Buyers board ‘Titanic: Blood And Steel’
Italy’s De Angelis Group has entered a handful of licensing deals on its $30 million mini Titanic: Blood And Steel. Not to be confused with the Julian Fellowes-scripted Titanic 4-parter that’s currently airing on ITV in the UK, this 12-part series is a multi-national co-production that stars Chris Noth, Neve Campbell, Kevin Zegers and Derek Jacobi. Deals were signed in Belgium (Telenet and VMMA), Bulgaria (Fox), Denmark (DR), Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and Macedonia (Visionary), Iceland (Screen One), Pan Asia (AETN), Romania (Pro.TV) and Slovakia (TV JOJ). Co-producers are De Angelis, RAI, 3 Arts, CBC, Artists Studio, Tandem Communications, Epos Films and Antena 3. Tandem is handling worldwide television distribution. The production recently wrapped in Dublin for delivery later this year.

Shine, SMG Cook Up Chinese ‘MasterChef’
Elisabeth Murdoch’s Shine has reached a deal with Shanghai Media Group to bring MasterChef to China. SMG’s Dragon TV will produce and air the cooking series later this year. Shine Netwok will consult. The MasterChef format originally launched in the UK and is now produced in over 30 countries. According to Shine, MasterChef has generated in excess of $270 million in global retail revenue through ancillary activity including cookware, live events, publishing and digital properties.

‘Heartthrob’ Doc Traces Rise Of Hutcherson & Hemsworth
Revolver Entertainment has acquired exclusive worldwide TV and home entertainment rights to Liam Vs Josh: The Heartthrob Games which it is selling this week in Cannes. The hourlong doc follows the rise of The Hunger Games stars Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. Set for delivery in June 2012, the show will be released in UK & US territories by Revolver Entertainment in early summer 2012.

‘Ripper Street’ Goes Down Under
BBC Worldwide has closed an Australian deal on Ripper Street, the 8-part series that’s set in the aftermath of the Jack The Ripper murders in 1899 London. Network Ten has picked up Ripper Street for Oz in the series’ first pre-sale. Produced for the BBC by Tiger Aspect Productions, Lookout Point and BBC America, the series stars Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn, Adam Rothenberg, Myanna Buring and David Dawson.

New Territories In The Ring With ‘Bellator’
FremantleMedia Enterprises has entered a handful of multi-year deals for its Bellator Fighting Championships brand. The tournament-based mixed martial arts program is in its sixth season and features a 12-week 8-man competition held in venues across the US and Canada. New deals include pacts with CANAL+ in Poland; Celestial Tiger Entertainment for syndication to 13 countries across South East Asia and Esporte Interativo in Brazil.
