Armie Hammer, Sir Ben Kingsley, John Malkovich, Michael Sheen and Teresa Palmer are set to star in the crime thriller Cut Bank. Scripted by Roberto Patino from a script that made the 2009 Black List, the pic will be directed by Matt Shakman (Mad Men, Six Feet Under), making his feature directing debut.
Set in Cut Bank, Montana, Patino’s script tells the story of Dwayne McLaren, a young auto mechanic and former high school football star who wants to get the hell out of this tiny town frozen in time. His attempt to do so sets in motion a series of events that will change his life, and the life of Cut Bank, forever.
Ed Zwick, Mickey Barold and Dan Cohen are producing. Untitled Entertainment’s Laura Rister is exec producing, and co-repping the domestic rights with WME Global Finance and Distribution Group.
Entertainment One (eOne) is representing the film for world sales, excluding North America, and will be launching the project in Cannes. According to Sally Caplan, Managing Director, “We at eOne Films International are proud and delighted to be representing Cut Bank. It’s rare to find a project that is such a compelling read with top notch cast and an exciting new director attached.”
Production is set to begin in the fall of 2012.

How does A. Hammer keep getting work?
Because he’s talented and hot?
He is so great and charming, and really proving himself as a versatile actor. Can’t wait.
Roberto is a great writer and the nicest person in Hollywood. His success is earned and deserved.
c’mon teresa palmer! seriusly? she’s so overrated actress!
Because he’s a fantastically talented actor who’s consistently praised by the cast and crew on every film he’s ever done.
Matt (Hack)man will ruin this movie. Just watch
Funny. Shackman is one talented mofo! Very cool he is getting his shot with a great script and talented cast.
Is this picture actually greenlit by someone who can sign checks, or is this just a package in search of pre-sales?
Patino has made it! Watch out for this rising star of the writing universe.
Why Armie Hammer? This is an incredible cast but he’s just so soft and boring. A big deterrent for me unfortunately.
I couldn’t be happier for Roberto, a talented artist and a wonderful human being. He’s been contributing to the success of others for so long, it’s great to finally see others collaborating on his vision now.
hahahahah! omfg. i want to know how in the world the screen writer decided on freaking CB, montana? of all the towns in the world. i ask this because i grew up there. i hope they get the penguin right.
I hope the plot is based around the penguin.
Amazing cast and a talented director! I’m really excited about this project – a great black list script.
This is going to be great!! Great cast and great people behind it!
I love that more and more black list scripts are getting made.
