MTV has ordered new seasons of veteran reality franchises The Challenge and The Real World. The Challenge has been renewed for a 23rd season, The Real World for 28th. Both hail from Bunim/Murray. The most recent Challenge: Battle of the Exes cycle was the most-watched in seven seasons, averaging nearly 2 million viewers a week, while the two most recent editions of Real World delivered the franchise’s best season average (The Real World: Las Vegas) and highest-rated debut (The Real World: San Diego) in five seasons. Real World‘s 27th season, The Real World: St. Thomas, is now filming for a premiere later this year.

If they were smart, they’d renew “Road Rules” in its original no-vote format ASAP. Way overdue, and lasted 13 seasons for a reason. Just because the final 2 had poor casting doesn’t mean the franchise as a whole should be done.
MTV, do it.
These shows are disgusting. It’s filled with the same losers from the past seasons whose only talent is to hook up and pass along their STD’s as their career. And when they are not doing that, they are either bartending, waitressing or hosting at Saddle Ranch.
There are a lot more “disgusting” shows on tv.
MTV is everything that’s wrong with young America.

I miss when The Real World was a good show. Now it’s only about hooking up and partying. I keep hoping for a refreshing season.
Good news.
Look, I watch lots of scripted fair– Justified, Fringe, House of Lies, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, etc. I like well-written, well acted dramas. BUT, I make an exception for The Challenge. They are some of the dumbest, prettiest people on earth involved in high-stakes physical challenges and watching them bicker and out politic each other is too good to miss. I don’t watch anything else on MTV and pretty much don’t watch anything else in the reality genre. Just wanted to make the point that there’s a place for frivolous programming like this and watching it in moderation doesn’t make you a moron.

Maybe so but if these so-called losers win the Challenge show and come in 1-3 place in six weeks of time they still make more money in that short of time then at your boring job at Subway
I’m so excited about both of these. The Challenge is my favorite show on TV. It’s a guilty pleasure that me and my friends look forward too. I too wish Road Rules would get renewed…….I liked it a lot better then The Real World. I also like the voting off that happened in Road Rules…it made it more interesting, and the stakes were higher.
