Stockard Channing and Kurt Fuller have joined ABC’s single-camera pilot starring Mandy Moore and directed by Shawn Levy. The project, written by Bob Fisher and Stacy Traub, centers on newlyweds Annie (Moore) and Ben, who get the opportunity of a lifetime to run a hip, new restaurant in Annie’s hometown bringing her closer to her needy and high-maintenance family. Channing and Fuller will play Annie’s parents: her warm and devoted and sometimes overbearing and manipulative mother Barbara and good-natured dad Steve.
Jay Mohr has joined the CBS pilot Applebaum, directed by Chris Columbus. Based on Ayelet Waldman’s Mommy Track Mysteries series of books, Applebaum centers on Juliet Applebaum (Rachelle Lefevre), a former public defender who becomes a private investigator to keep from being bored to death as a stay-at-home mom. Mohr, repped by Gersh and manager Barry Katz, will play Juliet’s partner at the PI agency, a gun-toting, conspiracy theorist whose garage doubles as the agency’s office. Mohr, who recently recurred on ABC’s Suburgatory, just wrapped the feature Burt Wonderstone.

Jay Mohr gets more chances to be on TV than anyone in creation, but the reasons behind this remain unclear.
Oh yeah? Well, Jay deserves to be on TV, on radio, on film, hell, on the friggin’ moon in neon and fireworks with his pearly whites 50-feet high on a billboard made of diamond dust and excelsior. The man works his ass off, and a performer with that much hustle and that much heart deserves to be feted and admired by anyone and everyone. Where’s your talent? Another frigging mouth wonder who spouts off because he has the anonymity of the Interweb and doesn’t have to put his money where his half-assed opinion is. Go peddle your papers elsewhere, pee-wee.
That’s odd, because I’d heard the part was offered to Stockard Channing Tatum.
He’s really on fire this year.

Still think “The Mommy Track Mysteries” is a way cooler title than “Applebaum.”
Agreed about Mohr. What can I say, great agent?
Chad: not funny.
That is all.
The untitled Mandy Moore project (which has gone by both You and Us and The Family Trap at different stages of development) was my favorite comedy script this whole pilot season. Channing is perfectly cast in the best role of the bunch. Really, really excited for this.
