Universal Pictures has released an extended new trailer for the Rupert Sanders-directed Snow White And The Huntsman, the revisionist fairy tale that will be released June 1. The studio has also released a featurette on the making of a film that stars Charlize Theron as the sinister queen, Kristen Stewart as Snow, and Thor‘s Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman. The fantasy setting looks a lot like Middle Earth. Universal debuted the trailer on Comcast-owned Xfinity.com. Trailer is below, followed by the featurette. It looks pretty compelling, and the key is whether the young crowd that wants to see Snow White wrapped in chain mail and wielding a sword. Will those images be too upsetting? Similarly ominous images did not keep them away from Alice In Wonderland, which triggered the fairy tale frenzy.

Stewart seems like the obvious weak link here (no pun intended). Whether that’s all on her (explaining her relative downplayed presence in all the footage so far) or if it’s just a result of her character being a dud, who knows.
Effects look fantastic though. Be interesting to see if this can pull in the men.
totally agree. everything looks stunning, exciting, engaging… and then there’s Kristen Stewart. When will Hollywood learn these Twilight “actors” just can’t hack it outside that franchise.
Agreed. I simply don’t get Kristen Stewart. Decent looking girl, average acting skills. Surely one of her peers is more deserving.
The fact that she is somewhat downplayed in the trailer may be a marketing trick. A lot of people will write off a film that has anyone from twilight involved in it. Some people are also turned off by Stewart’s public persona, which is kind of a shame because she’s a nice enough kid. So I could see having the trailer cut in a way that shows her and gives her a few lines but that doesn’t give the impression that it is only “Kristen Stewart” movie.
Rupert Sanders referred to this in his Wondercon press interviews. It’s a slow reveal, not giving too much away all at once. Universal knows her fans at least have been dying to hear her British accent, but realize the importance of keeping Snow somewhat a mystery. She will anchor the film even Charlize has the more in-your-face character. The emotional arc of the film lies on Kristen’s shoulders, and after Rupert’s effusive praise of her I have no doubt she pulled it off.
You’re the reason she’s not in the trailers. lol Basically there’s a lot of people who would see bella swan in teh trailer and instantly be repelled. They’ve been very clever in their marketing, slowly rolling out twilight girl, letting people take a liking first to the project beforehand so they didn’t automatically dismiss it outright otherwise.

This looks pretty awesome actually. I think Stewart suits this version version of Snow White. And Charlize is brilliant. I will watch anything she’s in.

No, Ron, rtms is right. This is an international industry and the Geoblock is just stupid-minded insularity, not to say insulting to overseas readers who, presumably, will still be expected to pay to watch the film sometime. Stunts like this don’t help the film, the studio or audiences.
The idea of Kristen Stewart as, ahem snow white (notice lack of capital letters) is laughable. Maybe a Taylor Swift would have been a better fit.
Because when you think of Snow White with her red lips and dark black hair the first person I think of is Taylor Swift.

I guess I’d pick “Twilight hater,” since I’m a guy. But it’s not even that. When I said “laughable,” I meant the casting choice, in general; Stewart just isn’t a good actress. And when I look at her, all I see is trash. She’s cute, yeah, but she doesn’t give off that “good girl” vibe. Ok, maybe Swift wasn’t the best pick–even though you can dye hair color, no big deal–but Stewart doesn’t exude “Snow White”. You need the virginal type.
Just out of interest, what else have you seen Stewart? I’ve never seen more than 5 minutes of any of the Twilight movies (that’s all I could stand), but I”ve seen Stewart in several movies (Adventureland, The Runaways, Into the Wild) and thought she was a fine actress. I don’t get caught up in Hollywood hype, though.
This Snow White is obviously not supposed to be the virginal type, so that is kind of moot. Kristen Stewart’s kind of hit and miss, but she was surprisingly good in The Runaways and she receives pretty decent reviews on her films outside of Twilight. I think her main issue is that she often seems to play characters who are moody, troubled teenagers in films and combine that with how she is received in the public…well, it’s a strange choice she and her team made. This is a nice departure from those types of roles though.
So let me get this straight. Actors should only take on roles that match their real-life persona? (which I disagree with esp. here, Kristen is amazing, I’ve met her) Really? This is why it’s called acting. You sound ignorant.
The premise is faulty. If you’re going to cast Charlize Theron as the Queen… you can’t cast Kristen Stewart as Snow White. Cripes, Theron is waaay hotter by a magnitude!
That’s kind of the point. The Queen is supposed to be the most beautiful because she sucks the life and beauty out of all the girls. Snow White will one day surpass her, once she takes the Queen down.

Is it really? Why does it seem the media all assume this targets the Twilight crowd or that’s only who will go see it?? Just because of Kristen? That’s what we have Mirror Mirror for. There are two distinct demographics at play here, and this film should appeal to PG-13 crowd and adults alike. Kristen has a HUGE following of adults like me eager to see her break away from the Twilight stigma and prove herself in other, better quality projects.

Charlize ain’t exactly proving herself either. You’d be forgiven for forgetting Charlize has won an Oscar. The performance is camp and the accent is dodgy.
she’s half naked, so i’d assume that 99% of the male population seeing it based on that alone. the twihard/kristen stewart fans are already saying this will be biggest movie of the yr, so they are seeing it.
Sure it’s camp and her accent is awful but she has presence and makes this trailer what it is. Captain Jack Sparrow had an awful campy accent too.
Apples and oranges. Johnny Depp was playing a camp character in a comedy. Charlize Theron is portraying a camp character in a fantasy/drama. Theron’s performance will stand out for all the wrong reasons. Theron is at least better than Julia Roberts in the same role.
That’s an extremely silly thing to say. Theron had one of the most deserving/memorable Oscar wins in Oscar history and if people forget her films- which since she generally picks smaller, indie films, that might be the case- they certainly will never forget that she’s an Oscar winner.
Everything about this trailer plays to Theron’s strengths. She’s a great actress who is obviously very very physically stunning and I’m happy to see it be the Charlize show over the dour, spastic presence of Kristen Stewart.

Not sure if it will all come together, but the visuals are gorgeous. And so are Chris and Charlize. Like everyone other than the Twihards, not sold on Kristen – as a warrior, maybe – if production gave her enough training and the editing is as good as the trailer suggests – but as the world’s great beauty to (someday) rival Charlize… not so much. It’s a shame this film didn’t get Lily Collins. Or Emma Roberts. Or really any other “it girl” who’d be more believable as Snow White. Then again, maybe Kristen wields a sword well or something.

You all are basing this soley on looks and not taking into consideration the fact this is based on the original Grimm fairytale which was a cautionary tale on the destructive nature of vanity. Awesome. Go Jon Huntsman! Once this movie opens you can get back into the race and kick Romney’s butt. You will kick Santorum’s butt. This is why Huntsman deserves to be the Republican nominee. They must have spent a fortune on this campaign ad but he looks like a real movie star and come November he’ll be President.
charlize is going to own this movie. even though her accent sounds weird she was the best thing about the trailer. the graphics look pretty good, but some of the creatures look really fake with the cgi.
