Chad Michael Murray and Gary Cole have been cast in ABC’s drama pilot Scruples, executive produced by Tony Krantz and Natalie Portman and directed by The Vow helmer Michael Sucsy. Based on the novel by Judith Krantz, Scruples centers on rich and powerful clothing designer Billy Winthrop (Claire Forlani) in a world of sex, revenge and scandal. Murray will play handsome playboy photographer Spider, who works for Winthrop. Cole will play the manipulative Royce, the longtime lawyer of Winthrop’s late husband who is infuriated when Billy inherits his empire and vows to keep it under her control. This marks the return to series television for former One Tree Hill star Murray, who recently returned to the CW drama. He is with WME and Brillstein Entertainment. Cole, repped by ICM and Barbara Gale, recently co-starred in the Geffen Playhouse production of Superior Donuts and has recurred on The Good Wife.

Who knew that Chad Michael Murray was a Warren Beatty in Shampoo type.
The person that is most interesting in this cast to me is Karine Vanesse and sounds like she’s got a really small part. Bummer. Why haven’t ABC cast Margot Robbie, Kelli Garner or Jesse Martin in a pilot?
The role was decent sized in both the book & miniseries. Also wouldn’t mind seeing more of Margot Robbie either.
Karine Vanasse’s character (Valentine) is one of the three main characters in the novel the show is being based on, so I highly doubt it’ll be a ‘really small part’.
Dang, what is your relationship with Gary Cole’s publicist? I happen to enjoy the man’s work, but DAMN. That is one hell of a head shot. Might have been good 15 years ago. You can always tell a lot about a writer’s opinion of a subject based on the photo they use…hence Rupert Murdoch’s pic on most these articles lol

I adore watching the almost authentic emotions of Chad Michael Murray. Both of them.

This show has the best cast of all the pilots this season. Enough with you jealous haters. I hear this show is the one ABC is counting on to get them some hipness and some critical cred. Claire Forlani is a mega-get this pilot season and whoever put together this cast should be canonized. Enough with the haters. Watch for this show come fall.

Notwithstanding the Dorian Gray headshot, I love Gary Cole. Whether it’s comedy or drama this guy always hits it out of the park and is immensely watchable! Congrats.
Only one will get greenlighted to series. Wonder if there is a way to add in elements of the show that does not get picked up into the one that does.

I liked the concept till CMM was cast.
Word. Too bad because I LOVE Gary Cole -
Not overly thrilled with the casting of CMM, especially considering he’ll be spending a lot of his screen time with Karine Vanasse if the show is going to be faithful to the novel. Their characters are best friends who end up falling for each other. The uber-talented Vanasse is going to completely act circles around him. It could be painful.
Saying that, I’m getting pretty excited about this show already and I’ll be so disappointed if it doesn’t get picked up.
When is this show suppose to finally air i miss chad michael murray on one tree hill him and payton made the show and now that the shows ended i been very depressed i was hoping they were gonna finally come back for many more years to come with lucas and payton but the show only made it to 9 seasons its killing me inside that its only gonna be reruns of it but when is the show starting so that i can atleast be happy to see chad again
