EXCLUSIVE: TV Land has hired Rose Catherine Pinkney as VP Development and Original Programming. Based in Los Angeles, she will oversee TV Land’s existing original series and the development of new ones, working alongside VP Brad Gardner and reporting to EVP Development and Original Programming Keith Cox. “It is rare to find someone who has a wealth of experience with multi-camera sitcoms, a format our audience knows and loves,” Cox said. “Rose Catherine is a creative force who is well-respected by many of the writers that we are in business with, as well as the community at large.” Pinkney spent almost a decade in the comedy department of Paramount Network TV, where she shepherded the sales of more than 30 projects, several of which went to series including Becker, Girlfriends and Andy Richter Controls the Universe. Pinkney also served as EVP Programming and Production for TV One. Most recently, she was Head of Television for Laurence Fishburne’s Cinema Gypsy Prods. TV Land’s slate of original series includes Hot In Cleveland, Happily Divorced, Retired At 35, The Exes and the upcoming Cleveland spinoff The Soul Man.

Have worked with RC for a long time, great hire TV Land.
She’s a perfect match for the network: A mediocre hire for a mediocre network
Haha!!
Haven’t worked with RC but have always heard good and respectful things about her. Congrats TV Land.
That’s fantastic hire for Tv Land..!!
She’s a smart exec with fantastic taste.
G
Great to see a minority hire of this caliber! TV Land, lead the way! BRAVO!!!!
Hm, maybe “Bravo” wasn’t the right choice. KUDOS!!!
Although I plan to congratulate her personally, I wanted the entire community to know that I am so happy for and proud of RCP.
Another re-tread. Aren’t there ANY new tv executives available? Do you really have to go with someone who has failed before?
Ed, I hope you say the same thing about MALE executives who have failed.
Ed, your arrogance exceeds your reasoning. Every executive has failed much more often than he has succeeded. Remember, success requires that every single aspect of a show — writing, casting, directing, network appetite, promotion, timing, and fifty other things — have to work and align perfectly. But there is no substitute for experience, and failures teach as much as success. This “throw the bums out” attitude is poisoning our political system, where there’s a fantasy that a clean slate will somehow cure all of our ills. Lack of know-how is not the answer.
Oh Ed
Ed, Ed, Ed? Who says she’s failed? She’s produced and developed quality programming. Shows do wrap and move on into syndication land and Exec’s do move on. The guards change and that’s just the way Hollywood goes. What in the world are you talking about? Disgruntled much?
Congrats, Rose Catherine!
So excited for Rose Catherine and TVLand! It’s a perfect match! She’s smart, funny, ALWAYS a breath of fresh air. As are the shows on TVland and REALLLLLLY looking forward to their new programming Excited TVland is expanding with Soul Man – Cedric The Entertainer. Sounds like Tvland is the ONLY network that’s going to have some SOUL ! Congratulations to Rose Catherine.
Rose Catherine is not only a dear friend, she’s a source of inspiration. She’s not only well-loved and respected, she’s lightning-smart,authentic and kind – a rarity in Hollywood.
“Ed”- to have failed at something is also to have learned, grown and gained wisdom. Hopefully anyway. What’s YOUR track record?
Here’s a twist: VC’s in Silicon Valley actually prefer to fund entrepreneurs who have failed – as opposed to those who think they have nothing to learn. And frankly, if a 100% “success” rate is the criteria for promotion in Hollywood – then almost NONE of the top executives in the industry would be employed. Didn’t you know? Hollywood is a smug little ecosystem where failing upward (and very often, being promoted to the level of one’s incompetence) is THE norm. And none have benefited more spectacularly from this arrangement than MEN. Most all of whom are WHITE.
Have great day.
