Disney and DreamWorks have set a June 29 release date for People Like Us, the film previously known as Welcome To People. Starring Chris Pine, Olivia Wilde, Elizabeth Banks and Michelle Pfeiffer, the dramatic comedy marks the directing debut by Alex Kurtzman, who wrote the screenplay with his partner Roberto Orci, as well as Jody Lambert. Pine plays a man who returns home after his estranged dad’s death, and uncovers a family secret. Pine is currently shooting the next Star Trek feature, which Kurtzman and Orci wrote.

Dreamworks loved this movie so much that they dropped Orci-Kurtzman’s deal and did not offer Alex Kurtzman any other directing projects. No other studio has either. Perhaps they can write a sequel to Cowboys & Aliens.
Alex Kurtzman is the director…hmmm… I’ve heard someone here doesn’t like the guys… Why???…
Changing titles is not going to help this one…
I read the script and it was one of the most beautiful, well-written scripts I have ever read. I’m interested to see what they did with it.
Stop it. Just stop it.
I read it too and liked it, didn’t love it. It struck me as Elizabethtown with focus and discipline, and offered good roles for Pine, Banks and the kid. Students should read it because it is a textbook example of how you write characters that actors would want to play, giving the characters a little texture and dimension. It’s not Bergman, but the added layers give the material some distinction.
Hahaha. You’re talking about the same guy that wrote Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, right?
Where is the screenplay? found it where?
I wonder if he’s paid his commissions yet…
