After his abrupt exit from MSNBC last year, Keith Olbermann made his first TV appearance on CBS’ Late Show With David Letterman. He will do it again after his latest acrimonious departure, this time from Current TV. Olbermann will sit down with Letterman on Tuesday. During his previous visit, Olbermann called the offer to join Current TV “manna from heaven.” That probably won’t be the choice of words he will use about his now-ex-employer this time around. Last May, Letterman asked Olbermann about the nine employers he has left during his career and the state of the bridges he’s left behind. “Some people have said, I did not burn the bridges,” Olbermann said. “I have napalmed them. My argument was I did not burn the bridges, I burnt the rivers.” Ten months later, the only thing that has changed is the number of jilted employers, which has climbed to 10. Here is a video of last year’s chat:

This f’n guy. Just a silly, silly, sad man….
There’s nothing funny about Olbermann and Letterman should be happy to destroy Keith but Dave won’t have the guts to really rip into him. Olbermann is a frankenstein monster he’s an enormous jerk and everyone who works with him comes to hate everything about him. He’s been fired from every broadcasting job he’s ever had it’s time for him to be gone.
I bet Dave won’t let him off easy. In Keith’s last visit Dave did ask about all the jobs he’s been fired from, so it’s not like he ignored the elephant in the room.
Odds of Dave uttering this line:
“Did you ever think the problem might be you?”
50%.
Sounds like the start of a Letterman Top 10 List: Top 10 Questions Dave Should Ask Keith.
Hey Keith, look in the mirror. The problem appears to be you. I think you need some professional help or better meds.
Olbermann has a tremendous talent for presenting items in the news with an entertainment spin. I badly wish he’d stop with politics and go back to what he’s best at: sports. I have no idea what it’s like to work for the man, but I’ve never heard good things. And while we’ve all had jobs that didn’t work out, 10 ex-employers with burnt bridges is a lot.
CBSSports just picked up Rome. Maybe they can grab Olbermann and Dan Patrick, too?
Won’t happen. Olbermann is toxic, just like Rosie and Roseanne. He has blathered so much leftist bilge that many would turn the channel right when his face appeared.
Wait – I take that back. It probably will happen. Libs run the sports networks, too, and they believe everyone thinks like they do. So Olbermann will get his own sports show, it will tank and he will go away screaming.
Biased much, savvy rightwingdude? I have no idea how Olbermann is to work with. He’s probably no different than numerous other egotistical TV/radio commentators/hosts such as O’Reilly, Letterman, Stern, etc. Leave their politics out of it.
I agree with your comment. I’ve enjoyed watching Olbermann and agree with much of what he says. I’ll miss him.
I have to agree with Mirror Mirror. While Mr. Obermann may be an inspiration for many (though many less in the last year) he seems to have great difficulty keeping his anger (and perhaps his ego) in check. The big question now is where else can he go? He’s gone through ten media employers; there are few TV options left for him at this point. I wouldn’t be surprised if his next move is to SirusXM where he can do his show on the radio.
Good question, where else can he go? Current TV was the minor leagues of TV Talk and he found a way to “F” that up. Radio may be the last place he can go, my guess a local station in a major liberal city.
He’s out of excuses, there are sportscasters who’d piss on their grandparents graves for a jobs at ESPN, FOX Sports and NBC Sports and he just threw them away….because he’s an asshole.
Go away Keith YOU are “Worst Person”!
who cares anymore?
Since when is taking a moral and legal stand considered a bad thing? Why shouldn’t Olbermann expect his various employers to keep their promises, both to him and to the money-printing licenses they’ve been handed by the American people who, after all, own the airwaves?
idiot. he is on cable, not ‘the airwaves’
Who could possibly hire this toxic waste now???, hpefully he just goes away forever.
My partner often appeared on his MSNBC show has political pundent representing the “right”. He always felt KO was a borderline personality type that could only function in a chaotic environment. An environment created by his own chaos. His MSNBC staff always had a PTSD look about them because of his relentless yelling off and on set about the most trivial matters. Satellite link broke near the end of an interview? He would scream at the producer. A live mic rubs against a guest tie as the fiddle with their jacket. He would scream at set grip that was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The guy was a piece of work.
wow, the knives are out! would never have thought a site like this wouldnt have expansive liberal thinkers loving olbermans style. he may be whatever as a human being, but he was the first on tv to GO AFTER Bush, and that took cajones. everybody cannot be everything.
So, he can be a bad person as long as he was the ‘first on tv to go after Bush.’ You have great standards.
Actually Phil Donahue on MSNBC was the first to “go after” Bush on TV and he got his show axed because of it. let me ask you something — do you think Keith O. was speaking from the heart when he made that political decision or was it just a shrewd business move? I submit it was the latter.
I’ve never met the guy, but I’ve got several friends back East who work in the national media and over the years they have shared with me story after story about this guy. Bottom line: He’s a selfish jerk who explodes at people without warning.
Burning bridges? OK. But now we’ve got a bridge too far because I don’t know where else this guy can go. Not that I care……
Current TV couldn’t pay Keith’s contract and Al Gore did his best to bring this crisis to a head to wipe out the $40 million he would have owed Keith over the next 4 years. There were reports that Current wasn’t paying bills on time. Current kept yanking around Keith’s role on the channel. Current kept loading up with “news” programs to make it the low budget MSNBC.
And the worst thing of all is bringing in Eliot Spitzer to take over Keith’s show. The man is a disgraced politician who couldn’t even keep a show going on CNN. And Spitzer had pretty much Al Gore threw at Keith used as an excuse to kick him out of CNN.
The idea that somehow Keith’s exit from numerous TV channels is all his fault is BS. There are enough people who class with the program directors that are utterly clueless. I was pals with the top morning guy in my region. He told me how after his shift, they’d end up with a 3 hour meeting with the program director where this loser would go on for 20 minutes on how to improve giving the current temperature. As if it mattered.
Current TV will always be barely a set up from a Community Access channel in production value – and it will get even worse as it gets rid of location reporting for putting cameras inside radio stations to give 3 hours of simulcast.
Whether that’s the case or not, Keith shouldn’t have missed 19 out of 41 works days in January & February, and still expect to keep his job.
Really? 10 different high end networks (well 9, as Current is a joke)! It’s him!
Keith is a brilliant media personality. He seems to be a “perfectionist”-what is wrong with that? I miss him already and hope he goes to another prime TV time slot. This country needs his insight and analysis. I want to hear him during this election cycle. He speaks the truth with drama and urgency.
Funny how blowhards like O’Reilly, Limbaugh ad nauseam can go on and on, yet somehow Olbermann is the “worst person in the worldddddd.” Give me a fucking break, you dumb-ass Righties.
KO’s next move? Straight to the Internet/YouTube like Beck and the old Young Turks show.

If Keith had any real integrity and courage he’d run for senate or congress and show all the politicos just how smart he thinks he is. He’s always criticizing politicians so it’s time for him to step up to the plate himself and show everyone how he can hit a home run and get elected to Washington. He should be able to beat any Republican anywhere even an incumbent somewhere. If he can’t it’s proof he’s all talk and no action. There’s still plenty of time for him to get on the ballot for November he just has to figure out where he can win and go for it. He won’t ever do this because he’s a coward with a big mouth and an even bigger head he’s the ultimate egomaniac.
