EXCLUSIVE: Mike Myers has just left CAA and moved to WME. No big drama, I’m told. He simply followed his agent, Dan Aloni, who moved from CAA to become a WME partner. WME’s quick move to bring Aloni into the fold has changed the complexion of WME’s lit roster. He brought in Chris Nolan, Tom Shadyac, Michel Gondry, Raja Gosnell, Mandeville Films, Jonathan Mostow, Dean Parisot, Neal Moritz, Andy Fleming and David and Ian Purchase. Others in play include David Dobkin, Jim Carrey, Charles Roven and Jay Roach.
Myers has several projects percolating, including another Austin Powers film. While The Love Guru didn’t work for Myers, when you have a guy who can create characters the way that Myers has in franchises like Austin Powers and Wayne’s World, that’s a business you want to be in.

SHOCKER! Chris Nolan’s Agent Dan Aloni Fired From CAA

Why?
Way to strike while the iron is hot, WME!
Dan wasn’t his agent at CAA. I know for a fact that CAA dropped Myers. They closed his deal on Austin Powers and said good riddance.
He’s one of the comedic geniuses of our time. Look forward to seeing him come back.
Waynes world
Austin Powers
Shrek
Do you know another comedian who has produced multiple franchises!
As opposed to Sandler, Myers is actually funny.
“Do you know another comedian who has produced multiple franchises!”
Ben Stiller and Eddie Murphy?
And nobody in town has forgotten the Sprockets debacle.
Love Guru should have been aborted at the script stage. Mike needs to do another Austin Powers movie as soon as possible it’s all he’s bankable in he should have done the 4th AP movie insted of Love Guru whoever advised him if it was Aloni he failed to tell Mike the truth. Yes the guy is a creative genius but not all his ideas are worth making. He had the self awareness to pull the plug on Sprockets himself which infuriated Universal they sued him and he should have known that Love Guru was a disaster in the making.
He has created some of the most identifiable characters (and accents) in cinema today. I’m excited for his next projects.
That’s a great picture of Mike and his hair.
“While The Love Guru didn’t work for Myers, when you have a guy who can create characters the way that Myers has in franchises like Austin Powers and Wayne’s World, that’s a business you want to be in.” – yeah, 10 years ago!!
CAA has been trying to find a way to drop Mike forever! He’s a nightmare to deal with and Congrats to WME for picking up CAA’s discards.
And fact check – Aloni wasn’t his agent at CAA.
Myers, like Jerry Lewis, had his time in the sun and the world has moved on to other types of humor.
This is like getting a dirty diaper for a christmas present! MM’s career is OVER!! No longer funny/relevent, difficult and/or MEAN, into strange sexual shit (that they always have to cover up), expensive freaky, nasty Canadian retiree– is the gist of this travelling mistake. Congrats WME– might be time to consider a re-gift!! Yucko!!
he’s got a pretty amazing track record, can’t wait to see what’s up next.
His scene in “Inglorious Basterds” shows that he should take a break from self-generated franchises and try some supporting roles. He’s not without talent, he just goes to the same well too often.
Sandler plays Sandler in every film he does. It’s not fair to compare the two. Myers can and will create a believable character given the chance.
Maybe this move will finally see him in more films!
That’s challenging because no director, studio or producer wants to work with him. They had to tolerate him when he was a $20 million man… but now that they the power shift has well, shifted, everyone has walked away. His fault. A very unpleasant guy to work with.
Can I ask why no one is commenting on how big of a legenday a-hole this guy is?! He is TOXIC and hated by everyone he has ever worked with. That Oscar.com thing he did was the work of a hack. Poor William Morris.
I’d like for this Austin Powers film to be the last one and bring about a proper conclusion to the franchise as the third one was awful despite the star power on it.
Goldmember is one of the best comedies of all time, what are you talking about?!
Conversation circa 1996 “Mike Myers is over. Following up the Wayne’s World cash machine with crap like Ax Murderer showed ruined whatever cred he had, especially since he is such an asshole and everyone that works with him prays to be fired.”
Conversation circa 2012 ” Mike Myers is over. Following up AP and Shrek with Love Guru ruined his cred, especially since he is such an asshole and everyone that works with him prays to be fired.”
The difference btwn Mike and every other comic mentioned ( Murphy, Stiller, Sandler, etc..) – HE CREATES IT AND WRITES IT. Yes, he has worked with great creative partners. His partners however, were promoted writing assistants and already fluent in the language of the character. That is very different then the comedians who use the term partner, when ghostwriter would be more appropriate.
Mike is a perfectionist and he has little patience for people that waste time or bullish*t him. He doesn’t do press or counter-attack when people go after him publicly in arenas like VF. He lives his life, is a good friend to his friends, has never twittered self indulgent life musings…and made a lot of people, a lot of money. People that should be grateful, rather then spiteful b/c he chose not to pursue ventures that would have made them much more money.
I feel fairly certain that the character he has been crafting on this most recent self imposed exile will be well worth the wait.
