EXCLUSIVE: In a recasting, Diary Of a Wimpy Kid star Zachary Gordon has been tapped for Kari Lizer’s ABC comedy pilot, toplined by Mary McCormack. The multi-camera comedy, from Warner Bros. TV, centers on Hilary Pfeiffer-Dunne (McCormack), a high-powered executive who, having dominated the corporate America for years, now faces the biggest challenge of her life when she finds herself unemployed and acting as a full-time mom to her two kids. Gordon, repped by CAA and Industry’s Dan Spilo, will play Hilary’s son Dylan, replacing Aidan Potter who was originally cast in the role. The recasting was done after the pilot’s table read when a decision was made to age up the Dylan character. Gordon next reprises his role as the lead Greg Heffley in the Diary Of a Wimpy Kid sequel, which opens in August.

Zach’s great in the movies, I mean how many 13 year olds have been the lead of trilogy’s. What a score. Can’t wait to see the movie!
Um, Daniel Radcliffe?
Our family loves the Wimpy Kid movies, they are great! We love Zach Gordon and are looking forward to seeing him in this new TV sitcom.
Zachary Gordon is one of the best kid actors in Hollywood! We have seen him in other movies and TV shows and he’s great. We love his work and are excited about the new DWK movie coming out and look forward to seeing more of him on TV, too.
Sorry Bob! Daniel Radcliff had the help of more than 15 other actors including “A” listers and Academy Award winners who carried the movie. In Diary of a Wimpy Kid, if you have ever seen or read the books – the character of Greg Heffley is the story…Zachary Gordon is the star (plays Greg Heffley) and carries the movie on his shoulders. So far with Box office and DVD sales, the movies have done about $200,000,000.00 dollars and that’s with almost no marketing from Fox.
I think you can safely say that Gordon has done an excellent job at taking a cartoon stick figure and bringing him to life and making the movies successful.
Looking forward to the third one….from the trailer it looks great!
