This movie looks awesome.
Awesome clip!!!
I bet the trailer for TDKR will be much better than the whole “The Avengers” film, which looks like a cookie-cutter, by-the-numbers film & editing exercise.
Nolanite, The Avengers is not aiming to be the Dark Knight. This aiming to be serious, but fun. Critics are saying this is better than Iron Mn just about every critic has been singing The Avengers praises and audience reaction has been good too. Expect this to dominate until The Dark Knight Rises comes out.
You might very well have something there, markLouis.
The Nolan fanboys are shitting bricks that The Avengers will own The Dark Knight Rises. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if The Avengers ends up making $200-$300m more. People want fun and escapism and wit from comic book heroes. “Fun” and “escapism” and “wit” are words that don’t exist in Mr Nolan’s vocabulary.
Every time I hear ‘fun’ and ‘escapism’ connected to a movie, it is to justify ridiculous plots and cartoonish characters. Avengers might be great, but you’re a moron and lack all credibility if you think Nolan’s films have no ‘wit’.
‘Singing Duke’– stop embarrassing yourself.
A lot of movies have fun & escapism (particularly from the 80′s) and are beloved. The Goonies, Gremlins, E.T. for example ‘fun’ & ‘escapism’ does don’t have to mean that a movie is dumbing down to the audience.
“ridiculous plots and cartoonish characters”
So I take it you didn’t see The Dark Knight?
Can’t I like both?
Actually, as long as they are both good movies, there are a lot of us who don’t give a wet rat’s fart about the box office.
If The Avengers makes $200mm it will be considered a disappointment.
This looks really fun. I’m glad it goes out next friday (Spain
)
So now this has become a Nolan vs. Whedon thing. As if geeks couldn’t get more geeky. Nice job guys.
I thought these zero-sum games about movies and tv shows were a made up joke. This actually happens?
Singing Duke us talking out his ass. 200-300 million more than The Dark Knight Rises???? If you want to be included in the adult conversation then say something that might be plausible. Obviously you speak before you think. Both should be huge hits but 200-300 million more than TDKR? Get real and get a calculator.
Singing Duke means fun and escapist in the Indiana Jones serious but fun kind of intelligent drama way. Which Joss Whedon is great at. Buffy, Angel and Firefly are great examples. Not the Transformers silly cartoonish way with characters noones gives a shit about.Which Michael Bay is horrible at.
I like both Whedon and Nolan. I’m going to both of them, and I’m sure I’m going to like both films. There’s no need to get personal.
These action-comic films all look the same.
I don’t know why they’re fighting, but this looks awesome.
For those of you with doubts, remember that Iron Man revitalised the comic book movie, then The Dark Knight took it to the next level. Do we really care if Avengers is better out of the box? If it spurs Nolan on to do even better, nothing wrong with that.
Like Iron Man, I expect The Avengers to be a fun movie to open the summer that is much better than everyone expects it to be. Then, like TDK, TDKR just completely re-writes what the genre means.
Really, there’s anyone out there that would have a problem with this?
“Remember that Iron Man revitalised the comic book movie.”
Go back a couple years. Iron Man takes its plot beat-by-beat from Batman Begins. Seriously, look at them side by side. They’re the same movie, just with very different tones.
Still, the Whedon vs. Nolan thing is mostly nonexistent. Like Batman Begins and Iron Man were both great movies, I hope TDKR and The Avengers are too.
They meet, they fight, they team up. Oops, spoiler.
Do I really have to pick one or the other? They both look like great movies. Even if they are not, they. Have to be better than The Artist and The Descendants, which were nominated for best picture and were awful. Can’t wait to see them both.
Thor would kick Iron Man’s azz. In the Avengers comics he was equivalent to Superman it was always no fun because he couldn’t be beaten. Thor would always have to rescue the Avengers in the end. But I’m only familiar with the comics before issue 200.
My kids, 5&4, went berserk after watching the avenger trailers and being told, I cannot bring them into this movie. Still thinking about how… But would never bring them to TDNR. That aside I am definitely going to watch them both.
I don’t get it, why are two of the heroes fighting? This looks like a movie for supernerds and no one else.
LOL @ the Nolan fanboys. The only way DK3 will come CLOSE to DK2′s gross is if Christian Bale dies right before the film opens, and the PR guys spin it that his portrayal of Batman was so INTENSE that it killed him.
DK2 was one of the most overhyped flicks in history. Iron Man was wayyyyy better. And no they weren’t the same movie, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
That said, this clip was AWESOME. Marvel characters a) fight b) team-up. Pure Stan Lee.
