Marvel Television, the TV arm of Marvel Entertainment, has signed with CAA. The decision was made after the company, which didn’t have agency representation, met with several major agencies. I hear key in the signing was the existing relationship between Marvel TV topper Jeph Loeb and CAA’s Chris Harbert, who was his former agent. The relationship with CAA will cover Marvel TV’s live-action efforts but won’t apply to animation. Since its 2010 launch, Marvel TV has been based at ABC Studios since Marvel Entertainment is owned by Disney, which bought the comic book giant in 2009 for $4 billion. Over the past 2 years, Marvel TV has put in development several projects based on comics from its library, including Hulk with Guillermo Del Toro and David Eick and Aka Jessica Jones with Melissa Rosenberg at ABC, The Punisher with Ed Bernero at Fox, Cloak & Dagger at ABC Family and Mockingbird.

wow, must be really busy over at “Marvel TV”, creating all those fantastic… shows like… um… oh wait, they’ve produced nothing.
You do realize that Marvel TV didn’t really start up until summer 2010, don’t you?And they didn’t get their in development shows lined up until mid 2011.That means they would have missed the 2011 and 2012 pilot seasons.
They’re actually taking their time, just like the movies, to make quality adaptations.Look at what happened when WB tried to make a Wonder Woman show without putting much effort into it.
We know Marvel TV has 5 live action films at some stage of development, with at least 3 of them already having writers/producers.We actually got an update from Loeb about their progress last month.
We should hear what they’ve got going on in the upcoming months as we near pilot season.
Why not dust off old series and remaster them and special edition them with new scenes originally left on the editing room floor, then put them on the air? Be cheaper and would generate some press. Might work.

It’s called having a catalog of IP you can exploit on the big screen.
Is Disney really going to let them develop for FBC and CW etc? The start of the Punisher deal really pre-dated the Disney buy if i recall correctly. It seems really limiting on Marvel’s part. I really dont get why a studio like Disney would give a crap when any agency will take their money for talent (especially if they’re offering up packages).
Chris Harbert is a great person, a hell of an agent and very good basketball player. Congrats
I’m a little confused. Why does a production company backed by a major studio need an agent? Is CAA actually taking 10% of everything Marvel’s shows are going to generate? Is, say, Ellen’s production company repped by an agency? What about Imagine?
I still can’t believe that Disney paid 4 billion for Marvel while Facebook paid a billion for Instagram. Marvel should have definitely gotten more than four times what Instagram got.
Would really love to see Marvel Television do something with Dr. Evermor and his world famous Forevertron.
