EXCLUSIVE: In his first major TV gig, Super Bad co-star Christopher Mintz-Plasse has been tapped as one of the two leads of CBS’ comedy pilot Friend Me. Written by Alan Kirschenbaum and Ajay Sahgal, Friend Me centers on twenty-something best friends, Evan (Mintz-Plasse) and Rob (Nicholas Braun), who move from their hometown of Bloomington, Indiana to Los Angeles to begin their exciting new lives working at Groupon. Mintz-Plasse, repped by UTA and Principato-Young, was an early choice for the role in the project, produced by CBS Studios and the Tannenbaum Co. He is currently filming CBS Films’ comedy Get A Job where he coincidentally co-stars alongside Braun. Mintz-Plasse’s only previous TV credit was a guest spot on Starz’s Party Down. On the feature side, the actor, best known for his breakout role as Fogell/McLovin in Super Bad, also co-starred in Role Models, Kick-Ass, How To Trail Your Dragon and Fright Night and has the animated ParaNorman and How To Train Your Dragon 2 coming up.

Still more excited for the Martin Lawrence pilot…
more movie stars jumping on to tv shows.
CMP is great. I hope he finds a great project for his weird charisma.
The brand placement is making me feel ill.
Groupon? So this is a sitcommercial?
That’s going to make for an odd onscreen pairing.Mintz-Plasse is 5’8, while Braun is 6’5.You rarely see actors that tall as main characters in a series.I bet we’ll see a lot of scenes with them sitting down.
I remember back when That 70′s show was on, Mila Kunis either stood on boxes or was always sitting down in her scenes with Laura Prepon because Prepon was half a foot taller.
He’s a better actor than he gets credit for. I hope this does well for him.
McLovin.
Groupon? this seems weirdly specific is this the ultimate brand placement?
This was probably the weakest pilot I read this season. Ugh. Which means of course it’ll get picked up, see: Work It, Whitney, …Chelsea.
Congrats to Braun and CMP. Both are kind and talented guys with bright futures.
Yay. Another yuppie sitcom.
Very excited for this pilot. This is going to be fantastic!
“…begin their exciting new lives working at Groupon.” Wow. Can they steal MT Carney’s tag line “BEST JOB EVER?” I’m sure it’ll work great…
Finally a sitcom about the hilarious world of online discount coupons!
Chris is an awesome actor for a DRUMMER.. Rock on!!
I just watched the pilot. It was dreadful. I had high hopes for McLovin but his character was just annoying. I see its not on CBS’ fall lineup so the public is safe from seeing this crap…for now.
Oh, and Fred Durst makes an appearance. Adding to the awfulness.
