It looks like it’s over for Fox’s freshman comedy I Hate My Teenage Daughter, which is being taken off the schedule effective immediately. Last week, the network preempted the episodes of the multi-camera comedy that were supposed to air after American Idol‘s performance show, which was extended to two hours for the rest of the season. Now Fox is also pulling the remaining two episodes of Teenage Daughter that were slated to air as part of Fox’s two-hour Tuesday comedy block at 8:30 PM. Teenage Daughter has been the lowest-rated piece of the block, hitting a series low last night when it fell to a 1.2 adults 18-49 rating. (Sophomore Breaking In is not doing much better at a 1.3.) For the next two weeks, Raising Hope repeats will air in the Tuesday 8:30 PM slot. The remaining Teenage Daughter originals will be burned off in the summer.

I HATE THIS SHOW!!! Whoever could have thought this show was a good idea? How about cancelling some development execs along with the show.
seriously. it was a horrible script. i know that has very little to do with the success of a television show, but i’m just not sure how anyone thought it would translate into a watchable series. although it was a good idea and i’m sure the ladies who wrote it are unbelievably nice people and i look forward to denigrating their next P.O.S. ooo, gotta go, someone just ordered a really complicated latte.
With a negative name like that, who’d be watching it anyway? I’m sorry for Jaime Pressly for being part of this.
Blame Fox, not the hapless actors. By contrast Switched at Birth broke out big while featuring kind parents who love the smart daughters. Was Rupert raised on gruel in a workhouse? He doesn’t seem to get the value of good vibrations.
Glee goes happy and becomes a hit, Hate goes negative and ends up a flop.
If Fox needs to fill a half-hour after AI, an infomercial would have been better.
The problems started with the name of the show alone. All accross America: “Honey, do you want to watch I Hate My Teenage Daughter?”, ummm . . . no.
What a surprise. LOL
wrong network for this show…
I thought there was some clever writing in the pilot, but the show sucked. Bet this would’ve worked at CBS though.
The title is hilairous. The concept is great.
For a film.
As with the movie John Carter, there’s much to be said about TV shows’ titles, as to whether they help or harm. In both cases… who the hell a) thought of them and worse, b) who approved of them? Where is Jo Swerling Jr. when you need him – everyone could learn something from him.
No surprise here as this show has to be one of the worst programs of the season, or at least in the top 5 of horrible shows this season. NBC has some real doozies in their lineup but this show and Breaking In are just awful. Cancel them and call it a day.
I have one thing to say about this: Good riddance!
It’d have been funnier if they actually hated their teenage daughters.
I think the title and concept are good. I was interested but missed the first episode and then when it disappointed in the ratings I didn’t bother checking it out. No use getting interested in a show that won’t make it.
I agree about the title. Worst title one could come up with, particularly when it doesn’t accurately reflect the show…..ala Cougar Town. So much talent there, producers, directors, writers, actors who have succeeded well with other shows, much like Matthew Perry’s “Mr Sunshine”….sometimes all the talent in the world just doesn’t jell. Kevin Rahm stood out.
Well I think it stink’s that it is no longer on maybe you should have let it go a bit longer I noticed that most of the comments on here seem to come from men. I thought it was funny but there is the differance between differant people. My daughter in law and I would watch it and were waiting for the next one and then there wasnt a next one. ugh! I guess you cant make everyone happy it is kinda like voting for a president it is not always the one we want to win that wins. What about the rest of the people who actually liked the program?
I am sooo upset .. I really loved this show… love the actors ;( I think its a great name.. teenagers are easy to hate sometimes.. people take things way too seriously sometimes
Seriously people..what parent hasnt said that about their teenager!!! Life isn’t all sunshine and roses and kids don’t walk around breaking out in songs or smile 24/7 doing everything they are told. Kids talk back, kids think their parents are clueless and parents roll their eyes saying god why me. The show was funny, I loved the concept, divorced but still friendly, bratty kids and parents with sarcasm. My daughter thought the show was great and I related to it ohhh too many times. They needed to give it bit longer to find its audience and if they didn’t move it they might have. I watch the episode that are available all the time, it’s my go to show.
