NBC will launch NBC Kids, a new Saturday morning block programmed by preschool service Sprout. Launching July 7, it will replace the current Qubo block, which has been airing on Saturday mornings for the past six years. NBCUniversal has ownership in Sprout via Comcast, which is a partner in the venture alongside PBS, Sesame Workshop and Apax Funds. NBC used to program its Saturday morning kids block until 2002 when, amidst decline in kids advertising, it got out of the business and brought in Discovery Kids to program the block for four years.

LAME!!!! BRING BACK SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS AND QUIT SCREWING THE CARTOONS UP. Nobody wants to watch that preschool crap on a saturday morning. You know how I know? I used to be a preschool kid. But back then I would watch FOX Kids instead of stupid crap like this. NBC Fails yet again but that’s no surprise. Oh and the FCC can go piss off. Yeah, I know all about their BS for putting stupid programming like this on. PISS OFF!
I’ll second that…
I’ll third that!
NBC has strong, highly rated kids shows from the 1950′s to the early 1990′s.
Same goes for the OTA Multi-casters like ANTENNA TV and ME-TV I/E programing on the weekend mornings rather than classic kids shows and ‘toons!
This type of programing is why there is a PBS!
You can just turn the TV off and let your kids go out and play in the park on a Saturday morning.
Hey, brah I’m not a parent so don’t even do that to me. Playing outside is good and is healthy but when you want to crash and relax, wouldn’t you want to be entertained with good tv shows and cartoons?
This is GREAT NEWS!!! My grandson loves Sprout. We watch it together. We love Calliou, Fireman Sam, Kipper, and most recently The Wiggles. Great move for both NBC and Sprout. Love it, Sandra and ScooterBug
