Sorry, Jack Donaghy, you’re just not my type. Because Don Draper ruined me for other men. Anyway, here’s the 30 Rock clip from tonight:
Editor-in-Chief Nikki Finke - tip her here.

Just watched it and headed straight here. Hilarious.
Omg nikkiiiii !!!!!!!!
The big Teddy bear Jack !!!!!!!
The show the “Red States” don’t get
There are no red states or blue states, only states in varying shades of purple. The delineations are between urban, suburban and rural, not east coast/west coast and flyover states, you demographic dimwit.
that was a little harsh, but SO TRUE. thank you. it’s like nobody looks at the number returns the day after a national election and notices how nearly evenly divided most of the states are.
The show that, if we’re being honest with ourselves, hasn’t been great TV since season 1.
W00T!!1!
Go Nikki!
Toldja is your most annoying habit!
HYSTERICAL
Thats so cool!
Congratulations on being part of the best punchline of the night.
I laughed so hard when Jack said that! Then I realized I was the only one in the room who got the joke. You’re the best Nikki
Exactly. This joke had the lowest % of people getting it of all time in Primetime TV (I looked it up).
Still, awesome!
A lot of viewers thought he was talking about a one night stand with a man named Nicky Fink. They now are under the impression that Jack Donaghy is gay.
its a compliment…you know you’re today’s louella and hedda wrapped in one.
Good for you, girl!
Somehow Baldwin as Jack not quite as funny now that he’s lost weight.
Was it in Moscow? Perhaps London?
I love it, but 99 per cent of the viewing audience doesn’t, so what’s the point of an inside, inside, inside, inside joke? Poor writing.
Arrested Development was worse in that regard. I recall one joke about taking Groundlings classes. With the rapid-fire humor style, though, you’re always going to make references that people don’t get. No big deal.
So what you’re saying is that for writing to be good every joke must be tailored so the entire audience can understand? However, I imagine you’ll be the first in line to complain about 2 Broke Girls.
Inside or out, 2 Broke Girls is NOT funny…..
How is that poor writing? That’s on you if you don’t get the reference.
What’s the point of a joke that only about 200 people would get? Pretty stupid writing, actually. Cool for Nikki, but really?
you wouldn’t understand.
Wow– hilarious. “You wouldn’t understand”… Cuz it’s a black thing right? Oh no sorry, that’s just you co-opting a lame punchline from 20 years ago and trying to apply it here in reference to inane inside Hollywood banter. I think tinafoy understands completely, you’re the one who doesn’t. When trying to expand your audience, it’s best not to use jokes that are so “exclusive” only a tiny fragment understands them. There — no do YOU understand sweden.
Wow…the biggest stretch of the year: you turned “you wouldn’t understand” into a race thing? WOW! Was that phrase uttered in some racial movie 20 years ago or something? A movie that only you saw? If not…what the hell are you talking about?!
It was ONE joke– a throwaway moment unless you caught & recognized the “toldja” reference and had to rewind it just to be sure. It’s not like the entire episode was made up them, which would have been bad writing. The rest of the humor in the episode was accessible enough for the rest of the audience, and the ONE joke that was for hollywood is probably one of the reasons the show gets all those Emmy noms. What’s the big deal?
another disgruntle, unemployed writer lurking.
How does he sound disgruntled?
You clearly live in a red state.
I felt very “in the know” for catching that reference last night!
You are now immortal, Nikki!
Are people really arguing about this? It’s a joke in a sitcom. Not everyone understands every joke ever told, you have to be aware of the subject, context and tone of the words.
That’s why they call it “getting it”.
Get it???
Wow. And NBC got all of the viewers of last night’s episode to comment on this site. Media convergence in action!
I love you Nikki but 30 Rock might have just jumped the shark.
Hilarious and awesome!
Seems like Syracuse is all the rage for fictional characters on network series (Schmidt and Nick on “New Girl” went there also).
Oh, and go ‘Cuse!
After the line about “4 credits away from a degree in Bro Studios”, I wouldn’t say my take away is that Syracuse is “all the rage”.
I just about fell out of my chair watching this last night. I felt like they wrote the joke just for me. Congrats Nikki! I love that you were one of Jack’s conquests. He goes for powerful women, so it’s definitely a compliment
Like Arrested Development, 30 Rock throws many jokes and inside references at the audience. If you enjoy them, great. If you don’t, it’s a throwaway line they don’t dwell on and you’re on to the next joke.
