While Desperate Housewives is coming to an end, star Eva Longoria is staying in business with ABC, ABC Studios and Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry. Longoria is joining the ABC/ABC Studios pilot Devious Maids, which like Desperate Housewives is a soap with four female leads, as an executive producer. Written by Cherry based on the Mexican format, Devious Maids follows four maids (Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Judy Reyes) with ambition and dreams of their own while they work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Longoria will executive produce alongside Cherry, Sabrina Wind, Paul Presburger, David Lonner, Larry Shuman, John Mass and Michael Garcia. In addition to her acting career, Longoria, repped by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment and attorney Brad Small, has been active behind the camera as a producer, setting several series projects over the past few years though her company Unbelievable Entertainment. This marks the first pilot she is executive producing.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

What’s the point of bringing her on as an executive producer at this point? Will she have creative input? Will she do any acting? Will she be some kind of Latina PR ambassador, doing the rounds on talk shows and the like?
That’s nine (9!) Executive Producers. I expect this from season #497 but on season #1? Wanna know why TV mostly sucks—it’s b/c there’s nine (9!) Exec Producers. That leaves a lot less $ for a writing staff. Sad. So, so sad.
It seems to me that shows with more than 3 EPs crash and burn quickly. Too many cooks!
Didn’t hurt Terra Nova! Oh…wait…
Longoria will executive produce alongside Cherry, Sabrina Wind, Paul Presburger, David Lonner, Larry Shuman, John Mass and Michael Garcia.
Is this some sort of joke?
How many circus clowns can the network brass pack into this Volkswagon after all?
This is a crystallization of ALL THAT IS WRONG with this business.
Some sayings are cliches for a reason: too many chefs, etc…
I want to know what value she really adds to the final product on screen. What show creator needs her notes in the pilot writing phase? Pathetic.
Marc’s name must not mean much at the net. Any chance this is to show he plays well with females post trial?
What exactly is her input into the show to be? Or is this just a paycheck thing to keep her name in the light since she isn’t going to be moving into films anytime soon?
maybe it’s me but there’s something unseemly about super rich people writing shows about poor people working for rich people… who want to be rich people
I say she’s in front of the camera by November sweeps.
Dump Ramirez, replace her with Longoria.
It’s actually not a “pilot”, it’s a presentation.
I’d guess Cherry has no idea how to write a Latina-driven show and needs her image to help get the (awful, have you read it?) show picked up.
Way to sign on to perpetuate negative stereotypes about your heritage! Way to go! Gold star for Eva!
There must be at least 12 more Executive Producers on this or it won’t be successful. The more EP’s you have the better your show will be. Everyone knows this so why are they skimping on the EP credits? What the hell is wrong with them? Stop being so stingy.
Next up from Marc:
Confused Nurses
Devilish Mothers
Frustrated Strippers
Sadly, nine executive producers wouldn’t even be a record for a first year show. I saw Last Man Standing last week and counted TEN executive producers in the credits. But, hey, when you’re making classic television…
From the trial we know “executive Producer” often means a contributing writer on Marc’s shows.
I welcome Eva’s input.
She’s funny.
wonder who she blackmailed this time!!!
WHY? The show is set up. There’s absolutely zero that she’s brought to the table and the pilot has already been filmed so what’s the point of her being involved? She’s got as much producing talent as she does acting talent – NONE! Can’t wait for Desperate Housewives to go off the air so I hopefully never have to see that vacuous midget again. She’s worse than Charlene Tilton.
I assume she’s producing the planned spinoff, “Mexican Bike Cop.”
Oh wow, everyone is a critic. How about you all be happy that the show, if potentially picked up, is going to put a lot of people to work. Stop being selfish opinionated brats and hope for the best for this show!
SAD TRUTH—-negative “selfish opinionated brats” are what these comment things are all about.
