Bill Maher’s profane characterizations of women including Sarah Palin are “not excusable in any way,” President Obama’s chief election strategist David Axelrod says a day after word spread that he backed out of of an appearance on HBO’s Real Time With Bill Maher. But he adds in an interview running tonight on CNN’s Erin Burnett OutFront that Rush Limbaugh’s blasts at Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke were worse: “He’s the de facto boss of the (Republican) party.” Although Limbaugh apologized for calling Fluke a “slut” and “prostitute,” Axelrod says the attacks were part of “a perverse soliloquy.” Here’s the clip:

whaaaaattt? this is insane. next you’ll be labeled a bigot if you think call someone “dumb”, or worse, “an idiot”. and i guess a double bigot if that someone happens to be sarah fucking palin. all i can say is JFC! and bill, get your money back.
Sarah Palin has earned millions of dollars by voluntarily embracing the media spotlight and spouting her controversial and polemical views. She ditched a life of actual public service in favor of finding any any camera she can and using it as a cash-generating machine, typically by making controversial comments and launching personal attacks.
Trying to compare media-whore multimillionaires like Palin with a student who testifies a single time before a congressional subcommittee is absolutely ludicrous. There is no equivalency between the two in any shape or form.

Sandra Flucke put herself in the spotlight with an orchestrated glorified press meeting which was revealed to be managed and coordinated by a former Obama staffer. She is hardly a student, a 30 year old lifer who’s boyfriend is a 37 year old trust fund baby who produces crap web tv and television. If they can’t afford contraception, then they shouldn’t be screwing because I don’t want someone with a low IQ breeding. If Flucke was a real college kid and not a lifer, I would be a little more sympathetic, but not here.
I wish people would read and research the facts before they react viscerally with talking points.

You are focusing on the targets (the women) and not the offenders (Bill and Rush.) Neither woman should be attacked in such a way, no matter their background.

Can we agree all gender-based attacks are outside the bounds of civility? Both Maher’s and Limbaugh’s attacks were equally bad.
It’s ok to disagree with each other, but we shouldn’t be stooping to name calling based on gender, sexual orientation, race, or just about anything else not related to the content of the speaker’s message.
I find it hilarious that american democrats think that they are more “open minded” or “free” and of course more forward thinking and etc…………. you are all beig played morons there are NO differences between both parties….. Maher is a comedian. Limbaugh is not. Limbaugh is one of the runners of the Republican Party. There is a big difference.
The Republican Party is scared to death to speak out against Limbaugh. It happened a year ago, and the person had to go on Limbaugh’s show and apologize.
Rush speaks for that side of the isle. It’s a much bigger deal, and Limbaugh has said the most atrocious things imaginable for over 20 years. He should have been pulled from the airwaves a long time ago.
One last point, Maher is a Libertarian, not a Democrat, and not a Liberal.

Maher is a comedian, unlike Rush, and the type of comedian that says fringe things to get a rise from his audience. Maher doesn’t actually think this way about women, unlike Rush who practically coined the term “feminazi” and has waged war on women’s rights, the main issue of the original story, for over 20 years.
