SNL: Worst Sarah Palin Impression Ever?, SNL: Jonah Hill Can’t Shut Up About Oscar, SNL: Rush Limbaugh’s New Advertisers
Jonah Hill was no match for Lindsay Lohan in the TV ratings department. Last night’s Saturday Night Live hosted by Hill drew a 4.3/11 household rating/share in the metered markets, below the season average for the late-night show and down 22% from last week’s SNL hosted by Lohan. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, last night’s show featuring musical guest The Shins averaged a 2.6/12 among adults 18-49, down 21% from last week.

That’s because he has zero charisma and no range. He plays the same ‘character’ in everything. Delivers his lines exactly the same all the time. It was funny in a movie or two, but now it’s just boring. Hate to be so negative, but I just get so sick of a few of these guys who keep getting big roles and play it the exact same way as the last time. (seth rogen, jonah, et al)
Seth Rogen is the guy that applies to these complaints, not Jonah Hill. Witness: Money Ball, his two SNL hosting appearances and I’m assuming 21 Jump Street, which looks great from the ads (where he’s pulling off the commercial Hollywood action-comedy much better than others of his generation).
I thought he was GREAT last night, sorry to spoil the hatin’ mood.
I mean, Andrew the SIX YEAR-OLD CATSKILLS-STYLE COMEDIAN?! C’MON, that’s genius.
Yeah, but notice in Money Ball, he was playing the straightman, and not a comedic goof. He may well have a better career with those sorts of roles than in comedies from here on out.
If you need more proof that his funny guy days are over, and The Sitter wasn’t enough to convince you, wait for 21 Jump Street to bomb.
Judging from your comments, you must be “Six!”— “Six!”, as well.
“21 Jump Street, which looks great from the ads ”
Which ads are you seeing? The ones I have seen tell me it is stupid and unfunny on a galactic scale
The Catskill skit “genius”? Are you for real? I have NEVER seen a skit that was so dead awful in my life on SNL and that’s saying a lot. Jonah Hill seems like a nice fellow, but he is no host of anything, and he’ll be in the dumpster very soon unless he can up his game. What’s with this group of actors, I,e, Zach (who I must confess I love just because he is who he is) Will Farrell, Jason Sudakis(?), all of Judd’s boys and girls, etc., same old same old and now becoming an ensemble for all these lame rom-Coms (oh, how I hate that expression) and getting big bucks for their services. Has anyone out there heard of originality coupled with real humor? Guess not, because all the former good ones are on a losing streak and suffering from mega over-exposure. Oh, well. The next fad will appear soon and then will be run into the ground.
You could say the same thing about Adam Sandler.
“because he has zero charisma and no range.”
Describes Jason Siegal to a tee.
Two particular annoyances. His slavishness to the cue cards. At least look back and forth at them like newscasters used to do with their copy. And that opening bit poking fun at his Oscar image along with not having won it. It still came off as egotistical. Yet another example of a “movie star” being marketed to us who isn’t worthy of the title yet.
Thank you for saying that. I just don’t get it. I was shocked he was nominated for an Oscar for anything.and I don’t get 21 Jump Street- it has nothing to do with the TV show- it was originally two guys & a girl. What happened to her? This will bomb, it looks lame
As soon an I saw the host, I lost interest and played computer games.
people are smart..it was down in the ratings and not funny…
Hollywood has decided that Jonah Hill is a person worthy of celebrity status and a good actor. I’m not so sure everybody else is convinced.
The Shins being the musical guest didn’t help matters. They’re awfully boring. I don’t know one person who enjoys them.
I do! And you know me because you watch my show every week! So take it back!
4th post on SNL this morning? wow
This show was once the gold standard in cutting edge comedy, now it’s just a hot steaming pile.
The show’s so disappointing this year that I didn’t even bother to watch. Sounds like I didn’t miss much.
One of the most solid SNLs from start to finish I’ve seen in years.
… and the Shins to boot!
Were you on something while watching that crapfest?
Jonah Hill is one of the sweetest kids in show business.
Sweet =/= entertaining, which is a problem in show business.
he may be sweet , but that doesn’t translate into talent
of course ratings are down vs last week.
to paraphrase what Daniel Craig & John Hamm were talking about; ‘idiots draw in more idiots’.
it is what it is. *shrug*
Hill did a hell of a lot better than Blowhan did. All haters deserve a double punch to the nutsack.
This show has been so unfunny for such a long time. The sketches go on far too long and they’re awful. I loved this show at one point in my life and now it’s simply a waste of airtime.
Jonah always seem angry and uncomfortable. It doesn’t make for a pleasant viewing experience – why I stopped watching him. Plus, that Fox animated show OMG – who green lit that?
Who are the people commenting on this thing? That was the funniest SNL all year! Jonah hill is even funnier than the cast!! Are you just Jonah haters or are you on drugs? Jonah killed it
Sorry, but this one was a stinker … Jonah couldn’t be bothered to learn his lines, a la Lohan … and those sketches … ugh they don’t know when to stop.
We used to eagerly anticipate SNL but those days are long gone with the advent of Kristen Wiig (she is the most aggravating “comedian” on that show) and her ilk, and the insistence of tres boring hipster doofi musical guests such as The Shins and Bon Iver.
SNL = DVROFF
Who played the ape that talked? That was a seriously great performance. It got to a place where it was actually kind of disturbing yet touching. That is very, very rare for a sketch.
And Jonah Hill as the samurai on J POP AMERICA FUN TIME? Awesome. Totally elevated that sketch and kept it going better than past guest characters.
I’ve pretty much had enough with everyone that talks shit on this website. Jonah Hill absolutely killed it last night on SNL, and if you think otherwise its due to the fact you have zero sense of humor and simply exist for the purpose of thinking that you can do everything better yourself. I would love to see anyone here step up and write and perform anything half as good as what SNL has been doing for over 35 years. You can criticize all you want about how the show is shit but in truth its been a staple of comedy for over over 3 decades and some of the brightest writers and comedians have gone on to have legendary careers and made incredible work. Yea people make shit once in a while, its life, if everything was perfect we wouldnt have to deal with envious shit talking from nobody wannabees all the time.
As for the ratings, yea you knew they were gonna be shit compared to last week. people in general are much more interested in seeing public figures actually fuck up live on tv than produce content that is actually entertaining. Everyone watched to see what lohan couldnt do and they go none of what they wanted. that show sucked, lohan sucked, and her talent had faded.
in summary. haters, grow up, open your minds, and shut the fuck up
and Jonah Hill killed it
“haters, grow up” is such an odd remark to me.
After all, you can’t use the word “haters” without sounding 12.
if you cant get past the rhetoric of an argument how can be expected to grasp the point?
Wow, that’s a very angry response. I really hope you’re the mother of someone who workson the show, otherwise that reaction is totally out of scale.
SNL is no longer the best or only game in town for comedians. Dave Chappelle found *huge* success doing a show on his own; Tim & Eric are killing it and helping to launch careers of people who work with them (Zack Galifinaukus being the most famous); The Daily Show is a hotbed of new comedic talent.
SNL used to be a great show, but those days are behind it. Now it’s an ok show with occasionally hilarious jokes.
SNL hasn’t had good comedy at least two decades . The original cast was great. Its just not funny -period
Kristen Wiig as Liza Minnelli was hysterical. Jonah Hill, not so much.
SP – Do you work for SNL? You’re filled with rage;) These posts are right. SNL has stunk for many many years. Unfunny sketches that go on much too long. It’s all true. Yes, it used to be great but, it’s over, Johnny! This show STINKS. Jonah sucked bad last night (sorry, but it’s true) … and I loved Superbad!
It was the WRITING folks! It was abysmal. SNL has always been wildly erratic over it’s 30 years. Which makes me wonder because the Daily Show and Colbert can consistently turn out four 30 minute shows each week and the writing is consistently high. Why is SNL always falling apart? Perhaps it’s Lorne.
It sucked, he was not funny, the show is never funny and if Seth Meyers smirks anymore during weekend update he should be fired. He is awful.
The sketch where Jonah played the talkative Jewish 6-year old was hilarious. This is a talented versatile actor with a bright future ahead of him.
I really wish they’d get Seth Meyers a co-host on Weekend Update. What used to be the most consistently entertaining segment has now become painful to sit through…
SNL’s been pretty weak over the last few years, despite a really talented cast, but I actually thought last night’s episode was funny. Jonah gets comedy and was at least trying to be good. Lohan was just a mess, as usual. Lorne should be ashamed for bringing her on just for ratings again.
