Hollywood and Washington come together in director Davis Guggenheim‘s The Road We’ve Traveled, a 17-minute video for President Obama narrated by Tom Hanks. The president’s campaign committee teased the production last week, and posted it on YouTube last night. The theme: Facing a collapsing economy and overseas wars: “Not since the days of Franklin Roosevelt had so much fallen on the shoulders of one president.” Putting aside your views of the president, what do you think? Is this an effective work of political persuasion — or, as some Republicans say, a too-slick piece of propaganda that viewers will just dismiss?
Will This Tom Hanks And Davis Guggenheim Video Help President Obama?

“Obama urges bipartisan support — for his agenda”
Why does it have to be his agenda and not the agenda of we the people?
We the (majority of the) people elected him president, so that he could set an agenda. It’s called democracy.
We the the people also elected a Republican House of Representatives, so that they could set an agenda. It’s called democracy.
They did their job. They passed a budget. The Senate Democrats, however, haven’t passed a budget in over two years.
You’re wrong!!
It’s been 3 years…over 1000 days.
spot on lewis ..
Yes, because Republicans won’t work with this President and filibuster everything in the Senate, so it requires 60 votes to get anything done. When Democrats tack to the center, Republicans keep moving the goalpost further to the right.
The Democrats (I am a moderate, unafiliated) have gone so far to the left in the last 20 years that it is necessary to block them. They spend, they practise croniissm.
As for this video, I think actors should stay out of it. I will have a hard time watchimg Hanks again without thinking about his ultra liberal stance.
The Senate is run by the Democrats and they have not submitted a budget in over 1000 days. It matters not one iota that the Republicans could filibuster. Tell Senate Majority Leader Reid to submit a budget and then see what happens…everything else is just speculation then. They have abdicated their financial responsibility for this country and it is a farce! Real leader deal problems by first accepting responsibility and then taking action!
The Senate Republicans cannot filibuster – they do not have enough of a majority to stop anything in the senate.
And just fyi… filibustering means talking on the floor so no one else can speak. If the GOP were doing this, the video of that would be the entire evening new – and that just hasn’t happended.
During the first two years of BO’s administration the Dems had a filibuster proof Senate. Dingy Reid still did not do his job.
The utter cluelessness of “Obviously” above is a pluperfect example of the ‘Reasoning’ powers of the Dems. His Infantile Majesty had Dem majorities for fully his first 2-years in office. Other than attending an American record number of Fund Raisers at often HUGE prices(whilst blathering Class Warfare idiocy)and endless–from the git go–campaign stops..Oh, and more golfing in 3-years than any former president..Other than those “successes”, The Boy King has been a catastrophe. Useless except for diminishing American Liberty.
Under Senate rules the budget cannot be filibustered. The dems are wusses.
Filibuster??? Do you not remember that obama had a democratic House AND Senate for the first couple of years of his presidency? He could have passed anything he wanted to, including a budget, but didn’t want to. Instead, he voted “present” as he is inclined to.
GL Lee–It only takes 41 votes to mount a filibuster, which the Republicans certainly have now, which they had for the first six months of 2009 (because of deliberate Republican obstruction in certifying Al Franken–apparently 300 votes in a smaller statewide election is suspicious, but a 537 vote margin in a larger state, in a Presidential election, is ), and then again starting in January of 2010 (because Scott Brown won). To claim Democrats had a filibuster-proof majority for 2009-2010 is simply false. For 1.5 out of 2 years, they had 59 votes, including Joe Lieberman, a man who endorsed and campaigned for a conservative Republican for President. So really, they had 58 reliable votes (59 for that six-month window.)
Also, all that needs to be done now to filibuster is to announce one’s *intent* to filibuster–if McConnell has 41 votes he can vote down votes for “cloture.” Which he typically does. Neither party, for better or worse, carries out the actual filibustering.
Now, it’s true that there’s not much happening this session, but there was certainly a lot of it in 2009-2010. Mitch McConnell said flat outright that his main goal was to see that Obama was a one-term President. Obviously, any bill that helps the country–and by extension, Obama–was therefore going to be blocked.
Given that Pres. Obama received 69,456,897 votes in 2008–more than any candidate in history, more than Reagan in ’84 or Bush in ’04–I have no idea what the point of this latest “percentage of registered voters” talking point is. Obama won. By a lot. (And I will note, yet again, that Obama did indeed have a lot of specifics–there was a 52-page pdf called “Blueprint for Change” that was on his website–he just didn’t *campaign* on them, because he tried that at first, and our idiotic, too-cool-for-school media laughed at him for it. So he had to rebrand. But yes, “Blueprint for Change” was very, very specific.)
Remember it was a Democratic congress for Bush’s last 4 years!
right on Lewis….
I did see the useless “masterpiece” and found it to be repulsive. It was a Hollywood production and mostly a fantasy of the last three years.
This country will be much better when this clown is out of office and starts to learn another trade. Oh, I forgot, he is a community disorganizer.
You the (majority) of the people voted for the status quo. It’s called ‘stupidity.’
Right on
We are NOT a democracy. We are a represented republic. Get educated before you speak.
Correct, EllieEnlightened.
Correction: Constitutional Republic. Sorry to be picky but it’s relevant to not overlook the role the constitution plays in our political lives.
“The presidency is like a box of Chocolates, Ya never know what you’re gonna get.”
It’s sure not going to help Hanks. I’ve seen my last Tom Hanks movie.
These Hollywood mental lightweights are shooting themselves in the foot with their antics as ‘politican sages’. They are a joke.
Actors trade on the likeable char actors that they portray. So whom are we to believe? Capt. Miller, Forest Gump or maybe the boy/man in Big. Actors act and what they say can be considered doubtful. They have their own agenda.
To the one who posted: “We the (majority of the) people elected him president, so that he could set an agenda. It’s called democracy.”
Something to think about: He’s put in place so many czars (too many to list in this setting) to make decisions and to put in place regulations upon people, a method of setting regulations through a backdoor method and completely bypassing congress, the constitutional way. That my friend is NOT democracy. I’m only calling it what it is. Not trying to be hostile.
that would make it a Republic….
Moron we do not have a democracy it is a Representative Republic.
Well, he was very clear on the campaign trail what he wanted to do. That was his agenda.
I voted for him, as did a majority of Americans… so, his agenda is the agenda of the majority of Americans.
Different people might have different agendas they want represented. Awesome! That’s life and politics! Go to it!
A “majority” did NOT elect him. 64 million votes is not a majority of 312 million. It’s between 20 and 23 percent. Get your facts straight.
And he was elected to “administer the United States Government” in accordance with the laws passed by the people’s elected representatives.
This is another attempt to put lipstick on a pig. It’s a pig!
I think that everyone should boycott all Tom Hanks films
I’m with you Brad. These actors and actresses should stay out of politics, but on the other side you really get to take a look at how LEFTIST they are.
Maybe it wouldn’t be a majority if 312 million Americans actually voted, but because most of us are too lazy, too stupid or just don’t care enough, only about 20 to 30% of the population actually go to the polls.
I wonder what would happen if they tried to make voting mandatory like it is in some countries. Would that be considered invading your civil rights?
Moron!!
By that rationale, one can assume that you have read the thousand or so pages of Obamacare… one of the most terrible pieces of legislation ever constructed…
I am reasonable sure that “the majority of Americans” would have voted this piece of garbage down had they been given the opportunity… and let’s of course, not forget the “bribes” er- promises made to certain elected officials to gather enough support to pass it… real democracy in action… pathetic!
First of all he and the media were deceitful about his agenda. Secondly you are a liar – a majority of American most certainly did not elect this clown. He didn’t even get a majority of registered voters – he received roughly 41% of registered voters.
He wont, to be sure – but it was hardly a mandate or a majority – he just received the most votes and every single poll would seem to indicate you are dead wrong about his doing the will of the people.
Actually a majority of “voting” Americans.
Actually, it wasn’t a majority of the American people, it was a majority of the people who veoted.
Too bad he lied about most of his “agenda”. He told the sheeple EXACTLY what they wanted to hear in order to get elected. The feeble-minded ones fell all over themselves to elect him king.
Beg to differ about Obama being “clear” on the campaign trail. He merely told different constituencies what they wanted to hear. In fact, one of his major claims was that he would never back a plan like HillaryCare, and then he went ahead and wasted a year being a pitchman for ObamaCare, which the CBO now estimates will add $1.8 trillion to the national debt.
The only “clear” fact about Obama is that he was not and still is not presidential caliber. The guy was marketed well by Plouffe and Axelrod to dull-witted consumers who were only interested in a product that dressed well, smiled well, and could read a teleprompter well.
And by the way….
No. The CBO does *not* now estimates will add $1.8 trillion to the national debt.
That’s how the Right Wing Blogs and Press are spinning the report.
But if you read the actual report, you’ll see that the CBO revised estimate is that the cost will be $50 billion less than originally estimated.
But, again, that’s going to the facts. How much any person wants to engage with them is a personal preference.
Yea they didn’t think Hope and Change meant SOCIALISM.
FOOL!!
What the video doesn’t say is that the Democrates owned BOTH houses of Congress for the first two years of Obama’s presidency. He could pass anything he wanted without being blocked by the Republicans and what he passed in his first two years has gotten the U.S. on the brink of bankruptcy. Real un-employment is closer to 12-18%. Forclosures have never been higher, more people are on food stamps then ever before, food at record prices thanks to his policies. This is all on him and the Democratss
Hopefully, the GOP has the cojones to ask this of every voter between now and the November election, “Are you as good or better off now than in 2008?”
The irony of your comment, ChristopherMaker, is that candidate Obama was not very clear–remember all that Hope and Change stuff. He filled the airwaves with vague platitudes about unity, and America, looking for an improvement in the political discourse of the country, bought it. So many friends, on both sides of political spectrum ate it up, all seeming to think he aligned with their political persuasion. He’s the ultimate politician, saying everything to everyone, but in reality, nothing of substance.
Unfortunately, he’s done nothing to change the toxic political atmosphere. Instead of uniting, he’s promoted further division, chastising Republicans for not agreeing with him and ridiculing their values. When he does compromise, he prefers to take all the credit and criticize the other side for not giving enough. But I guess we should have seen that coming from a man with an extremely partisan voting record in the Senate.
It’s a shame really, he had the potential to be a great president. Instead, he’ll leave a legacy of partisan bickering and unfulfilled promises.
It’s “his” agenda because he is the one pushing it, that’s the way the English language works. Of course it is an agenda to help the people. What do you think it’s for? Is it all about what he gets to eat and what movies he gets to see and when he gets to fly in that neat Marine helicopter?
“Of course it is an agenda to help the people”???? You REALLY believe that? If so, put down your crack pipe and come back to reality. He’s not the least bit interested in helping anyone in America other than the unions, rich “friends”, and helping his wife waste billions of dollars on an excessive number of vacations.
We elected Obama to destroy everything that made this country great? I don’t think so.
Sweeping generalizations and misinformation used as talking points get to be pretty tedious over time. It accomplishes nothing. Especially here.
Only 1000,000 hits?!
Not very viral is it?
Bet there are a half dozen cat dancing vids with more hits than this got today.
i hope not
You are so right and as for me…I will never support anything this hollywood crowd does again. Tom Hanks, Stephen spielburg and Clooney and his clan….Ugh! Holding my nose
There is a reason why Hollywood is almost entirely Liberals/Socialists/Communists/democrats ( they are all the same), the Hollywood types spend all their time producing/promoting make believe , and the democrats spend most of their time doing the same.
I for one am boycotting any Hollywood talking head that supports Obama and the ruination of this country..
Neither will I – I have enough of Hollywood running the White Houjse. There is not enough moneyh in Hanks or Clooney’s bank accont to ever see another movie they make
Obama does have a 100% track record and it will show in his little movie. He’s been wrong every time, and he movie will also show the American people that he’s been a liar as well. By the way, I wonder if we see any family vacation pictures. Maybe Michelle put something nice together for us.
Not only will it not help Obama, it won’t help Hanks either. They have chosen a radical ideological viewpoint of America and believe, in my opinion, that they know best for the rest. I won’t be voting for Obama and I won’t be spending any money on Hank’s movies.
I used to like Tom hanks as and actor, but to see him backing a man like Obama,Who has done more to try and destroy this country. After all the men and women that have died fighting to defend our way of life, for over 200 years,I have to quote from one of his movies STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES.
Throughout it’s history, Hollywood and the majority of it’s actors and actresses have had a public liberal bias. Their public popularity has been used, just like the Hank’s “docudrama”, by Democrat politicians to get there agenda to the mainstream. Hollywood should stick to it’s profession of acting in a fantasy world and stay out of the real world of politics.
Whether you voted for him or not, he is our leader. He takes responsibility for success, or failure, of his policies. Hence the responsibility taken for the agenda of the executive branch.
“Not since Roosevelt has so much fallen on the shoulders of one man”are you kidding me? What about 911 when our country was attacked and 3,000 innocents were killed? A lot of Obama’s problems have been caused by him. We elected a man with a golden tongue and no qualifications at all to hold the biggest job in the world. Obama was created by the media and supported by Hollywood. I feel like this is a really bad movie that doesn’t end. We are seeing what happens when the public, the liberal media and hollywood elect someone who had no idea how to run anything, just came into office with his dream of transforming this country into something it is not. He has made a lot of people suffer along with those feckless supporters and they will see just how angry the nation is in November.
Fail
I get d-chills at that so-called documentary. I now will have a lifelong ban on all Tom Hanks productions that he produces or stars in. Which of course isn’t hard to do with his acting. He plays the same character over and over he’s like a white Morgan Freeman.
LMAO…but please, let us not “dwell in blame”…LOL
Right now we are so polarized as a nation I doubt this video will make much difference one way or the other. I doubt it will change any minds.
We’re NOT polarized as a nation. Most Americas support rich people paying more taxes. They support insurance companies paying for contraception. They support protecting an approach to energy that protects the environment. They support putting jobs above long term deficit reduction. The Tea Party doesn’t and they control the Republican. Americans agree on the broad issues, the Republicans just will never compromise and (based on their debt limit antics) are willing to crash the economy to get their way.
You’re funny.
boy, you sure are a master at sarcaism.. I almost believe that you believe what you wrote!
well done!!
you’re correct. and sadly we are a nation of haters, ie. those that hate bush with such a passion it approaches danger, and, there are those that hate obama with such a passion it also approches danger. these two groups will NEVER see eye to eye. obama wanted to be a uniter and yet he has become the most divisive president in our history. we have become a nation of hate and haters.
I beg to differ. Obama SAID that he wanted to be a uniter, but that was just campaign rhetoric. During the past 3 years, he and the actions of his administration have done much to further divide the people in this country.
Last time around Obama was promoted as if he were a rock star. So this time around it will be business as usual, where the Obama campaign will come out with these slick campaign propaganda films, pushing the old “Hope and Change” mantra all over again. Guess what – hope is gone and we don’t like the change.
And if they think we care that Tom Hanks narrated it and is a big fan of Obama – they are wrong.
You see, this is where the difference lies… Liberals hate Bush the man. Concervatives hate Obama’s policies.
Piers Morgan: Davis, can you think of a single negative thing about President Obama?
Davis Guggenheim: Un, actually, no, I can’t.
Morgan: Come on–not a single thing?
Guggenheim: No. Nothing.
This is why we may not have 4 years of a Romney presidency, but we won’t get 4 years of a presidency that will fix what ails this country. Guggenheim and Hanks are just signing us up for 4 more years of status quo.
Guggenheim was afraid if he said anything negative, the liberals would label him a racist.
AMAZING! Goes to show you how the Obama campaign is ten times smarter than any of their Republican counterparts. Great video, hits all the right notes and reminds us that we’d all be F’ED w/o him. It’s rear view mirror time right wingers.
You are a complete incompetent idiot.
we’d all be F’ED w/o him???? have you looked around lately? we are pretty well F’ED with him.
Concur
I can’t believe it’s not butter What a lame brain. Your name should be I can’t believe obama. Romney will kick some azz in Nov.
You wantt o bet? Romney wii just get richer and richer and richer.
WOW! Keep drinking that kool-aid!!!!
You would be surprised at how brilliant any of the Republican candidates would look if they had the MSM singing their praises 24/7 like this “president”.
Guggenheim and Hanks are simply campaigning. The problem with Hollywood elites is they have no idea how the dwindling middle class (thanks Obama) actually lives. They have no appreciation for the strength of faith and high ethics of traditional families is what made America great. The wonderful progressives with their existential life views and welfare programs and affirmative action that take away any pride or self-satisfaction minorities may have.
Obama’s four greatest accomplishments are to:
1) Divide the country as never before, between race and social class.
2) Saddle our grandchildren and beyond with the greatest debt the country has ever known.
3) Use taxpayer money through bailouts to pay off political cronies as never before through the liquidation and/or restructuring of GM, Solyndra, etc.
4) Cast blame on everyone but himself.
Yes I would say Guggenheim is correct. There is nothing wrong with Obama . . . if you are a Marxist.
Very well said.
Wow, just reading these comments reminds just how low we have sunk under this pile of excrement. No amount of Hollyweird make believe will save this sinking ship. Real Americans not afflicted with the mental disease of liberalism will show obama and moochie the door and end the grand experiment forever. November can’t come soon enough for the nation as it swings back to the right and elects a GOP majority.
As a Canadian I have always wondered why there are no more than two real choices for voters in American politics. Choice is a big part of Democracy and representative though the American system is there seems to be a duality that is never absent from that potential choice.
It is unfortunate that during a time of such crises in the USA, that there isn’t more support for a president that seems to be doing as adequate a job as he can to keep the ship together.
Situations beyond his control have arisen both inside and outside the USA and the country seems to be on the right road to recovery.
Fundamentalism in any political or religious context is an untenable alternative to the extreme. Why can the detractors of the President not back off and let the man pursue some of these much needed additions to the American social fabric that would help millions of Americans, particularly the so called middle class get back on it’s feet and be once again a productive force.
Hey, Tom Hanks isn’t such a bad dude. He’s just a man supporting another man who’s trying to do the best for his country. Let him get the job done without all the negativism!
This video is designed by Obama’s Hollywood buddies to deliever him as the most challenged leader of recent history. Yet for those Americans who are a bit more objective it will just be another excuse with better lighting, staging and great photography.
It seems to me the only thing Obama can do with the help of Hollywood is remind us how bad things were and what he inherited. But in reality it’s three years later, and despite what Obama says unemployment is still at 9% or higher. The fact is that there are 2 million less people working since Obama took office. The 8.3% number Obama continues to use dismisses those individuals who are no longer looking for employment because there are no jobs. It’s a bogus number which is manipulated to maintain the 8.3%. But it is a disingenuous number. Gas prices are double than what they were during Bush. That’s a reality in living color that Hollywood can’t cover up despite Hanks.
This might be the dumbest post yet.
Keep believing this. Why nations around the globe are seeking bail outs because they have spent and taxed themselves into oblivion liberals here in America don’t learn the lesson and believe tax and spend creates wealth.
Scary how there are still some people who blindly follow this Empty Suit and cannot think for themselves.
Hahaha, zombie.
Fail
Great video hits the right notes amazing how easily people are marketed to in the US, I bet you liked that last Whopper commercial and ran right out and bought one.
what truly embarrassing fanboyism.
yech.
We’re “F’ED” BECAUSE of him. What has he done to fix anything that has worked? What’s gotten better for anyone? He continued or expanded nearly all of Bush’s failures. His foreign policy is embarrassing and words cannot describe his energy policy, or lack thereof. The man is either the greatest buffoon to ever hold the office or he plans the destruction of the country. Either way, the result is the same.
It actually works to the opposite effect. Whatever sincerity caused Hanks to put this sticky love letter together– it comes across with the worst kind of self-framing pomposity that is almost embarrassing to sit through. It isn’t that the viewers will dismiss it– I think that they will wonder what non-effective version of this storybook video we have been living with for the past 3+ years. Between the pitiful excuses and the non-action plan that has been guiding Obama from day 1, it just illustrates the insane rift between what Tom Hanks wishes (or rather believes with all of his kissy-face heart) were true and what an insane and horrible time it has been for the rest of us peons watching a master of excuses ignore his responsibilities as a leader. Perhaps these two should just go get a room and (continue to) leave the rest of us alone with our problems. Sadly, that is what we are now used to.
17 minutes of drivel. Better idea: Closeup of Wilson for 17 minutes. Same type of President, same teary-eyed results.
What a bunch of horrible dishonest people.
I could put a positive spin on literally anybody. This vid really doesn’t do anything to win over people who may still be on the fence.
Let’s face it.. Obama is a wonderful man, but his Presidency has been luke warm at best.
However, because he’s practical and a child of the modern era.. (unlike the GOP candidates) I will vote for him.
And so should you.
Ask the people who were his Senate opponents in 2004 (both D and R)and had Obama leak their sealed divorce records to the press whether hes a wonderful person.
Or you could ask me – somebody who worked for the Party and the previous Democratic President and who watched Obama’s campaign work hand in hand with the Clinton hating MSM to spread false and destructive lies about Hillary and President Clinton whether I think he’s a “wonderful person”.
Remember the b***hit charges that they were playing racial politics – when in truth it was Team Obama that race baited from day one till the end? Totally unforgivable.
R
I don’t. I think he’s the most self obsessed and self serving politician I’ve ever been around and I’ve been aroun them all.
Strangely enough, among the many other people calling for the release of Jack Ryan’s divorce records were his GOP opponents in the primary. That’s kind of rich–your other guys call for the release of your guy’s divorce records, and then you blame it on Obama.
Both Ryan and his wife agreed to make the divorce records public.
Blame the judge if you want, blame the Chicago Sun-Times and ABC for trying to get access, but it’s not like the media doesn’t also go after Democratic politicians (c.f. John Edwards, Anthony Weiner)
Oh yeah–and HIlary Clinton got over 2008 primary–she endorsed Obama and is now working for him as Secretary of State. Why haven’t you?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Ryan_(politician)
“On March 3, 2004, several of Ryan’s GOP primary opponents urged release of the records.[5] Both Ryan and his wife agreed to make their divorce records public, but not make the custody records public, claiming that the custody records could be harmful to their son if released. On March 16, 2004, Ryan won the GOP primary with 36 percent to 23 percent against Jim Oberweis who came in second.[6] Obama won the Democratic primary, with 53 percent to 23 percent against Dan Hynes, who came in second.
On March 29, 2004, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Robert Schnider ruled that several of the Ryans’ divorce records should be opened to the public, and ruled that a court-appointed referee would later decide which custody files should remain sealed to protect the interests of Ryan’s young child.[7] The following week, on April 2, 2004, Barack Obama formally established his position about the Ryans’ soon-to-be-released divorce records, and called on Democrats not to inject them into the campaign. The Ryan campaign characterized Obama’s stance as hypocritical, because Obama’s alleged backers had been emailing reports about the divorce records prior to Judge Schnider’s decision
say what you will, that’s an impressive piece of filmmaking
Sophomoric statement. No doubt you believe “Avatar” is one of he best movies ever made.
Laughable.
I voted for this idiot… never again! Impeach him and bring in someone who knows what they are doing and that isn’t going to keep blaming everyone else for his mistakes! I hate to say it, but I am gonna have to vote republican come this election. Lord knows I will never vote for him again!!
You want me to believe you voted for Obama and now your not happy with him.. Because Why? What did he campaign on that he flip flopped once he got in office… He has lowered your taxes, he has had not terrorist attack on his watch (unlike bush).. .He has been successful in killing the terrorists including Bin Ladin… Gays can now serve in our armed forces.. He appointed Hillary Clinton to one of the most important jobs in the country after a bitter battle… He has had no scandals …His wife and children are popular in our country and around the world.. So tell me what he has done since he got into office that he didn’t warn you about while campaigning three years ago
Yeah you are right because Mitt Romney or Rick Santorum will change the world. Funny how the republicans can even agree on who they want for their candidate, and we should give them ta turn to run the nation? Nope
Are any of the candidates giving you an impression that they know what they are doing? This is the worst crew of GOP candidates I have ever seen, wait, I completely forgot who the GOP put up last time. So let make it the second worst candidates ever.
Its easy.
Mitt in 2012 to get rid of Obama.
Hillary in 2016 to get rid of Mitt.
yeah – this is exactly what i’m thinking.
what i got from this video is vote ron paul 2012!!
Amen!
I’m pretty sure everyone with a brain can call out State propaganda when they see it.
Why does Hollywwod not recognize Obama has failed Miserably Economically,Internationally
and his only accomplishment is a health plan that will send the US into scary scary Longer term financial straits..It is sad that Cloiney,Katzenberg and Hanks are so wrapped up in their self aggrandizement and Liberal thought without substance
It will probably hurt Hanks instead!
I for one will never look at his films the same way. Now when I see a Tom Hanks movie all I’ll be able to think about is “useful idiots”…
I agree.
I used to like Hank´s performances but they have been lately lame. His political activism is disgusting so today I start my personal boycott. No more Tom Hank´s movies for me!
How can anyone even trust Obama anymore? Not saying the Republicans are much better but if a President fails you don’t re-elect him.
Pathetic.
The only thing this does is hurt Tom Hanks, as he loses more fans and future box office numbers.
I agree. I no longer have an interest in movies with Sean Penn, George Clooney, Matt Damen, Susan Sarandon, Barbra Streisand and others in Hollywood who feel the need to tell me I drive the wrong car, drive too much, think the wrong things, spend the wrong way and don’t give enough away to their pet charities and causes – never thought Ben Affleck could act anyway. Tom Hanks is now on the list. Up to now his support for veterans kept him off but this syrupy display is…. yyeeeuuuk.
exactly. Hanks is a great actor, but after this tripe I will think twice before paying to see one of his films. I guess he can join the ranks of Clooney, Penn and Glover fawning over this blundering idiot of a POTUS. George Bush was definitely not a good prez, but compared to Obama he looks like George Washington
It’s the Holy Roller conservatives against the liberals there is no more common ground, the tea party doesn’t know the meaning of COMPROMISE.
Liberals don’t know the meaning of comrpomise. When barry the empty suited charlatan walks into his first meeting with Republicans, ostensibly to ‘work together’ and says ‘I won, get over it, give me what I want’ you’ve already lost.
I do wonder though – does making ridiculous statements like this, utterly devoid of reality, really make you feel better about yourself or do you really believe the ignorant garbage you spew?
And liberals such as yourself only seem to understand invectives when argument fails. ‘Holy Rollers’ – are you implying that conservatives are all religious zealots? Completely indefensible position.
The tea party movement is premised on the strict interpretation of law as written in the U.S. Constitution – particularly as it relates to taxation and federal reach into state and local legal territory. The Commerce Act defines this and is currently being argued at the U.S. Supreme Court level
So vote Libertarian.
good
Wow, that’s one of the worst propaganda films I’ve ever seen.
Also nice to see that the pres’s staff is filtering the comments so it appears he has 100% support for that video.
Gross. He’s a corporatist, just like Bush before him. And he’s simply given more power and control to those corporations. People just loooooove to eat up this type of propaganda, huh? Ugh….
Back fire, too slick. “Not since the days of Franklin Roosevelt had so much fallen on the shoulders of one president.”
He needs to stop blaming Bush (that is exactly what that phrase says) and take ownership, show leadership, get results. And people should keep in mind Clinton, H.W. Busch, Reagan…achieved goals with the other side. It can be done.
This reminds me of Carter’s second term campaign already.
I bought his Hope and Change speech before (his best talent is giving speeches)… not falling for that again.
Unbelievable you can’t except how bad of a job Bush did in his 8 years… He spent money on his tax cuts, 2 wars and a medicare drug plan and didn’t pay for it…He put it on a credit card.. A few weeks before Bush was leaving Washington some of the biggest banks colapse on his watch… This after Bin Ladin took down two buildings which Bush used to scare the HELL out this country and made them think we needed to go into these wars … Anyways, Bush handed Obama the keys when the country was dying of cancer and in three years he hasn’t done to bad .. Remember he has been dealing with this right wing congress that says COMPROMISE is a dirty word… Just wait until next year when he wins again and just marches ahead with his agenda not compromising at all with the Republicans… Go Obama
Kp, you are an example of everything wrong with politics. I am no fan of Bush. But, the first 6 years of his presidency were not too shabby. And, those wars you go on about, were all approved by Congress. Even the Democrats. Scare us into war? Perhaps. But, eery intelligence agency of every western country all said/believed the same things. You might want to look up Hillary’s and Al Gore’s comments about Saddam way back when. Stop trying to rewrite history. Both parties got us into that. Things weren’t too bad under Bush, till the economy tanked. And, THAT happened because of shenanigans by Wall Street that was only possible because restrictions had been lifted. This was done by BOTH parties. You might want to look into Barney Frank/Fannie Mae.
Like I said, I’m no fan of Bush. But this Obama d1ck sucking is almost as ridiculous as the moronic Bush bashing. Bush was not Stan. Obama isn’t Jesus. Republicans are not baby eating rich men that want to destroy America. Democrats aren’t Marxist loons who want to destroy America.
Honestly. Both sides want what they actually think is best. That’s it. That’s all. We can all disagree. But, this each side coloring the other side as the Evil Enemy of All Mankind Bullshit just has to stop.
From the day that Al Franken was seated in the Senate to the day that Scott Walker was seated in the Senate, the Democrats had total control of the government, and the Republicans had ZERO power to stop anything that the Democrats or Obama wanted to do. So the right wing Congress has nothing to do with his failure of the policies that were passed when they could do nothing to stop him.
Walker is a Republican Governor (Wisconsin) but otherwise spot on!
Hanks politics have already hurt him at the box office and this will just do more harm.
He’s got my vote. But then again, he always did.
I like the vid. Will it change minds? I think a majority of people have their mind(s) made up already. Those independents still on the fence will continue to be more and more turned off by Romtorum’s batch*t crazy stances. The more they push the (can’t get any farther) right social conservative stuff, the more people go running for 44.
How much is the Obama campaign paying you?
ya know – I won’t vote for Obama again but I might sit the president vote out and just do down ticket. You’re right. Sorry Wes. The Obama campaign isn’t paying me that’s for sure! But I’m neither thrilled with either Santorum/Romney so I’ll leave it up to the others to play rockem’ sockem robots and watch the dust settle. If you guys get to the convention and decide to have someone totally new? I’ll be waiting.
The HEGELIAN DIALECTIC… create opposing forces, a left and a right. Let the people fight and argue amongst themselves, whilst all the time the same fixed agenda is being advanced.
With his destruction of the US constitution, free speech and protest, arrest and detainment without charge and without council, not to mention outright assassination of anyone he suspects of being an “enemy of the state”. Our so-called President or rather controlled political actor, will continue to fool the masses because they have no idea at all of whats really going on.
All the debates, primaries, TV talk… are all mere theatre, distraction. In the time it takes to watch an episode of your favorite prime-time TV show, you could find out the truth behind 9/11, JFK, the Federal Reseve, the endless wars and suffering, etc, etc. Instead of being interested in who’s going to win American Idol or what Lady GaGa is wearing or not wearing, you could do you own research and get involved. Wake-up to what Obama and all the other political actors are selling us as truth.
HOLLYWOOD actors like Tom Hanks are so easily misled and used!
It is the bane of the American people that they believe what they are told by people they trust. Well, those people have an agenda too. So, the real question we are being presented with is this: Who would you like to control you, the Government, or Wall St? For me, the answer is neither. However, those at the top-on both sides-have come to value control more than liberty. That is their agenda. I safely conclude there is WAY to much money in politics.
I like our President, but this film really is just so much propaganda for the Dems. He strikes me as a good man, but WE ALL KNOW Pac money is wrecking our process, and clear & obvious manipulation and greed are the culprits dividing our country.
Psst… Wall St. and the Banks own and run the Gov’t. and both Parties. That’s why THEY got the bailouts. Just sayin’…
