This whimsical indie was inspired by a classified ad seeking “someone to go back in time with me” — Safety Not Guaranteed. The feature debut of director Colin Trevorrow and screenwriter Derek Connolly screened at Sundance and South by Southwest earlier this year. Aubrey Plaza, Mark Duplass, Jake Johnson and Karan Soni star in the FilmDistrict release slated to open June 8.

Cute.
This movie is amazing!
Saw this movie — Jake Johnson is truly hilarious.
WTF! Where’s the mullet guy?! The mullet guy makes the text funny. It doesn’t work without the mullet guy. Based on the trailer, I thought Mike Cahill directed this b/c it looks a lot like ANOTHER EARTH.
Flippin’ awesome. I’m in.
That looks beautiful and I’m mad/sad that I didn’t make it.
great/smart idea.
This is one of the sweetest, best natured, big hearted movies I’ve seen in the years. At times it’s also very funny and the ending *NO SPOILER*………… had me on the edge of my seat, wondering how it would resolve. I don’t earn a cent if you go see it, but don’t let that stop you.
I don’t think the trailer does the film justice. This is my favorite film I saw at Sundance this year. Great performances. Great story. Jake does steal every scene he was in. Kristen Bell was used to get financing I guess. Her character is crucial to the story, but I think they could have put any actress in her place. Very short screen time.
It’s just so… open & honest. A film that doesn’t appear to have a ton of cynical hands in it trying to appeal to the largest common denominator. Haven’t seen it but I love it already & plan to see it twice.
I’m definitely in. It’s rare these days to get me to say that, but this did it.
Yes! Finally! A story-driven flick without CGI and 3D hype! This is worth the damn 15 bucks!
Is the “industrial laser” ad below it a reference to the ill fated Blue Oyster Cult 1975 tour (where they accidentially used an industrial laser, risking blinding the entire audience)
aubrey plaza. jake johnson. yes.
Another Earth sucked — thank God this isn’t directed by the same hack.
How is this a tentpole franchise? We were promised a movie that can be a theme park attraction and we were prepared to spend $350 Million on it. This looks like it was made in a weekend for less than we spend on lunch for all of Bruckheimer’s Lone Ranger cast and crew. This is not what we were promised and I don’t see how we can sell it as a four quadrant summer blockbuster.
I’ve seen it and can write that it’s honestly unique. Doesn’t have the problems that mumblecore movies do — this has real story momentum like a genre movie. Also is interesting the way it deals with being in your 30′s. Makes sense that the writer and director are that age (and you can see that they must have grown up on Amblin movies. Positive influence on the plot).
Trailer looks promising. Can’t wait to see it. Good luck to all.
I’m going to see this. Looks great.
Reminds me in some ways of Happy Accidents.
