NEW YORK, NY – Today, at the network’s first-ever Upfront event, IFC unveiled its 2012/2013 original programming line-up which includes the return for a third season of its breakout hit series, PORTLANDIA and a second season of WHISKER WARS. IFC also announced the addition of two new scripted comedies: the animated series OUT THERE, and MARON (working title), featuring comedian and podcast phenom Marc Maron; and a new installment of R. Kelly’s hip hopera, TRAPPED IN THE CLOSET. IFC also announced it will premiere its summer originals COMEDY BANG BANG and BUNK back-to-back on Friday, June 8, offering viewers a full hour of “slightly off” original comedies.
IFC’s Executive Vice President & General Manager, Jennifer Caserta, commented: “This past year, our first as an ad-supported network, has been an amazing one for IFC. Original series including Portlandia connected with audiences and have helped to further establish the network as the premier destination for fresh, original programming that celebrates what’s off-kilter in the world of comedy. We’ve also received a great response from advertisers who recognize the value of our hard-to-reach audience. IFC added 50 new clients, broke into the QSR, fast casual dining, snack food and beverage categories for the first time, and we continue to work with our partners to integrate their brands in unique ways that drive value and keep viewers engaged.”
Following is IFC’s 2012/2013 original programming line-up:2012

Packed with character cameos, filmic shorts, sketches and games set amongst an off-beat world, COMEDY BANG BANG delivers thirty minutes of absurd laugh-loaded fun featuring some of the biggest names in comedy.
Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games), Michael Cera (Arrested Development), Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Jon Hamm (Mad Men), Ed Helms (The Office), Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation), Seth Rogen (50/50), Paul Rudd (I Love You, Man), Adam Scott (Parks and Recreation), “Weird Al”

From the comedic duo of Fred Armisen (SNL) and Carrie Brownstein (Sleater/Kinney, Wild Flag), the critically acclaimed PORTLANDIA caught viewers by storm, infiltrating catchphrases into the cultural conversation such as “Put a Bird On It” and “We Can Pickle That.” Hailed by Salon as the “smartest sketch comedy show on TV,” the second season, which concluded on March 9, is IFC’s most-watched series ever, delivering 13.5 million total viewers (P2+), marking a +150% increase over season one.
Throughout the first two seasons of PORTLANDIA, viewers were introduced to a variety of eccentric characters, including Peter and Nance, an overly eco-conscious couple caught up in the organic and local food movement; Bryce and Lisa, an artsy, obsessive couple who find new trends to explore; and Toni and Candace, the formerly activist, self-involved shopkeepers of the feminist bookstore, “Women and Women First.” The show continues to feature an eclectic roster of guest stars including Kyle MacLachlan’s recurring character as Portland’s trusty but misguided mayor, Jeff Goldblum, Penny Marshall, Tim Robbins, Andy Samberg, Eddie Vedder, and Kristin Wiig, to name a few.
In addition to an all-new season, IFC is offering viewers, who just can’t seem to get enough of PORTLANDIA, a one-hour special this summer, titled PORTLANDIA: THE BRUNCH SPECIAL, followed by a second half-hour special in time for the holidays later this year.

Premieres 3Q 2013
Marc Maron has been a comedian for 25 years. He’s had his problems. He was an angry, drunk, self-involved, twice divorced compulsive mess for most of his adult life, but with the popularity of a podcast he does in his garage and a life of sobriety, his life and career are turning around. MARON
(wt) explores a fictionalized version of Marc’s life, his relationships, and his career, including his incredibly popular WTF podcast, which features conversations Marc conducts with celebrities and fellow comedians. Neurosis intact, Maron is uniquely fascinating, absolutely compelling and brutally funny.
Produced for IFC by Fox Television Studios and Denis Leary and Jim Serpico’s Apostle, MARON (wt) is directed by Oscar® winning director Luke Matheny (God of Love) and executive produced by Marc Maron, Denis Leary, Jim Serpico, Olivia Wingate, and Duncan Birmingham, who also serves as
the series’ writer.

Yeah for more PORTLANDIA!!!! That show is hilarious. Kudos to the SNLer. Love the Aimee Mann as housekeeper episode. You guys are hilarious.
portlandia is pretty funny
I listen to Mark Maron’s WTF podcast for the GUESTS, not for him. I can’t remember laughing once at something he said. That’s not that big of a deal, because the podcast focuses on SERIOUS INTERVIEWS WITH COMEDIANS. It’s not a “brutally funny” show. It’s about how the guests broke into the business and who’ve they’ve come up with in the industry.
Maybe WTF plays as a straight conversation, but Maron’s comedy and previous radio work represents a huge body of fantastic comedy. This show is going to be funny.
Recently got a chance to see Marc at work. He is indeed a funny man. I was very impressed with his ability to portray himself amongst seasoned actors. I cannot imagine his new show to be nothing but a hit. Very good comedian and backed by some of Hollywoods best in production. Really looking forward to this show.
I thought IFC was supposed to be indie, cutting edge, risk takers. This shit sounds like the same drivel A&E was touting earlier this week.
I’ve heard great things about Out There, can’t wait to see how it looks on the flat screen!
What ever happened to Todd Margaret. One of the funniest shows on TV… David Cross was just so wrong!
No mention of the previously announced BULLET IN THE FACE. Is that airing this year?
IFC is basically a subpar UHF rerun channel. All these programs sound cheap. It’s basically like announcing a pretend schedule made up of You Tube shows.
How do any of these shows sound like a “UHF rerun” or a “You Tube” show? They’re all created, written by and starring people who have had long and successful careers in entertainment and comedy, and then also R. Kelly. Your comment makes no sense. If you don’t know what you’re talking about, you don’t have to write a comment.
Suddenly this is the best comedy lineup on TV.
I’m glad IFC is coming out with Original content but I kinda miss when they used to have Freaks & Geeks on and all those great rerun shows.
@AC Todd Margaret is over, I mean the last episode ends with him blowing up the world.
I remember when IFC was about playing movies. Like I remember when AMC did, remember? Why must these channels pander to TV sitcom-sized attention spans? I fear there will be no refuge for “indie” film reruns amongst a slate of “reality shows” (whiskers wars, really? GTFO) and other programming mimicing Comedy Central types on this newly “ad supported” network. It just goes to show that money still corrupts as much as ever, maybe more in a “down” economy, god why must I use so many ” ” it’s exhausting to “me” even.
networks need money to continue to exist. reality shows are cheap to produce and bring in as much, if not more viewers. its pretty simple. if you don’t like it, try starting your own network and see how far expensive scripted indie shows get you…
whisker wars RULES!
No sign of that “Greg & Donny” excrement from last year’s slate.
Excellent.
Actually Greg and Donny was very funny, we were looking forward to it.
And I think Greg and Donny is still on, just not mentioned
IFC has fully awoken to the concept that niche cable network programming no longer works (go ask Oprah). Hence, dropping their commerical-free format last year and now putting on shows that are basically retreads of things found on most other ad-supported cable networks.
What? No mention of “Rhett and Link Commercial Kings?” That’s my favorite IFC show. Come on!
IFC = the new alt comedy haven! Maron and CBB… It’s like a tv version of my morning drive. Awesome.
What about Commercial Kings with Rhett and Link? I’d love to see another season of that show.
So it’s basically a network focused on unfunny standups and podcasters now. Oh and a second pickup of a show about beard growing.
