BREAKING… Former Warner Bros and CBS Films executive Debbie Miller will join Twentieth Century Fox on April 23rd as EVP of marketing. The announcement was made today by Fox chief creative officer Tony Sella and chief marketing officer Oren Aviv, to whom Miller will report. Miller previously worked with Sella at Fox as a VP of national publicity. Additionally, Twentieth Century Fox has hired Kevin Yoder, who most recently worked as managing director for MarketCast, as EVP of research and strategy. He starts April 10th.
In a statement, Aviv commented Aviv: “Debbie brings an impressive mix of strategic marketing expertise across a wide array of platforms, and a distinctive, synergistic approach to everything she’s undertaken. Tony and I know we will all benefit from Debbie’s incredible filmmaker relationships and deep experience.”
Added Sella: “It’s great when you can welcome one of your family members back into the fold. Debbie is not only a perfect fit, but she gives us the experience and skills to expand upon our successes while we continue to evolve and think progressively.”
Miller previously was EVP of worldwide marketing for CBS Films. At Fox, she will oversee publicity, promotions, research, and digital marketing endeavors, while working with Aviv and Sella to develop overall marketing strategies. She joins Fox from CBS Films, where she created the studio’s marketing department when the company was established in 2008. (Terry Press is now the marketing consultant for CBS Films.) Miller joined CBS Films from Warner Bros, where she served as EVP of domestic theatrical marketing. There she spearheaded the campaigns for the “Harry Potter” series, as well as for Academy Award winners: “The Departed,” “Happy Feet” and “Million Dollar Baby.” Miller also led campaigns for a wide range of films. She joined Warner Bros as SVP of publicity in 2001.
Yoder joins Fox from MarketCast, a marketing research and strategy firm serving the entertainment industry, where he served as managing director. Yoder joined MarketCast from Nielsen NRG, where he worked from 1992 to 2008, serving as its COO.
“Kevin is one of the most respected and talented marketers and researchers in this industry,” said Sella and Aviv in a joint statement. “We are incredibly fortunate to have someone on our team with his breadth of knowledge and industry insights.”

Fox is beyond lucky to get Debbie–she is smart, dedicated, loyal, and uniquely understands the value of getting cross-functional teams working together. My bet is, Fox becomes a better place to work.
I don’t see how it could get any worse.
Congratulations Debbie! Good luck at Fox!
Congratulations to her! One of the better hires lately. Hopefully she can streamline some of the process and disorganization that exists there. Especially as it relates to the incredibly mismatched and dysfunctional executive team.
Debbie has the personality and the appreciation of detail to create organization out of chaos. The question is if research doesn’t report to her (and btw – Yoder is also a powerhouse of a hire) media won’t report to her and creative doesn’t report to her, how much can she impact marketing outside of publicity?
It’s funny… wasn’t Jeff Godsick the one that got rid of her the first time around?
Debbie definitely deserves this after being tortured at CBS, she will once again flourish and get her MOJO back! Great Hire for FOX!
You have got to be kidding!!!!
Debbie Miller is a terrible choice for this position. She will run everyone ragged and she cannot be trusted. I feel sorry for anyone working under her.
Fox is quite possibly one of the worst places to work at. Lot’s of fiefdoms, way too many president’s and high titles with limited qualifications – if any (outside of Fox). You can start as an intern and become president but you wouldn’t qualify as a manager anywhere else. That said, Debbie is a great hire. God-Sick was a joke. He’s been moved everywhere – except out. Must have pics of Tom and ???
Kevin is one of the smartest guys in the biz and Fox is lucky to have him. Seems like a lot of cooks though…
Oren and Tony may have lost all support and goodwill from their reports, but Debbie is no fix for the horrendous morale problems there. Adding a layer only serves as a buffer for short term, eventually you will have to actually lead and not treat people like shit. Oren may have hired his replacement, but Debbie’s personality will not fly with these wounded kids.
Debbie gives new meaning to micro-manager, somehow, adding the queen of minutiae doesn’t seem to be the answer when the problem is the big picture.
Rothman’s desperation is showing…if Aviv and Sella could do their jobs, you wouldn’t need more EVPs. And they ignore the talent they have inhouse who are desperate to leave.
I couldn’t agree more. Keeping bringing in new people doesn’t solve the problem. Fox has some great brains. What about Jonathan Helfgot?
EVP Research???? What does that mean for Jonathan Helfgot?
With Bear’s departure, it looks more like that’s who’s replacement Debbie is vs. Oren’s. Let’s see if their second choice lasts longer than the 2 months her predecessor did.
