EXCLUSIVE: The Chronicles Of Narnia star William Moseley has landed one of the most buzzed-about pilot roles this season: He will play Aspen in the CW’s drama pilot The Selection. Based on the upcoming series of books by Kiera Cass, The Selection is described as an epic romance set 300 years in the future. Written by Elizabeth Craft & Sarah Fain and directed by Mark Piznarski, it centers on America Singer (Aimee Teegarden), a poor young woman who is chosen by lottery to participate in a competition to marry Prince Maxon (Ethan Peck) and become the next queen of a war-torn nation at a crossroads. Moseley, repped by Intellectual Artists Management, Paradigm and attorney Lev Ginsburg, will play the other male lead, Aspen Leger, a handsome and brave young man with a regal bearing under his ragged clothes who belongs to the servant class and has to support his entire family. He is having a secret, illegal relationship with America since it’s not allowed to date anyone out of one’s caste. Despite his love for her, when he learns she has a shot at bettering her and her family’s lives by competing in The Selection, he takes himself out of the picture by enlisting in the royal army. Also cast in the Warner Bros TV-produced pilot, which has been compared to The Hunger Games, is Andrew Elvis Miller in the guest-starring role of Gavril, a Ryan Seacrest-type TV personality who hosts The Selection, which is broadcast nationally.

aahhh! William moseley is back?? YES!
Loved him in the Narnia movies! Congrats!!!
Wow a love triangle now….He even sounds like Gale too…The CW continues to be the place where originality goes to die a horrible, painful death.
A love triangle is a staple in just about every Hollywood story. It’s nothing new. This pilot is an ADAPTATION and there are less similarities to The Hunger Games than there were with The Vampire Diaries to Twilight and look how different that show turned out
Actually it’s only the basis of chick-flick, rom-com, grrl power nonsense. Most of it bombs, but since there’s so much of it it’s understandable that you’d be confused.
The idea of women competing for a man’s hand at least is a break from the Twi-tard formula. But of course they HAD to have the love triangle forced into it.
The two-guys-for-every-girl female wish-fulfilment…yeesh!
im not trying to start anything but is there any American actors getting cast in any of theses American shows? everyday i read this website about shows being cast and all the Actors getting jobs are British or Austrailian,is it a payscale thing? are they cheaper and are these shows being filmed overseas? once again i am not trying to stir the pot as they say,im just curious
Wow, people comparing the series already… very original huh?
Moseley is an amazing actor and a BOSS.
So, we have Team Maxerica vs Team Asperica?
Ugh, needs work. Team Amaxon vs Team Amaspen?
Too late to change the characters’ names?
No way this gets picked up. The cost is outrageous, and the 2 male leads cast are highly questionable. You’ve read it here first. NO PICK UP!
Wow, bitter much?
I frequently hear how young foreign actors, especially British, Canadian and Australian are so well trained, reliable and down to earth.
From that you can pretty much tell what they think of American actors.
Boy, they have such good actors for this Pilot! All of them already have such an established fan base! I say this will definitely get picked up! I certainly hope so, I can’t wait!
Are you kidding? This is terrible casting! Regardless of wether he is a good actor or not Aspen is meant to be a rough around the edges servant and then later a tough soldier, can anyone honestly see this kid as either? I mean he’s too pretty to be in a tween boy band. I can see Peck as the prince, but i also thought the girl cast as America was a poor choice. The Casting directors have really done a LAME job on this one.
You managed to get a copy of that unreleased book? How was it?
I’ve been following this pilot since it was first announced and, I must say that with every actor they cast, it just keeps getting better and better!
For those of you who think William isn’t the right choice Ha! And how many movies, Broadway Plays, have you done?? None, right and you have the nerve to judge William. I know his grandfather well, he lives in the U. S., I have met William, his sister, there is more grace, manner’s and talent and most of all intelligence with William and his family. Will always be willing to pay, watch, anything he is in!!!!
So cool, william’s going to be in this! Anyone know when it starts? Will’s my absolute favorite
They are ‘American’ shows done by Canadian Crews!! We are fierce competition for the Americans in all aspects of film-making!! If you watch enough you see actors from all over the world.
OMG! I’m with you guys! Sooo happy to see William Moseley back in a TV series! This is gonna be amazing! CW for the win!
This guy is such an authentic actor, not cheesy like most cw actors. Good call. So excited to see this now. This is a step up for the cw.
i love Ethan Peck…!!!
Will,I do love you…!!!!!Look forward to your new TV show!
