EXCLUSIVE: Anson Mount, the protagonist of the AMC series Hell On Wheels, has signed on to play a nasty villain in the indie racial drama Supremacy. The Deon Taylor-directed drama also stars Danny Glover, Joe Anderson, Derek Luke, Evan Ross, Lela Rochon and Dawn Olivieri. The drama is based on a true story. A paroled white supremacist has just killed a cop, and takes a black family hostage over a long night of terror as authorities cordon off the neighborhood where he and his lady accomplice are laying low. Mount plays the role of Sobecki, a heavily tattooed maximum security prison inmate who’s the head of the Aryan Brotherhood and oversees his criminal empire from behind bars. He’s the kidnapper’s leader and not thrilled when he learns of his charge’s screw-up when he’s called in by authorities to negotiate with the kidnapper. This is Mount’s second film while on hiatus from Hell On Wheels, which returns for a second season this fall. He just completed Code Name: Geronimo for Tony Mark and Voltage Pictures, opposite Cam Gigandet, Freddie Rodriguez and William Fichtner. He’ll next be seen starring opposite Jason Statham in Lionsgate’s Safe, to be released April 26th. He’s repped by Innovative and Brookside Artist Management.

I’ll be interested to see what Anson can do with this role… though his acting on HOW has been 2D and overall, just plain ‘meh’. He’s also a bit of a jerk on set… the hype and stardom gets to him pretty quick, I think. That being said from experience.
Those guys don’t go too far.
I know many would disagree with your assessment of his acting on HoW.
Care to elaborate on the “jerk on set” comment? Are you an extra?
HOW is one of my favorite shows. Love Anson’s acting and character in the show and the rest of the cast is great as well. I look forward to seeing his new projects. I think his star is just beginning to rise and I wish him all the best!
JM, I disagree with you regarding his acting, I’ve been very impressed with him especially due to the fact that he’s playing a character who doesn’t really speak much…he’s a man of few words.
As far as you calling him a jerk on set…well, unless you have something to back that up with (as I’ve read absolutely nothing else about his behavior being bad and when people do behave badly that info spreads like wildfire)…I’d say you’re just saying that to somehow impress people here with the possibility of “inside knowledge.”
This guy is a superstar!
Anson Mount has got it all, the rugged good looks, the awesome acting ability. I have never heard of him before HoW. This is my favorite show. And I can barely wait on the second season to begin. I think there are all good actors and actresses on this show.
I tend to agree with you on your assessment. Visually this guy just makes me melt but it’s his portrayal of this character I really like.
I dislocated my jaw yawning at this.
But you managed to post a comment. Why bother if it means that little to you?
Thanks for the comment, Anson!
I suppose what you (comment I read from JM) think of Anson’s acting and saying “he’s a bit of a jerk” on set is your opinion. But, from what comments I’ve heard from him and how he answers questions, he’s far from being arrogant and a jerk. Quite the opposite actually.
He’s very grateful and thankful to those who say kind words to
him, or about him. To me, that’s quite the opposite of being a jerk, don’t you think?
JM sounds a bit jealous, perhaps? Or, just a disgruntled set employee?
Mr. Anson Mount, according to us who actually live in Hollywood is defined as an actor who possesses “IT” ~ as did Humphrey Bogart, Montgomery Clift, Clark Gable, and Spencer Tracy. “It” ~ that undefinable certain “something” that makes him a true “Star”!
Anson Mount is Sex on a stick!… I adore him on HOW!
Anson is one of the most selfless and genuine people in the business. I am speaking from experience as well. He is talented and has a huge conscience. Follow his facebook and twitter you would be blown away, and wish nothing but the best for him as an actor and as a man.
