Two weeks ago, Disney and DreamWorks announced a new title and a release date for the project once known as Welcome to People – it’s now known as People Like Us and is due to be released June 29. Now, three months before the film’s planned release, the companies have released a trailer, via Moviefone, for the dramatic comedy that stars Chris Pine, Olivia Wilde, Elizabeth Banks and Michelle Pfeiffer. It seems more weighted toward the dramatic than the comedy, at least judging by this trailer. The film marks the feature directing debut of co-writer Alex Kurtzman.

Yeah, Cameron Crowe calling. I’d like the mash-up of every movie I’ve ever made returned to me. Or at least my cut of the royalties. Wait, obviously won’t be any royalties on this one. Never mind.
Just don’t let the kid in the car use the human head weighing eight pounds line.
Alex Kurtzman is Nancy Meyers’ son? I did not know that.
Looks great. Love Chris Pine.
looking forward to that awkward sex scene!
It doesnt look bad, it doesn’t look excellent. I like the bulk of the cast though so that gives it an edge for me it otherwise wouldn’t.
Welcome to People was a better title. Not sure who the audience for this is. Weird.
enough with the indie rock in trailers!!
I’m not the torchbearer for K/O, I could give a shit about those guys as long as the Star Trek sequel is good. But this movie doesn’t look bad. It actually looks good.
Judging by the trailer, this film is weighted more to ‘under’ rather than comedy or drama.
TIVO Lifetime movie alert!!
Seems really misplaced opening against Spider-Man. Still, good to see Pfieffer with two films coming up.
Wow — maybe Chris Pine will have a real career after all.
DIsney also changed the title of John Carter.
This family discovery ritual suddenly got cinematic when Pfeiffer showed up. She blasted everybody out to sea – in a trailer…
What I don’t get is why there isn’t a vehicle for her like Prime Suspect, cable I guess, a detective crime story with a gripping story. She’s loved, looks great (no cutlet-face action etc), wrings a script for all its got, intelligent…wasn’t she a candidate or Silence of Lambs? She’s a born detective.
btw this looks like a romantic comedy about incest – good luck!
I saw an early screening of this, and it’s FANTASTIC! A cross between “Rain Man,” “Almost Famous” and “High Fidelity!”
Heartfelt, funny, poignant and very profound! Great writing, great acting! Chris Pine is amazing, and this movie will finally elevate his A-list status to the likes of Ryan Gosling and Ryan Reynolds (only BETTER).
Elizabeth Banks always delivers the goods, but in “People Like Us,” she’s an absolute revelation! People will really be blown away by her strong performance!
Kurtzman did a spectacular job on his directorial debut! The movie opens the same weekend that “Crazy Stupid Love” opened last year — it’ll be a BIG hit, and it deserves to!
I just threw up in my mouth a little. I’m sorry, but 90% percent of what K/O touch is total rubbish.
Title change sucks but script is fantastic and Pine and rest of the cast look awesome. Can’t wait.
I know there are lots of haters on here and I’m as snarky as any of them but I think this looks pretty good. Also, Sometimes The Past Is A Present is some pretty awesome writing. I think this has a shot cause Michelle Pfeiffer is mega fantastic in everything. I one saw her at the Petco in Westwood and she was fantastic in that, too.
HATE. ELIZABETH. BANKS.
It looks great!… can’t wait the release date in my world!
What is the book that this movie is based on
