After four episodes, NBC today pulled Best Friends Forever off its schedule. The Wednesday night midseason replacement will itself be replaced next week by a new episode of Betty White’s Off Their Rockers hidden camera series. BFF stars Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair, who also created the show. “BFF Fans: Wanted to let you know that our show is being taken off the air until the summer. Hoping to post ep 5 & 6 online asap. We love u,” said Parham on Twitter “Yes please to a petition! We want to do this show for 1 million years!,” wrote St. Clair on her Twitter this afternoon in reply to a disappointed fan. BFF debuted April 4 with 3.6 million viewers, less than half the viewers of its slot’s previous occupant, Are You There, Chelsea? BFF’s ratings fell 25% by its second airing. The show’s 2.94 million viewers placed it rock bottom, with Rock Center with Brian Williams, of shows on the Big 4 networks. NBC did not announce any dates for broadcasting the remaining two episodes of BFF.

So sad. This was a really great show that didn’t get enough attention to bring in the viewers. Would’ve liked this one to stick around!
I agree! I watched all the episodes and have really enjoyed both Lennon and Jessica. A funny and smartly written show. I will miss the show.
Sad that BFF had less than half the viewers of Are You There, Chelsea? when it’s two times better.
Agree! This was a very well-written show. So sad it didn’t get much of a chance:(
Nooooooo I actually like this show. It’s pretty funny
Didn’t reinvent the wheel, but the one time I saw it, it was an improvement over the crass Whitney-type humor. Too bad. The little black girl was a riot. The cast was cute though, they’ll bounce back. First Bent now this.
Agreed! The scenes between Jessica and Queenetta were hilarious. Very funny show.
Will NBC ever be number 1 again?
“Will NBC ever be number 1 again?”
This is the first sign that it might be…canceling an irrelevant piece of crap like this might make room for the kind of show that will bring them back to a leadership position.
“BFF debuted on April 4 with 3.6 million viewers, less than half the viewers of its slot’s previous occupant, Are You There, Chelsea?”
There is no way the last ep of AYTC? had more than 7.2 million viewers. The first episode might have hit that with Live+7 DVR ratings.
A ninety year old woman is saving NBC… (And I don’t mean Whitney Cummings! HA!) All hail Betty White. She was there when TV was invented, and is still around as is on its way out… Hail!!!
NBC knows what it’s doing when it develops a new comedy. BFF, Bent, Up All Night, Perfect Couples: all really funny shows with great casting (R.I.P. Perfect Couples, but with Up All Night and ABC’s Happy Endings I no longer miss ye). Even Whitney has got better over time.
30 Rock, Parks & Rec, The Office and Community are still work horses, consistently bringing the funny, IMHO.
So what’s the problem with the ratings?
NBC’s marketing department run by monkeys? Business execs not listening to their creative execs?
I’d really like to know, considering that most of my favorite comedy shows are consistently on the bubble and it’s getting really frickin’ annoying.
You’re right – Some of these are good shows. In my TV class at a large California public university, 60 to 70 percent haven’t watched NBC since Conan left. and we won’t watch until Leno is out.
I didn’t care for the show itself, but the stars are super charming and I expect we’ll see a lot of them.
Yeah it’s hard to dislike the cast. And it’s weird to see a show with so many talented people just fall so completely flat. Oh well, at least NBC replaced it with something entertaining. Have you seen Betty White’s Off Their Rockers yet? I hadn’t even heard of it until a coworker at Dish told me I HAD to watch it. I did a quick search on dishonline(dot)com to see if it was there. It was, and I ended up watching the first four episodes in a row. Overall it’s very funny. If you haven’t watched it yet, I’d definitely recommend checking it out. If you’d like, you can watch it on dishonline too; you don’t even need to be a Dish customer or anything to watch a lot of the shows on there.
Even Bent made it to 6 episodes (albeit over 3 weeks).
Poor choice, Bob. Poor choice. Jessica and Len, keep doing your thing!
I loved loved loved this show. Their friendship felt so real, but at the same it was genuinely funny. Even the look of it was cool. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this comes back, somehow.
It was ok but yes it was better than are you there chelsea… I actually thought the 4th episode was an improvement!
This sucks! Made the mistake of watching half an episode of “Whitney” once. Truly the worst thing I’d seen on TV in years. Thought this would be the same, but there was some gag in one of the promos that had me and my wife cackling, so we set the Tivo. It’s actually really, really funny and well-done. This past week’s episode with the Cougar Ball, if done on another show, would’ve been ridiculous and unwatchable. Instead, it’s just as oddly complicated and outrageously funny as the other episodes.
If they cancel this, I just hope that wherever these two land next, I hear about it in time to tell all my friends about it ahead of time.
The show sucked. Deal.
Jessica – I will continue to shop at Marshall’s.
I don’t know what NBC is doing as far as launching and promoting shows. They stick it on mid-season with very little fanfare and cross their fingers?
This was a very funny pairing; even tho the premise is a little bit limiting–how long is the divorcee going to believably stay living with her BFF– it’s a trope of the genre..WILL & GRACE, FRIENDS- friends living together, improbably.
I particularly love Lennon Parham, she was one of the best parts of (ABC) comedy Accidentally on Purpose. She’s as good as Melissa McCarthy.
NBC is a mess, and now they can’t blame Jeff Zucker.
Bent and BFF were both well made, exceptionally cast, funny, high-quality shows and no one watched them. It’s a real bummer.
The reality is NBC does not have a stable of shows with high ratings to launch the other new shows off with.
Pinecones , I wholeheartedly agree.
I second that, NBC promotional dept is nonexistent. they should be worrying about their jobs.
Let Bent and BFF alone, and they would find an audience.
Funny and different. Hope the talented leads get more chances to find their audience.
Wow, what a surprise: another imbecilic sitcom about sex-obsessed 20-somethings bites the dust. And gets replaced by a show full of white-hairs! Maybe it’s beginning to dawn on NBC that it’s more profitable to have 10 million old people watching HARRY’S LAW than 2 million young people watching COMMUNITY.
Perfect Couples was better and that didn’t get any attention either.
bummer – very good show…miles above Whitney or Chelsea…NBC is a disaster, and it’s only partly the programs…some are awful (like the aforementioned Whitney and Chelsea) but their promo team clearly doesn’t know how to get people to watch great shows
Does anyone know of a petition site or something to get the show back?
