EXCLUSIVE: Jessica Biel committed today to the second female lead in the Sacha Gervasi-directed Alfred Hitchcock And The Making Of Psycho. Biel will play the role of Vera Miles, who played Lila Crane in the 1960 classic. Anthony Hopkins plays Hitchcock, Scarlett Johansson will play Janet Leigh, Helen Mirren will play Alma Reville and James D’Arcy is reportedly up for the role of Anthony Perkins. Biel will next be seen starring opposite Colin Farrell in the Total Recall remake for Sony Pictures. Biel beat out several actresses for the Hitchcock role. She’s repped by CAA, Management 360 and attorney Karl Austen.

This will be a very pretty movie.
Poor Vera Miles.
Wow terrible casting for this film. Not excited for this.
Ditto. Horrible casting. No one will go see it. Flop.
Stephen Rebello’s The making of Psycho is a great book, one of the best behind the scenes of a classic flick tomes ever. Looking forward to this flick, hope it will be a good companion piece to the film that truly created the modern horror film.
jessica is very pretty!
Thanks for the exclusive news!
Are you kidding? How old are we, 5? She is not pretty. She is just in shape and full of herself. The Truth
This all sounds wonderful, BUT please can we work on that title?????? It’s dreadful. Can’t you come up with something better? Anyone?
I like the title. It sounds right for this type of thing.
Why are they making this into a movie? Nothing too crazy happened on the set of Psycho.
They should do the making of “Marnie” about Hitch’s obsession with Tippi Hedron.
Nobody on planet earth will go see a movie with that title, so here’s some alternates:
ALFRED
SUSPENSE
THE SHOWER SCENE
THE HORROR MOVIE
FAKE BLOOD
THE ORIGINAL
MASTER OF BATES
SHOWER CURTAIN
CURTAINS
Title change: Going Psycho
Better?
This again? Didn’t Gus Van Sant do a shot-for-shot identical re-make of Psycho a few years back? More intellectual bankruptcy out of Hollywood.
Yes, he did. And it was terrible. However, this isn’t another remake. It’s about the making of the original. Still, have to question who lit this one.
Did you even read the article?
The book is great and there’s no reason the movie can’t be too.
Isn’t J. Biel about eight feet tall? Vera Miles character was seemingly petite and driven as hell to get answers. Certainly not a sexist cliche of the time, she was in many ways the hero of the film with her ball-cracking sleuthing, never taking the unacceptable ‘male establishment’ explanations.
Also, this is when an actor’s extensive surgical and dermatological tinkering makes them unacceptable in a period film. Please no trout pouts in a film that captured a great moment in beautiful women in film.
This is a grade D idea swimming among other grade C films in release. Hopkins is/looks 20 years older than Hitch did in 1959.
Whatever happened to Alfred Hitchcock and the making of The Birds with Sienna Miller?
Alfred Hitchcock and Selznick and the making of Rebecca? Wasn’t that a documentary?
Andrew Garfield should play Perkins. He looks just like him.
Scarlett Johanssen as Janet Leigh? Are they going to CGI her nose? I like ScarJo but that’s bad casting. They should’ve cast Charlize or even a lower level star like Kristen Bell.
Kirsten Bell is a great choice.
what about John Gavin? who’s going to play him…i vote for John Hamm..he would be terrific, much like the former ambassador he has a wicked sense of humor, and is as handsome..!
but really Jessica Biel? why is she still being offered roles?..
I know Jessica Biel wants to be taken as a serious actress but when you are a terrible and all together unconvincing actress, it’s hard… I get it. However, casting her in this role and trying to get us to believe that she will flex her nonexistent acting muscle is just plain wrong. The girl is pretty but she can’t act!
Casting these people with vapid, contemporary looks to play older actors with substance is a stupid idea. Plus they already did the Gus Van Sant shot-for-shot remake.
The movie business has officially become the music business, digging up old bones to prop up their bullshit industry. Hitchcock would be appalled.
The only casting choice I like is Anthony Hopkins as Hitchcock bet he will have to gaina ton of weight. Not a fan of either Jessica or Scarlett. Neither are very good actresses. Pretty, yes. Bueatiful, no. Kirsten Dunst would be great as Janet Leigh. I loved her in Melancholia.
So sad when hundreds of writers scripts are getting turned down the studio had to put money into a depressing theme…She can do better than this…She’s is so beautiful, so smart…this lowers her star power….
