Susanna Fogel and Joni Lefkowitz, creators of the HBO comedy pilot Washingtonienne, have come on board to write an adaptation of the Mexican drama series Terminales for ABC Family. The hire seems appropriate as Terminales is sometimes described as “Sex and the City‘if Carrie Bradshaw was dying of cancer” and Sarah Jessica Parker, who played Bradshaw on the hit HBO comedy, developed and executive produced Washingtonienne. Created and produced by Miguel Angel Fox, Terminales chronicles the life of young and successful publicist April Marquez who is diagnosed with terminal cancer. Fogel and Lefkowitz replace Del Shores who was originally tapped to write the project. Lionsgate TV and Kapital Entertainment are producing Terminales. Aaron Kaplan is executive producing; Paul Presburger is overseeing for Televisa which owns the format.

Given how crazy funny and smart Fogel and Lefkowitzes’ It Is What It Is and What Was I Thinking are, this is a very cool, hip and smart hire for ABC Family. Maybe now they’ll stop making shows about how all teen sex leads to pregnancy.
Good God. Not that everything should be Muppet Babies, but why would anyone want to watch this? Sorry, but as someone who’s seen far too many people die too young of cancer, whatever happened to the lesson of Sullivan’s Travels? (Don’t even get me started on The Big C.)
Really?? No Thanks. Who would want to watch this?
Those who want to watch good melodrama.
Why be ignorant?
Have to agree with Not4Me. I love ABC Fam and these are solid writers, but terminal cancer is just not an issue I want to come back to week to week, especially not involving a teenager. Switched at Birth is melodrama, this is just depressing.
Main character described as young successful publicist – clearly not a teenager. Like prior commenter I expect something fresh from these writers.
