EXCLUSIVE: Oscar Isaac has been set to star opposite Elizabeth Olsen, Jessica Lange and Tom Felton in Therese. Olsen plays the title character, who is trapped in a loveless marriage to her sickly first cousin, Camille (Felton), and living with his mother (Lange). She begins an illicit love affair with Camille’s friend Laurent, which leads to a tragic outcome for all three. Isaac will play that role. Charlie Stratton adapted the Emile Zola novel Therese Raquin, and will direct. It’s being produced and will be distributed by LD Entertainment, with William Horberg and Mickey Liddell are producing.
Though his character had an early exit in the Nic Refn-directed Drive, Isaac just played the lead in Inside Llewyn Davis, the film directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. He’ll next be seen in The Bourne Legacy, and Ten Year, which he starred in an ensemble that includes Channing Tatum and Anthony Mackie. Isaac wrote an original song and performed it in the movie, and also did the singing in the Coen brothers fllm. He’s repped by UTA, Inspire Entertainment and SMGSB.

When did Lange replace Glenn Close in this movie?
I liked the version of this that was called THIRST, in which the main character was a vampire priest, even though THERESE RAQUIN does not contain either vampires or priests.
What ever happened to Glenn Close? She was attached to this project for almost a decade and was announced to star alongside Olsen just recently. Very sad news.
Good god. I want that man in everything I watch for the rest of forever.
What does forever and a day look like?
Oscar Issac’s sweet face.
He’s the only game I Hunger for.
I 100% agree!
I love DJ Catrona!
Weren’t they out to Fassbender?? Good for Oscar!! He is on his way to being a star!!
Good for him; he’s quite versatile and talented. I must have seen him in three or four different films before realizing it was the same actor.
I think Oscar is a good actor, i like what i have seen him in. but i tell u one thing for sure, he is not very good-looking man. i know they had trouble casting the character, but they wanted handsome, seems they had to settle. Having read the script, i think its a shame because he is meant to be smoulderingly sexy. but having said that i’m sure he’ll do a good job.
Honestly I’m quite dissappointed to hear that Glenn Close won’t be in this movie, I was really looking forward to seeing it before.
Nothing against Jessica Lange, but I too was really hoping to see Glenn Close in this movie. She’s terrific on Damages!
btw, Jessica Lange doing the ‘grasping older woman/mother’ role is a reprise. Cousin Bette, anyone? Coulda picked any of a handful of more interesting women in their 60s.
I like Jessica Lange alot, but I am so sad, i really, really wanted to see Glenn Close in this movie, I want to know why, she is so great in everything, and this looks like a major role. So sad, I want Glenn Close!
Well, I, for one love Ms Lange. She’s far more interesting than Close, and a much better actress as well. I can’t wait to see how she and Ms Olsen work togethe. I think the switch is great news and am very excited.
What about Glenn Close? Hope she’s still in the film…
Jessica is a great actress…like Glenn so much too…maybe she had a schedule conflict…Love Tom Felton…can’t wait to see him in this…such a great young actor…Oscar and Jessica will be interesting to watch as “meanies” rather that finally “good guy”
Tom….just waiting with anticipation…When?
Glenn Close is a good actress but I’m glad Jessica Lange took her place. I think she’s much better but that’s just my humble opinion. Can’t wait to see Jessica in it!
