In its second week on the air, Fox News Channel‘s Fox And Friends First, the new 5 AM hour of the Fox And Friends morning show, averaged 146,000 viewers in the key TV news demographic of adults 25-54 from 3/11-3/16. Given Fox News’ across-the-board ratings strength, it is not surprising that Fox And Friends First beat its news network competition in the hour. But somewhat surprisingly, the 5 AM show also topped most of CNN‘s evening programs last week, including John King USA (117,000) at 6 PM, Erin Burnett Outfront (126,000) at 7 PM and Piers Morgan Tonight (133,000) at 10 PM. The only CNN early fringe/primetime show to edge Fox And Frends First was tentpole Anderson 360 (156,000) by a small margin. This is not the first time CNN’s primetime lineup has been beaten by overnight Fox News show. In October, Fox News’ 3 AM program Red Eye topped both Piers Morgan and Erin Burnett Outfront in the demo.

That’s an easy explanation.
The majority of people that would typically watch CNN, whereby significantly increasing the numbers over Fox, have already READ the news.
Everyone knows that the majority of Fox viewers don’t read. : )
Good try. Once again you prove that libs can’t discuss facts without throwing out some kind of phony insult. It’s getting rather pathetic and desperate.
Fox’s success is actually easy to figure out. Fox News trounces the cable news competition in most if not all day parts because the majority of Americans realize that liberals dominate most other television networks especially the cable news outlets CNN, HLN and MSNBC. To deny that is simply ignorant.
Would you PLEASE go away? You’re lowering the collective IQ of everyone on this website with your dumb wingnut ranting! It’s not polite to do so!
So they are getting up and reading the paper at four A.M.? I don’t think your insult is as good as you think it is.
Justthefacts demonstrates the typical liberal bigotry that explains why people don’t watch CNN. If you have to lie to make your point, you don’t have a point worth making.
It’s because The Faux News Channel’s core audience are all over 80. They rise at 5:00am have dinner by 4:00pm and to bed by 7:00pm. Not a great mystery.
Yet Fox ravages the others in primetime as well. Hmm… Seems you don’t know what you’re talking about.
… except this article, and the stats in it, were about the 25-54 age group.
And what the heck is wrong with being older? That seems to be the new/old slam. Do you become a non person the more years you put on? The Baby boomer generation is moving into the 60′s on up demo and they are bringing their money with them. Not a good group to ignore as it is the largest.
As someone who watches cable news far too frequently (I’m a glutton for punishment, apparently), I actually prefer most of the CNN talking heads to those on their rival networks. While it’s likely true that most of CNN’s anchors lean left, they generally rely less on smug opining than their counterparts.
damn cnn those numbaz in prime time is pathetic!
Go easy, it must be hard being one of CNN’s handful of viewers. Probably an anchors family member.
Many problems at CNN:
Pierce Morgan is a yammering twit and not nearly as clever as he perceives himself to be.
Can’t really say that Anderson Cooper as CNN’s star, has panned out out – his numbers continue to dissapoint. He really should come out, like Rachel did.
The rest of CNN’s talking heads fall into the bland category.
And don’t get me started on CNN’s over the top embarrasing coverage of Whitney Houston’s death and funeral.
Those numbers seem really low.
It is easy to see why Fox News Channel has higher ratings…they really are fair and balanced. When they discuss an issue, they have guests that cover both sides. Of course there are exceptions such as the Hannity show, but it is understood that his show does lean right. People are simply tired of only getting the left’s point of view and are turning to Fox for an honest and fair assessment.
