FX has added two more box-office hits to its theatrical portfolio. The basic cable network has closed deals for the ad-supported TV rights to this weekend’s No. 1 movie 21 Jump Street (Sony), which opened with $36.3 million, and to Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax (Universal), which was No. 1 at the box-office the previous two weeks and has grossed $158.4 million to date domestically. So far this year, FX has bought the films that were No. 1 at the box-office nine of the first 11 weeks of 2012. The list includes Act Of Valor, Safe House, The Vow, Chronicle, Underworld: Awakening and Contraband.

That’s great. A kid’s movie on an adult channel. Lorax must be as bad as people say.
Does anyone really care anymore which commercial-laden network gets to show a movie “first”?
Actually, I care. I am pretty surprised that FX has been on such a movie-buying spree over the past two years.
You are so right. Clearly they bought it because it’s bad.
Just watch, 21 Jump Street will come back on FOX as a series within two years…. and it’ll get another full cycle — it is a perfect set up for a TV series…
