In his first TV appearance since his ouster from Current TV, Keith Olbermann guests on CBS‘ Late Show With David Letterman tonight. In a preview released by CBS, Olbermann and Letterman talk about Olbermann’s short stint at Current TV. “I screwed up, I screwed up really big on this,” Olbermann says. “I thought we could do this. It’s my fault that it didn’t succeed in the sense that I didn’t think the whole thing through. I didn’t say, ‘You know, if you buy a $10 million chandelier, you should have a house to put it in. Just walking around with a $10 million chandelier isn’t going to do anybody a lot of good, and it’s not going to do any good to the chandelier.’ And then it turned out we didn’t have a lot to put the house on to put the chandelier in, or a building permit, and I, I should have known that. And it is, it is my fault at heart.” “You’re the chandelier?” Letterman asks. “I’m the chandelier,” Olbermann replies. “You are always pointing out how big my head is, so I think it’s a suitable analogy.”

Olbermann is such a dick. Didn’t like the fact his limo driver (that he does not pay for) spoke to him. On camera he is all about the working guy and the 99%, but when he actually INTERACTS with normal people he treats them like shit.
When they say “Keith, you’re gonna be half-partner at Current” and offer your 10 mil a year, it implies you’ll have SOME control over your work environment, no? Ahhhhh Yes: But we must contrast those nasty angry egotistic Liberal commentators (like Keith Olbermann) with…..the quiet, humble, self-effacing, ego-less, almost Budda-like qualities of Conservative commentators…..who, no doubt, bicycle to work, so that they might not offend THEIR limo drivers. Chill out Right Wingers, and just take two more Viagras. But do me a favor- and DON’T call me in the morning ?. The real question we should be asking is : Did CurrentTV simply USE Keith to gain attention and higher ratings? They KNEW what they were getting! Did they lure him with big bucks, and then drop him when they were done? Yes, we all know that Keith injects emotion and passion into his commentary, into his intelligent and incisive reporting, and into his humor….all of which makes his program interesting, as well as informative. He’s forceful, honest, and direct: you FEEL his pain, you FEEL his anger, and you FEEL his heart-felt sincerity when he covers a story. And he covers it well. He’s NEVER just another talking head! If Keith is absent from CurrentTV, then I too will be absent from CurrentTV. For Keith is one of the best – hands down- as evidenced by his outstanding coverage of OWS during the past year. I wish him well, and hope that he is back on the air soon. We need his unique voice and viewpoint!
What a weird post – Olbermann’s situation has nothing to do with conservative commentators, and it’s odd that that’s the only defense you can come up with. We don’t need his hateful voice and viewpoint. He a disgusting, vile, hateful person, and so is anyone who supports him.

Unfortunately for Current, Keith had been holding up his end of the bargain in trying to put together a quality newscast. Keith was fired because ALGORE (written the way Rush Limbaugh says his name) didn’t have the will to put together funds to produce a quality newscast.

If you were unhappy with the ‘house’, why didn’t you simply use some of the 10 million they gave you to rebuild? Here’s a guy whose made a career out of sticking up for ‘the little guy’ but who wouldn’t DREAM of undermining his own bloated salary to create a show where he can speak freely about the things he claims that he’s passionate about. The hypocrisy is sickening.

Far as Keith’s concerned. He didn’t think he needed to donate his salary to the production. His fat payday gets eaten up pretty fast in taxes, manager/agent fees and the price of doing business in Manhattan. The check vanishes. He didn’t come to Current to run a charity operation. If Keith wanted to spend money, he would have opened up an operation like Glenn Beck’s exile online empire.
Sorry if his not wanting to BS with the limo driver upsets some people. But sometimes you’re trying to focus on getting your business and you don’t need the distraction of a guy gabbing away. I used to like Keith, because I found his liberal rants amusing, but then I realized what an asshole he is. Ever since he left MSNBC I’ve wondered why people care so much what he does? This mess with Current TV is completely predictable. Such an egotistical man who is just angry with the world. Go away.

Keith, I loved the show, but I became disgusted with every “no show”, the behind-the-scene whining. Al deserved a lot more from his “partner”. You did screw-up. You did let down the public. This may seem old fashioned but here goes: Make it right. Put that 10,000,000 dollar ego in some obscure drawer at home, and go make it right! Show us(and yourself)how a real pro handles things.
