March 20 2012: STUDIOCANAL announced today that Robb Smith has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer of the UK operations (reporting to CEO Danny Perkins), and to Executive Vice President Global Digital Strategy (reporting to Matthieu Zeller).
Having joined the company in 2009, Robb Smith was previously STUDIOCANAL’s Head of Television & New Media in the UK, and Executive Vice President, International Television.
As COO of the UK operations, Robb Smith will be responsible for the management and growth of STUDIOCANAL’s home entertainment, television and new media businesses on the UK market.
As EVP Global Digital Strategy, his responsibilities will include the development and implementation of a cohesive digital strategy for international distribution and the institution of best practices among primary operating territories (France, Germany, UK). In addition, Robb will coordinate negotiations with worldwide/ pan-European existing and emerging VOD and SVOD platforms.
Prior to joining STUDIOCANAL in 2009, Robb had been with MGM TV Europe, initially as Vice President, European TV, and from 2006, Senior Vice President, European TV, responsible for MGM’s television & new media licensing throughout Europe, Middle East and Africa. From 2000 to 2003, he was Vice President, Sales Operations for Universal Studios Television Distribution and from 1996 to 2000, Vice President, Global Marketing Strategy for the Universal Television & Networks Group. Robb is a Sloan Fellow (London Business School, 2006) and has an MSc in Management.
