SNL: Lindsay Lohan’s Lame SNL Monologue
Creatively, last night’s Lindsay Lohan-hosted Saturday Night Live felt like a letdown after the strong, star-studded previous episode hosted by Maya Rudolph. But in the ratings, it was anything but. SNL, fronted by the tabloid fixture as well as musical guest Jack White, drew a 5.5/14 in metered-market households last night. That was up 12% from the Maya Rudolph edition and the second-highest SNL rating this season, behind only the football-inflated January 7 telecast (8.2/19), which aired on the night of NBC’ coverage of the Lions-Saints NFL Wildcard playoff game. Versus the same night last year, the late-night show was up 2%. In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, SNL averaged a 3.3/15 among adults 18-49, up 14% from the last original and again the second-highest rating this season behind the 4.6/18 of January 7.
TV Editor Nellie Andreeva - tip her here.

You see, TV producers? You need to cast her on your shows! Do it before all the excitement to seeing her will be gone. Cast her on some sitcom asap!
Reply to Jinjeon: LOL… cast her in shows? Really? You must be a ‘fan.’ The only reason people tuned in to see her on SNL was to see how well she’d do as the good actress ‘she was’; she bombed. Sad to say. Let’s give some unknown ‘talented actors’ a shot. But to side with the producers, smart move. You got the audience to watch the show, which means you made the network $$$, which is the object of the game; kudos to you.
I don’t care what anyone says… that woman is astoundingly sexy. In every skit I couldn’t take my eyes off her.
Sexy in a skeletal, zombie-like way…
what a great idea:))))))
its a funny sexy comedy
will be casting her to our film “how to fail in Hollywood”
Guys, why is everyone on here claiming that people that hated Lohan’s SNL are just “hating” on her?? The bottom line is that SHE DIDN’T KNOW ANY OF HER LINES!! She was reading through the whole episode!! It looked to me as though she hadn’t acted a day in her life. NONE of her lines were funny, due to timing, her not knowing lines, or just the writing. The people on here that aren’t up front about this just simply didn’t watch her skits, and for that I respect you that much more!
Creatively, SNL went downhill a long, long time ago. That people still have any respect for it is a testament to previous casts.
i totally agree! every week, i wait to laugh and every week i say that i’m not going to record it anymore. but, i hold out hope for another “Mother Lover” moment.
Justin Timberlake was pretty reliable for a laugh, but he’s not a castmember & (hate to say it…) the last time he was on, it wasn’t great.
The Maya Rudolph episode wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great like the old days!
Chris Parnell was awesome! Rachel Dratch, Amy Pohler, Maya Rudolph, etc…hilarious!
That being said, I didn’t think that Lindsay sucked… I thought it was kind of funny that she was making fun of herself…
Put it this way, I’ve seen worse – WAY worse. Almost every freaking week for probably the last three years, if not more!
You are incorrect
A lot of people will watch a train wreck, but that doesn’t make it entertaining. Especially when it turns out to just be a near collision.
Wow….wouldn’t a Train-Wreck Channel on cable be GREAT? Lots of Addams Family episodes and movies, Lindsay Lohan, and…. well, Lindsay Lohan?
Seriously, friends, it’s called “Show Business” for lots of reasons, but the business portion of the
show is exceptionally leery of basing millions of dollars on a production that could be derailed
by a self-indulgent and destructive brat-woman. Right now she’s behaving (and living on
royalties)– if her track record remains okay, perhaps in time Lohan can play supporting roles.
But not now.
Kris
Further proof that talent is not required for ratings.
Britney Spears delivered high rating for HIMYM back in 2007 at the height of her lunacy as there was a curiosity factor. Lohan, who has been a train-wreck for 6 straight years, landed a few guest appearances on Ugly Betty in 2008 as a result of the Britney ratings spike. The novelty is gone for me as Lohan looks hideous. High definition brings out the worst in even attractive people. SNL was not a photo shopped or airbrushed like the Playboy Magazine spread.
What world are you in? She guest starred AFTER she had her issues. People tune into Britney regardless of what state her life is in… That’s why she still sells records this many years later. Take note, Gaga.
Again – your whole Britney point is misguided.
Lohan has GOT to do something about her too blonde brassy hairstyle and the bloat in her face. It’s very sad to see how she’s destroyed her appearance- probably by a combination of drugs, booze and surgery.
I thought she seemed timid and not confident on SNL/
Everyone will watch a train wreck. Sad for us all. Do these people who use her, really care about her at all? She wasn’t ready for live television. With her experience in show biz, it should have been better.
People like to bash-but I thought she did fantastic! And notice the high ratings! She’s so talented and intelligent-needs to get a good movie role!
Oh God…
The Lohan SNL was a solid B-. By far the best comedy on NBC last night was “The Firm.” More laughable every episode.
Long time viewer despite the poor writing… But she sucked. No confidence is right.
Perhaps Nbc should have marketed The Firm as a comedy. The way the plot is going-it’s hard to keep a straight face. The Firm is unintentonally more funny than most of Nbc’s comedies. Thank you.
Bravo Lindsay! Ignore the haters, none of them have ever done anything in their lives..Youre still young, you can do whatever you want..
“you can do whatever you want”
I believe that that advice has not served her well in the past.
She was dreadful. I watched the show and I have not watched SNL since the 70′s. i like to watch train wrecks
Same here. I only watched to see how bad she would be, and she didn’t disappoint. The whole show was awful. I didn’t even smile at any of the skits. And it would have been nice if she could have memorized at least some of her lines. The constant looking at the cue cards was really annoying. She’s nuts if she thinks that gig is going to jump-start her acting career.
I imagine that, if she’s watched the show at all in the past few years, she was under the impression that that’s how lines are delivered at SNL.
I think that nearly every cast member on SNL reads nearly every line from the cue cards these days! It’s distracting and it kills any chance of a laugh they might have hoped to deliver.
Lohan’s monologue sucked! SNL needs to borrow some of Jay’s writers! Jay is so much funnier than anyone to host SNL!!!!!!
Wake up, America – he’s the most talented guy out there.
Jay’s funny and his interviews are always so witty and funny. Did I mention that Jay was funny? If NBC were smart, they’d give Leno a 10pm show every night of the week.
I’m not a Lindsay Lohan cheerleader or anything, but anything to do with the writing on that show cannot be blamed on her.
SNL needs to get their old writers back from the Will Ferrell/Cheri O’Teri/Molly Shannon era, or the Horatio Saenz/Jimmy Fallon/Chris Parnell days.
And, you’re getting a little off topic to bring it up, but, while Jay Mohr is funny, I don’t know if I’d call him the most talented guy out there….
But, back to this topic, at this point with SNL, I’d have more respect for the show if Lorne Michaels showed some respect for it and ended it before it becomes more of a joke than it already is.
I’m just sad for her because she started out with so much talent and promise.
She really didn’t. She’s by far the weak point of Mean Girls. The sidekicks on each side made that movie work so well.
That’s a bit extreme. I bet you’re in the minority with that… everyone credits Mean Girls as her best movie; and she’s the weak point in it? Right.
I don’t like her at all anymore, but I did think she once had a lot of promise. She ruined her career. I loved her in Freaky Friday and highly enjoyed her in Mean Girls. I was going to watch SNL last night out of morbid curiosity but fell asleep before it came on so I missed it. Oh well. Doesn’t sound like I missed anything.
SNL: A lame, “conformist comedy” show that’s completely lacking an “edge.” Written and performed by second rate high school students.
THAT’S YOUR WAKE UP CALL, AMERICA!
RISE AND TAKE A SHINE… TO JAY!
Bring Anne Hathaway back on SNL ! She is the best female to host SNL in years- and she is one of the few hosts that can host without having her eyes glued to the cue cards . Anne knows how to be funny without being over-the-top like the overrated Emma Stone & the very excessive Melissa McCartney. Hathaway’s impressions of Judy Garland, Katie Holmes, & Mary Poppins were priceless.
P.S. Disney needs to hire Anne to portray Julie Andrews for that “Saving Mr. Banks” flick.
Yes, Anne Hathaway was wonderful on SNL. Anne was incredible as the hillbilly customer for the MegaMart commercial. She was only on screen for 10 seconds , and she was unbelievably funny. I agree Melissa McCartney was painfully overbearing hosting SNL – at least she gave her all.
In other words, she only drew ratings for NBC for all the wrong reasons due to her being in the news/headlines so much in a negative fashion. It just shows yet again, this woman needs some counseling and to get her life back on track or she is seriously going to find herself towards a very destructive path. Get out of the limelight Lohan and start taking control of your own life.
Lorne Michaels will never admit it, but Lohan’s appearance must have come with a cash-up-front dividend. Yeah, her hosting gig boosted viewership, but for how long? Were the numbers consistent throughout the show? My guess is that most viewers were tuned out by “Weekend Update.” But Lohan was hardly the big problem last night. The entire cast should be docked a week’s pay for the abysmal sketches. Thank God for DVR.
Honestly, her performance wasn’t very good last night, but it’s not really her fault. The skits overall just weren’t very funny. The opening monologue was sort of funny, and the Real Housewives of Disney skit showed some promise, but her other appearances were wasted. We’ve seen the Scared Straight skit a zillion times already, and only Betty White made it memorable. As for the kids dancing in the street, how many yuks can you get from someone being hit by a car several times?
I looked forward seeing this episode. It wasn’t that bad, but I’ve seen better. And yeah, I agree, bring Anne Hathaway back, she had me in stitches the last time.
It was tough to watch. Lohan is not compelling on any level, and the sketches were lame. The Disney thing had a few moments, but I was bored. At least Jack White performed well.
Go, Lindsay! Go! Get your life back!
