EXCLUSIVE: There is a casting change on the NBC White House family comedy pilot 1600 Penn following the project’s table read yesterday. The role of the President’s eldest daughter Becca is being recast with Martha MacIsaac (Greek). Brittany Snow was originally tapped for the role. The producers opted to make a creative change with a younger and darker-looking Becca after the table read as the original character and Snow appeared not to mesh well with the rest of the family, including in physical resemblance with the other siblings. Coincidentally, MacIsaac also played a character named Becca in Superbad. Co-created by Josh Gad, Jason Winer and Jon Lovett and directed by Winer, 1600 Penn is a dysfunctional family comedy set at the White House, where the president’s (Bill Pullman) out-of-control oldest son (Gad) returns home and becomes not only the family’s biggest liability but also the glue holding everyone together. The pilot also co-stars Amara Miller as the younger daughter and Jenna Elfman as the First Lady and the kids’ stepmother. Snow just wrapped the feature Pitch Perfect. MacIsaac is with APA.

someone DARK to play Bill Pullman and Jenna Elfman’s daughter? They’re the whitest people in the world.
I think they were looking for someone that could believably play Josh Gad’s sister…
Brittany Snow coming from the same parents as josh gad is just totally unbelievable.
It must feel awful to be fired/recast the day after your first table read. Damn.
Bill Pullman as the prez? So nice to see him taking a role he’s never played before. Oh, wait.
The actress they chose is also white so this obviously is a ridiculous excuse, Snow must have done terrible.
I love Brittany Snow! I’m sure she’ll get an awesome movie soon.
Jenna Elfman is stepmom
In all fairness (having not read the pilot) who thought the two of them could possibly resemble “same parents” siblings?
And while we’re at it, he doesn’t look like he could be Pullman’s kid either.
Much ado about a show that won’t last for two months.
As far as casting goes, Snow is better looking than her replacement, but the replacement is still far too good looking to be believable as Josh Gad’s sister. For that matter, who in their right mind would believe that either Pullman or Elfman could produce something that looks like Gad? John C Reilly and Rhea Perlman would have been completely believable as Gad’s parents, and maybe Mayim Bialik would have worked as his sister. Not that Reilly or Bialik would have taken roles in a destined to be cancelled after four shows series.
Can Brittany ever catch a break? Ever since American Dreams was canceled, she has had no luck at all.
Love Martha! So happy to see her in another project.
Way too much shade thrown Gad’s way, apparently because he’s a “bigger” guy.
He is a great character actor, with an expressive face and a nice, infectious smile.
Just lost interest in this show. I love Brittany Snow, I hope one of these days she can catch a break.
That was probably a good casting call because the cast should look like they could be family, I mean an elephant in the room like that could be the different between the pilot getting picked up or not, and that could be a shame because from what I’ve read about 1600 Penn, it has a lot of potential. More than ever before, I’m excited for the new seasons coming up, mainly because I’ll get to actually sample a lot more of the new shows since my employer, DISH released the Hopper. With its PrimeTime Anytime feature, I’ll be able to automatically record everything from FOX, CBS, NBC, and ABC, every night and watch the programming at my leisure. It’ll make it a lot easier to decide which of the new shows I want to pay attention to, and hopefully I’ll be able to avoid that whole feeling like: I’m-the-last-person-on-the-planet-to-hear-about-the-next-big-thing, thing, and then having to rush to catch up.
“The producers opted to make a creative change with a younger and darker-looking Becca..” Ummm..the new girl (Martha MacIsaac) is 28-years-old, while Brittany Snow is 26. Not only did they not get someone “darker-looking,” they also didn’t get someone younger/younger-looking! Why can’t they just speak the truth and straight out say they didn’t like Brittany Snow, which I don’t see why they wouldn’t because she’s awesome.
