As it hinted following Dexter and Homeland‘s successful pairing last fall, Showtime is keeping the two dramas together for another cycle. The pay cable network has set September 30 as a premiere date for Dexter‘s seventh season and Homeland‘s second. The two series will again air at 9 PM (Dexter) and 10 PM (Homeland) on Sundays.

When will Showtime release HOMELAND on DVD??? I am shocked they did not capitalize on the Golden Globe win and release immediately after.
They’ll release the first season on DVD a month to three weeks before season 2 begins, so my guess is September 4th, possibly the 11th, depending on how they feel about Labor day affecting sales. This is standard practice, as it’s part of the ad campaign. They can ramp up interest for the release, as well as the new season, at the same time.
I could care less about Dexter at this point, as last season was even worse than the previous, but I’m counting down the minutes until Homeland’s return. Not just the best show of last season, but the most exciting show I’ve seen in years.
I agree.
I cannot wait for Homeland to return, but Dexter has fallen so far from it’s best days. The writing is all over the place and it was a mistake to steer away from having a single big bad per season. Sometime’s change for change’s sake is not a good idea. We were left with very mediocre bad guys and convoluted secondary subplots.
They’ve never recovered since Arthur Mitchell.
Exactly.
I like Colin Hanks as a person, and his live shows have been great, but I didn’t care for him at all last season. As for the “big twist,” I doubt anyone didn’t see it come a mile away. Cliche` is death for shows like Dexter, but that’s how far it’s fallen creatively.
DEXTER hit the skids when Doakes was killed off. It’s been hit-and-miss since, and mostly miss the last two seasons. Sad. It was a premise that had to be handled with far more subtlety and cheek than the writers were capable of. Now, even Michael C. Hall can’t save it. It’s just dreck.
Sadly, I agree. Miguel Prado in S3 was SO annoying. The show perked up with the brilliance that is John Lithgow, and then completely crashed again. Julia Stiles was probably the worst casting in the history of the show.
Admittedly, I’ve only seen the first 2-3 episodes of S6 but have no interest in catching up.
Happy Birthday to Claire Danes!
