Dennis Miller has joined the cast of the ABC comedy pilot Awesometown (formerly untitled Adam Sztykiel). The comedy pilot, from writer/executive producer Sztykiel and 20th Century Fox TV, is described as a raw, hilarious peek behind the curtain of modern twentysomething relationships. It centers on Dusty (Rappaport), a twentysomething guy who, after a divorce, moves into an apartment shared by his co-worker Andrew (Nick Kocher) and roommate Oliver (James Earl III). Miller will play Nelson Burke, the genius boss of Burke Architecture, “who has never smiled and is surgical with his cut downs.”
Pablo Schreiber is set to co-star opposite Janet Montgomery in CBS’ drama pilot Baby Big Shot. The project, from writer Dana Calvo, showrunner Kevin Falls, Sony TV and Jamie Tarses’ Fanfare, is a legal drama centered on Martina (Montgomery), a working-class woman who uses her street smarts to compete with her more polished colleagues at a top New York law firm. Schreiber, repped by ICM and D/F Management, will play just cast last night as Luke Aronson, a partner in the law firm and a romantic interest for Martina.
Tom Irwin has been cast in the ABC pilot Devious Maids, a primetime soap from Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry, in a plum co-starring role. Based on the Mexican format, Devious Maids follows four maids (Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Judy Reyes) with ambition and dreams of their own while they work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Irwin, repped by Buchwald/Fortitude and Framework, will play Adrian Powell, one of the employers, a wealthy married mad who has repeatedly had sex with the maid.TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

I haven’t seen the words Dennis Miller and hilarious in the same paragraph in over a decade.
All the Dennis Miller hate, seemingly out of no where… Huh… What do you suppose that’s all about?
Calm down, blacklisters. He’s not starring in the show. Sounds like Miller and Sztykiel are doing a variation on the brilliant Miles Dentrell character from 30SOMETHING.
The real news is that Dennis Miller is alive
Yet more incomprehensible casting. In a world where getting an audience for a new network show is challenging enough, they go and cast a guy who >automaticallywon’t even sample< a show that casts Dennis Miller.
Dennis has already amply proven that while he may be quick with a quip, he certainly is no actor…babe.
And just like that, the Awesometown pilot won’t get picked up.
Reading that Dennis Miller has been cast is basically saying that this pilot is not getting picked up
Why are we mad at Dennis Miller now? Because of his politics? Weak. That’s what angry Fox Newsers do.
Is it because of his limited range as an actor? To call what will be asked of him as a secondary character in a sit-com “acting” is a stretch. I think casting him as a horrible boss is a great idea and it makes me want to watch it more.
More than the “zero” before this announcment that is.
Dennis is still extremely funny. Not sure about all the hate – will definitely want to watch this if it gets picked up.
