The logo for Man Of Steel was released this week on the film’s Facebook page, and it confirms that director Zack Snyder and writers Christopher Nolan and David S. Goyer are creating a moody, atmospheric and edgy Superman for Warner Bros. From the moment the first stills were released last summer, it was clear this summer 2013 tentpole would be darker than previous versions. The iconic “S” that has been part of the Superman look from the time Joe Shuster designed him in 1932 is still there, but with a more ominous look. Henry Cavill takes over as Clark Kent/Superman, with Amy Adams on board as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Jonathan and Martha Kent and Michael Shannon as the villain, General Zod. Warner Bros is keeping most plot details under wraps as it builds anticipation for what it hopes will be a blockbuster franchise on the order of its Nolan-helmed Batman movies.

Doesn’t give the effect of a powerful super hero or the like.
Sunkist? Starburst?
Is that a Nike logo on it?
can’t wait to see how badly every fanboy loser complains about this…
To bother posting that, to be excited about the complaints – who’s the real loser jack?
By fanboy loser, you mean the audience this film is aimed at correct?
Superman, this movie, isn’t about the suit, the logo, Cavill, the rest of the cast, the visual effects or even Nolan.
This Superman is the either the reanimation or the destruction of the Zack Snyder myth.
Want to bet $10 Snyder will have at least one scene where the hyperkinetic action suddenly slows to a slow-mo, stop-start barrel roll or equivalent, with or without moisture effects?
I hope there’s more than one. I love his style.
Me too. That’s the best thing about Zack’s movies, the slow/fast, stop/start fight scenes (see: 300, Watchmen and Sucker Punch).
Listening to these dull, no-imagination fanboys is what gets you all this boring crap that lays dead on the screen.
Zack is a genius.
Just to clarify my earlier post, I also love Snyder’s style. He has a fantastic visual sense and unique trademark moves. People who criticize his previous films might have a fair beef with his storytelling abilities, but they are still a feast for the eyes.
Thank you WB! Finally something else nerds can masturbate to
Jill, first its geek not nerd. just like I wouldnt call you a beeotch, more like a misinformed venomous harpie. We don’t masterbate to a favorite franchises, we develop our artistic talent, rise to the top of our profession and tell women like your self to get lost while we date Victoria Secret models ( therefore there is no need to pleasure ourselves )
))))))
Christ..bitch and moan…about something no one has seen an inch of footage from. It’s clear that THIS Superman is going to be much larger in scope than any Superman before it. Which is EXACTLY what these comic property’s need. The logo looks great- powerful, dynamic. Let’s hope the film lives up to the logo!
Let’s all chill until we see some real footage from this extravaganza.
No Thanks Warner Bros. I will just re-watch the first Superman movie since it’s gonna be the same. Call me for the next re-boot in 10 years.
So a ruby red snake in the process of digesting a large meal is the new Superman logo. Oh K…
good Logo
I just don’t understand, why make the S in Superman shine if it’s all gritty and dark otherwise?
What’s to understand? It’s a logo, genius.
Out of all the cool Superman villains they bring boring General Zod back. Zod is barely not even in the cartoons because he’s a dull character. TEN YEAR OLD KIDS KNOW THIS, YET WHOMEVER WANTED ZOD BACK DOES NOT HAVE A CLUE. Seriously, there’s Dark Side, Doomsday and etc.
As for the logo, it looks awesome. The previous Superman was a wuss who didn’t even get ticked when Lois didn’t even bother to tell him he’s the father off the kid. Then he doesn’t even go get the kid. It was SissymanReturns.
I’m looking forward to a real masculine Superman who kicks hide and sleeps with Lois. Umm, sleeps, NOT fly through the air with the weakest foreplay.
I still say the Lois casting was off. What is it with superhero movies and female casting, anyway? Save for Portman in Thor, and maybe Emma Stone in Amazing Spiderman (still pissed she’s not Mary Jane…), these films tend to miss the mark with their female characters. Truth be told, I would have preferred Portman play Lois (and skip Thor). As it is, Terri Hatcher will go down as the best Lois Lane ever.
Adams is the ultimate Lana Lang. This makes the horrible choice of picking her for Lois even more irksome. Not only is she a truly terrible choice for the role they gave her, but there was also a perfect role in the mythos that they could have given her instead.
It burns me that Amy Adams was too vain about her 10 year age difference with Cavill, that she refused to dye her hair. That would have helped her look less like Lana and more like Lois, but Amy seems convinced darker hair ages her.
The problem with superman films is that everyone forgets how boring and one dimensional he is, characters have moved on and unless they do something really different, this will suck too.
After Bryan Singer’s ambivalence-fest Superman Returns, all we need is an action-heavy reboot a la Leterrier’s Incredible Hulk vs. the Ang Lee version. Zack is the man for that. Singer’s big mistake is that he was trying to hard to channel the Dick Donner original.
Disappointed that Luthor and Zod are in this, enough already. It’s just like the new Spider-Man movie, do we have to see the origin AGAIN? The Parasite, Metallo, Jack Kirby’s Fourth World stuff, that would be fresh!
Amy Adams as Lois? Bleh. In fact half the casting I’ve read about sucks. I’m just looking forward to Zack’s fight scenes (if there are some), and I do like Cavill.
