After four weeks of miniscule ratings on Saturday night, Fox is pulling the Jennifer Lopez/Marc Anthony reality series Q’Viva: The Chosen from primetime and moving it to Saturday late night. Q’Viva, whose original US broadcasts air on Spanish-language network Univision, started off its run on Fox with a .8 rating among adults 18-49 in the 8-10 PM Saturday slot and subsequently dropped to a .5 rating. Fox will replace the two remaining two-hour episodes of Q’Viva with Cops, which had been averaging a 1.2 demo rating in the time period. Meanwhile, the last two segments of Q’Viva will be trimmed to fit in Fox’s 90-minute Saturday late-night block from 11 PM-12:30 AM.

HA-ha!
That’s kinda embarrassing. But I guess it’s marginally better than being pulled off completely.
I used to try to keep track of how many new FOX shows premiered that I never even HEARD had actually begun their run. I’ve officially lost count.
Q’Viva = el Stinkbomb
Q’lastima!
Just another Saturday Night Special.
When she stop play and come back to Marc everithin fix in the program and the life to.
Stay bursty, my friends.
I like Q’Viva… I’m a middle-aged white guy and I like it for the performers– not because JLo or Marc are judges…
Note to the highly paid tele-programmers:
– if you are wanting the 18-34 demo, DONT put that program on early Saturday night… when they’re out eating, at the movies, at clubs.
– if you are trying to get non-Latinos to watch a Latin show, you need to advertise and promote it so that non Latinos will Want to watch it or Dvr it. I didn’t realize it as was on FOX until I was flipping channels.
– Don’t oversaturate the lineup — 3 singing shows and a dancing show = too much!
Exactly, on all points.
Too bad, too. They REALLY did not advertise it well or well enough!
I caught an episode 2 weeks ago – it’s actually far classier than any you’d think Fox-Unvision-Anthony-Lopez project would be. This actually would have be a great match for a demo that enjoys travelouges & the arts. Sure it’s a talent-elimination show, but what makes it interesting is that the initial episodes were a tour of every country/culture in Central & South America (except Cuba): Mambo-salsa dance troupes in Columbia and the tough lives they live in Medellin! The crazy dancing clowns of Peru who wield razor-sharp scissors and nail their tongues to boards! The foot stomping machismo dancers of the Argentine pampas! The spiritual musicians of the Guatemalan rainforest!
In short: a very bad match for the viewer who likes watching Cops on Fox Saturdays, but surprisingly not a worthless show.
Ay! Ouch! Being moved to midnight is more embarrassing than just calling it quits and pulling the plug.
I really enjoy the show, but the time that it airs is not a good one. I agree that the show needed more advertisement. I love traveling, learning about other cultures’ tradition and I think te show overall is entertaining and worth watching!!
Finally! You can’t air ahow on prime time, network TV with Spanish. Especially in Saturday night when the competition is Sabado Gigante. I tried the show but was quickly alientated with all of the Spanish and English subtitles. It bordered on being offensive…as though I would stick around to watch no matter the language. Sorry, but there are way too many other options then suffering through a show in Spanish.
But but but… I thought the spanish speaking demo was the new hot viewer segment. I guess they know pandering crap when they see it too.
I never even heard of this show. For that matter, I never even realized Fox has a Saturday primetime schedule…
Normally, Fox Saturday night is reruns of shows from during the week.
That is why America’s Most Wanted is now on Lifetime. Nobody watches fox on Saturday primetime.
Having J Lo as a judge on TWO reality talents shows at the same time is just a bad programming move on FOX’s behalf. Add to that the latter part of the title “The Chosen” makes it sound like they’re searching for the next Wes Craven horror movie villain.
It was a mistake and hence it’s been moved.
@Diana,unfortunately none of these networks has a Saturday primetime lineup. I remember when Saturdays used to have a regular original lineup, but, that’s not the case anymore. It seems Saturdays nowadays is the night regulated for the dumping of programs noone watched during the week such as The Firm. At least original programs are still offered on Friday nights.
Give us LATINOS something good to watch before midnight. Stop hating on Jennifer, really….
This is really beyond me. How can anyone not to like this show? What that having subtitles? These are really talented people who make music from the heart. I’m a fan of Marc Anthony, he is incredibly talented vocalist and a great, soulful artist. Jennifer is really another case. But it does not matter. The wealth of Latin American culture deserves to be seen and experienced. Of course, that a one show can not cover everything. Not from the first time. But definitely is worth watching.
Its a great show! Not a whole lot of shows can show this amount of culture and in so many different countries. Not to mention the people.
What they really need to do it swap it to a weeknight and advertise to the Spanish speaking world in addition to American Idol viewers.
C………It is not a great show. It is cheap and VULGAR.
I have not seen much talent. The dancing and singing…… atrocious.
The show is great! But it airs on Univision at 7 pm and they were airing it on Fox from 8-10 p.m. on Saturday night when most latinos (older demographic) watches Sabado Gigante on Univision. They would have had better ratings if they had advertised the show and not put it in their Saturday primetime lineup. I watched it late on Saturdays because I was never home when it aired so I recorded it on Tivo. I agree with Steve – - Sat. night @ 8 pm is not the best time to air this show for 18-34 demographic. I will still watch the show at 11 pm as I stay up late anyhow.
It was actually an interesting show, I never knew Hispanics had a wide divers cultural background. I think the ratings went down because it was aired on the weekend when a majority of people actually go out rather then stay indoors. So teaching people about a culture on a day that people rather go out and relax obviously your going to get lower ratings…. duhh fox!!! Had this show been seen on a Mon-Thur slot then we would be speaking more about it. Hopefully I can still catch up with the episode @11pm-12:30am…. Thanks a lot FOX (always ruining something good)
finally something on saturday night that i really enjoyed watching..
soooooooooooooo sick of Cop show the violence etc. i found Q.viva very intertaining .. this Sucks….!!! they had so much talented people … very very unhappy that you took it off/moved it..shame on you!!!!!!!
I agree with you! I am so very tired of the “cookie cutter” Cop/violent shows. It was nice to finally have something interesting to watch. I am so sorry this was cut…especially so close to the last shows!
Q’Viva is an excellent show. It needs a better programming slot and advertisements, so it can reach all audiences. This is one way of showing the talent of latinos in music, arts, and other areas, that they work hard just like anybody else to reach their level of performance.
I would just like to say that Marc and Jennifer and Jamie have done an excellent job of bringing the Latino world to us! It was a new idea one that should have been done long ago… there is so much to learn through the dance, music and culture of these wonderful places. I too, wish they had found a spot for it during the week. It is a rough diamond and should be shared. I am so delighted that it is still on, even at that late hour! I really enjoy Marc Anthony and I adore Jennifer. She has done nothing that any other beautiful, newly divorced, working woman would do! She got back on the horse! good for you girlfriend… Viva!
thank you so much for showing an African American Black woman, that her roots are even deeper than ever thought~!
Love you,and can’t wait to see your show in Vegas!
I am so happy COP’S is back. At frist i thought it was brought back because i wrote Fox 35 asking them to please bring it back. but instead another wish of mine came true that the ratings of Q-Viva where so bad they moved it to 11pm thank God for that. Do we really need to be subjected to more J-Lo?
I still can’t believed that American Idol” creator Simon Fuller & executive producer Nigel Lythgoe fell victim to Jlo & Marc Latin talent project Q” Viva that has been collecting dust on the shelves for years (no one else fell for this project, every one else new this project was a failure), just like their other project’s they had collecting dust on their shelves (Clothing Line & Collection), which was pick up by Kohl’s, who also fell victim last year after Idol pick up Jlo to be the next Idol judge thinking it would bust sales for their corporation, which month’s later that Jlo & Marc projects were a flop, and that they lost millions on the project, and as to Jlo music career, well you all know that story, Love album only 300K in sales, and now the latest news regarding Idol, News Corp. COO: Chase Carey tells an investor ‘American Idol’ Needs ‘Fresh Energy’ “Ratings today are a bit disappointing,” and the show needs “freshness and excitement and originality,” meaning replacing exiting Idol judges with fresh new judges for next season 12. Well Jlo, it’s look like going right back to where you started before Idol pick you out of the gutter, Bankrupt, broke, depress, and now divorce and 42?
Ed Varillo………I agree 100%. You said it all. THANKS.
