It seems so: Yesterday LA-based exec Joe Lewis — a former director of production at 20th Century Fox and former executive at Comedy Central’s series Tosh.0 – briefly changed his LinkedIn profile citing his occupation as “Vice-President of Original Television at Amazon,” Fortune magazine says. Good thing the publication nabbed a screen shot. Lewis changed his title to “Vice President, Production at Amazon Studios” shortly after a reporter called to ask what’s up. The apparent slip is interesting because Amazon hasn’t formally said that it plans to produce its own shows. But it’s no surprise: Amazon recently advertised to hire someone to oversee original productions, website GigaOm reported last month.

I hope he enjoys his two weeks working for Amazon! That’s not the entertainment industry Joe. Bigger things are on the line when you work for a company like this. Not that any one is shocked because they did post job openings, but still.
It was a good run, Joe. I have a feeling this next job is going to be the one.
They posted job openings. This is a secret only to those not in the industry. Certainly not worth this guy losing his job at all.
Joe Lewis. Working his way out of the entertainment industry since 2009.
Yeah, sure, a mistake. “Oops!”
Oh wait and Executive failing up, that pulls a dumb move consisting of self involvement and a narcissistic title update…never heard of this. Wow? Original. I’m sure Amazon will be cranking out “never before seen” entertainment.
Amazon might want to do a more thorough vetting of its prospective employees.
Why so negative? This is a manufactured crisis….not a big deal.
Joe has been fired from every job he’s ever had. How he continues to fail up time and time again is a mystery.
Are you crazy? He’s never been anything but a smart person to deal with. One of a handful of execs I actually like having on my phone sheet.
Great hire! Cool choice — this is a guy who can bring creativity and innovation to any job. Joe has his finger on the pulse and can obviously create a hit. If Joe introduced Tosh.0 to Comedy Central – he is sure to bring greatness to Amazon. Excited to see what’s to come.
Amazon! Get the TRUTH from any one at Comedy Central.
one of the most unpleasant and self-centered people I have ever dealt with in an industry full of them.
Joe did develop Tosh.0 He developed a lot of stuff at Comedy Central, most importantly – a bad reputation, a habit of lying and a sense of entitlement.
Joe was instrumental in developing Tosh.0 and has fantastic relationships (and a great reputation) around town. He’s the right guy for this job and brings a lot to the table. Congrats Joe!
Great guy, has good instincts— good hire for Amazon!
Joe was amazing at Fox AND Comedy Central! This is such a smart hire for Amazon. And look at all the press he has already gotten them
Joe has great creative instincts and I can’t wait to have the opportunity to work with him again!
Joe Lewis did NOT develop Tosh.0 on his own, only Joe would tell you that he did. In fact, from what I’ve heard, a number of people had a hand in it. If he’s such a genius and single-handedly responsible for Tosh.0, it seems to me he would still be at Comedy Central, wouldn’t he? It doesn’t make sense.
whoa, y’all need to chill. Joe’s a talented, hard working, good guy.
I guess haters are gonna hate, especially behind the safe distance of the internet. damn.
Joe most certainly DID develop Tosh.0. The reasons he’s not still at Comedy Central have nothing to do with the actual work he did and everything to do with the screwed up internal politics at the network at the time. There are several talented executives who are no longer there for the same reason. Great hire, Amazon! Congrats Joe!
Joe was 100% fired due to his work ethic. He continually undermined the development process. Same with Fox. No one, especially Amazon, should have any reason to believe that this won’t happen again. Tosh was a team effort and Joe is not, and will never be a team player. Awful hire Amazon.
