After doing a claymation special in 2010, NBC’s cult favorite Community is getting animated with three promotional shorts designed to trump up the show’s March 15 return to the schedule. The announcement was just made during Community‘s PaleyFest session. The shorts, titled Abed’s Master Key, will debut on March 7 on Hulu, Hulu Plus and NBC.com. They were written by Dave Seger (Channel 101) & Tom Kauffman (Lil Wayne’s Big House). Here is a promo:

I’m just glad to hear that it’s coming back!
Props to NBC for giving Community the promotion it should have had to begin with.
They’re still sticking it in the Thursday 8 PM death slot. They just want to be able to say “See? We tried promoting it and it still couldn’t beat ‘BBT’ or ‘Idol’. Time to cancel it for a ‘Whitney’ spin-off.”
Count me as a rabid Community fan. They’re limping to that 100-episode mark, and I really hope they get there.
I’ve always thought that Community would be terrific, almost ideal, for syndication. They don’t really have season-long arcs and it’s not really serialized, so you can just tune on any given day and not feel like you’re missing out on anything. Each episode is almost like a 22-minute short, really.
Seinfeld is obviously the gold standard, but the one Seinfeld-esque thing that Community has going for them is that each episode really is a standalone episode.
Aw, cute. But it still won’t help its dismal numbers.
NBC needs to wake up- Community is their best comedy, move it to 830 or 930p- the show is so much better than the ratings show. It will be a shame if the lifespan is cut short due to having a terrible time slot
Hey 6 Seasons,
Seinfeld should not be mentioned anywhere near this posting.
Decent show but very bad timeslot and lack of promotion by NBC has hurt the momentum of this program. NBC needs to just seriously branish themselves away from the previous regime’s failures and start focusing on fixing this network for the long haul, under their own vision, not that of Zuckerwad.
It’s funniest show on TV, bar none. I’d like to see it nestled in with 30 Rock and Parks and Rec at 9:00, and see the Office cancelled entirely at this point.
