EXCLUSIVE: Actress Ruth Wilson signed with CAA. The signing was competitive for the British actress who is playing the female lead in the Gore Verbinski-directed The Lone Ranger, opposite Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. Wilson, who showed edge playing the murderess and confidante of Idris Elba’s detective character in the British series Luther, will next be seen in the Joe Wright-directed Anna Karenina. She’ll find out this Sunday if she is to win an Olivier Award for Best Actress for playing Anna in the West End production of the Rob Ashford-directed Anna Christie. Wilson continues to be managed by Untitled Entertainment and repped in the UK by Troika Talent.

She was brilliant on LUTHER. Great actress
I’m rarely impressed with young actresses, but I LOVE her. Superb in Luther and a fantastic Jane Eyre a few years ago too. Way better than Mia. Hope she breaks out on this side of the pond soon.
Agreed, I missed her in the final episodes of Luther. I hope her character returns.
Wow! In that pic, she looks like the before and after Laura Flynn Boyle combined. (Hope LFB health is okay–not trying to be mean here.)
Awesome sign. She is amazing in LUTHER.
This woman is amazing. Hers was the definitive Jane Eyre and anyone who’s seen Luther knows what a scene stealer she is. I’m delighted for her.
Allow me to echo the other posters who have praised her amazing “Jane Eyre” performance: she was amazing. This lady has chops.
What is Armie hammer’s appeal?
I love Ruth Wilson I hope she wins the best actress award and she is really good at what she does. And I agree she was the best Jane Eyre.
agree bob! armie was good as the winkelvoss, but apart from that.. M E H. he was way out of his depth in J EDGAR. embarrassing in Mirror Mirror. You know how this biz is , ppl just like to jump on the latest bandwagon.
Saw ruth at the Almeida, she was pretty good.
i think armie – like nic cage – has great talent inside but needs to be working with a great director for it to come out, or what you get is indeed just M.E.H. armie was great in social network because of fincher. clint may be one of the best directors of all time but he lost his touch years ago, and it gets more clear with each picture what a hack tarsem is. i would expect gore verbinksi (who also has a win in the nic cage column with Weatherman) to get something out of armie closer to fincher than the other guys. the guy just knows how to push the right buttons.
way to go Ruth.
do not miss “small island” as she is wonderful in that too.
She was brilliant in Luther
Ruth was a great Jane Eyre and I really enjoyed her performances in Captivating Mary and the solo piece A Real Summer. I’m sure she can now make it to the big screen as well.
