EXCLUSIVE: Ron Moore has signed a new two-year overall deal with Sony Pictures TV. Under his current pact with the studio, the Battlestar Galactica developer/executive producer sold several projects, one of which, magical cop drama 17th Precinct, went to pilot at NBC last season. Moore will continue to develop series projects through his production company Tall Ship Prods. with producing partner Maril Davis. Before joining Sony TV in 2010, Moore had three consecutive overall deals at NBC Uni’s Universal Media Studios that were tied to Moore’s services on Syfy’s Battlestar Galactica. Star Trek veteran Moore, repped by CAA, started his writing career on Next Generation and also spent five years on Deep Space Nine. He then served as co-executive producer/co-showrunner on the WB’s Roswell and as executive producer/showrunner on HBO’s Carnivale before segueing to Battlestar Galactica.

Sony bologna.
this dude rocks give him all the money he wants!
Good for Ron Moore. It is a shame none of his project got picked up this cycle hopefully the next cycle bring Ron Moore back to television. I know it is a long shot, but it would be a dream come true if he could collaborate with Marvel to bring one of those Marvel series that are in development hell to the TV screens. I am also still interested to see what becomes of Hangtown.
One of the best sci-fi writers on the planet–and he absolutely has another masterpiece or two left in him. Go Ron!
How about a series hosted by Ron where he teaches Tim Kring and Brannon Braga how to tell a compelling hour of television?
I usually cringe when Hollywood makes its picks, but Moore is a creative rock star. He’s been at the helm of some of my favs: Battlestar, Touching Evil, Carnivale, Good vs. Evil, and TNG. If you haven’t seen his work, then shame on you (get thee to Netflix ASAP). Carnivale was and remains amazing. I can’t wait to see Outlander finally come to the small screen and I believe Mr. Moore will do Diana Gabaldon’s amazing work justice.
Our group of six has been waiting for this for years. Such a wonderful story. We hang on the edge of our seats until the next one comes out. It will be interesting to see who plays Jammie and Claire. They would have to be special actors for sure. Can’t wait and hope its a mini series like the other great ones on HBO. Have you thought of doing this in Scotland or England. Perfect background and props.
Please please don’t put “Outlander” on HBO I have waited so long as many have and hbo will limit who gets to watch it. I don’t get HBO and want to see this when it is completeed. I agree yes England or better yet Scotland for the earlier location the the Carolina’s for the rest with so many beautiful and historical areas available for the outside shots, a lot of the books take place in these area and long time fans have checked out all of them. This could launch some peoples careers in the casting I hope some new faces get a break for this one. We need the new great super stars of tomorrow as some of the great ones are aging like the rest of us mortals do.
