EXCLUSIVE: NCIS co-star David McCallum has closed a new two-year deal with series producer CBS TV Studios to continue on the long-running CBS procedural. McCallum is one of four original cast members whose contracts are up at the end of this season, along with Michael Weatherly, Pauley Perrette and Sean Murray (who joined during the first season). During the quartet’s previous renegotiation two years ago, McCallum again was the first to reach a new agreement at the end of April. Talks with the other three stretched past the upfronts into June. There is indication of that happening again this year, with Weatherly, Perrette and Murray all in various stages of negotiations. On NCIS, which was recently renewed for a 10th season, McCallum plays medical examiner Donald “Ducky” Mallard. The rest of the cast, including star/executive producer Mark Harmon, have deals in place for next season.

Really pleased to see this guy back – he’s a real pro and very watchable. Hope I’m in half a good as shape at his age.
Well I just watched the season finale and he has a heart attack on the beach , so its not that sure he will be back next xeason. I sure hope he does.
Perhaps Jimmy will save him with cpr. I really panicked and was furious, but as he had signed for 10th season, it is unlikely he dies. The cast is pretty much perfect, they shouldn’t mess with it. Killing Mike Franks was nearly too much for me, surely someone ought to be capable of writing a surprising ending without killing off the cast.
I’ve adored David McCallum ever since The Man From U.N.C.L.E. When I saw the NCIS final episode where Ducky lost consciousness on the beach, I was SO afraid the writers were going to kill him off. But if he’s signed for two more seasons, he HAS to earn his salary—right?
Can’t kill off Ducky until there is a Man from U.N.C.L.E. reunion with Robert Vaughn on NCIS… surely the writers HAVE thought of this???
I’VE BEEN THINKING ALONG THOSE LINES TOO, old friends or maybe old friends from different government agencies like Gibbs & Fornell. ::

If they were going to kill him off, why would they sign him to a two year deal after filming the finale. They would have to pay him out for the two years.
I read an artical with a statement from CBS officials that said he would be back next season, but that doesn’t mean he won’t have a whole other set of challenges to go through.
I was a mortician in my early years. I’m 70 years old now and retired as a Robotic Engineer and trouble shooter for G.M. I love to watch NCIS and critique things that I see on the show. When I was in the funeral business I did over 7,900 cases. So I’ve seen it all. Children is what caused me to change fields of employment. I think that N.C.I.S. and the other shows in this field are very interesting and educational to the public…Keep up the good work! I have information on how the Mafia used to dispose of there problems. A 4 Fusher was a cadaver that was taken to a Crematory and cremated, ground up, and it took 4 flushes of the toilet to dispose of the cremains. I am with you on that….I have had a crush on David (really Illya kuryakin) In one episode someone asked Gibbs what Ducky was like when he was younger and he said like Illya Kuryakin. I was the only one watching who got it
Sharon – you weren’t the _only_ one to get it… I watched Man From U.N.C.L.E. back in the day as well. Had to explain it to my daughters, though. Thank God for the internet and smart phones, so we could quickly pull up a pic of ‘Ilya Kuryakin’ and they could see what LJG was talking about. So maybe there’re two of us who got the reference (grin). Well, four, including McCallum himself and Mark Harmon, who is old enough to know.
I was also a HUGH fan of Ilya Kuryakin. I drew protraits of him many times and (as I was in High school) my locker and my room were plastered with his pictures. So happy the whole cast of NCIS will be back.

I got the remark about Ducky looking like Illya and thought it was so great. A dream sequence could work; actually, any vehicle for a reunion would be great. A takeoff on “The Presidio” would be wonderful. Long live this show.

Ducky and all characters are result of intelligent actors and actresses that can support highly technical dialog.The writing and acting is superior.

NCIS is the only show we can’t stand to miss at our house! We hate basketball season (college) here in Kentucky because they always pre-empt your show for basketball. We miss the whole show for weeks on end!! I am trying to find out if everybody will be back for Season 10! I won’t survive without all you guys!!!!!!!! It’s May 1st, 2012 and I would appreciate finding out you’ll all be back for Season 10 & 11 & 12 & you catch my drift, I HOPE!!!!

I am so relieved that McCallum is continuing on the show. Rcecent episodes had me worried. Asking Jethro to be the “executor” of his estate and discussing charitable donations when he dies….no no no…The NCIS ensemble of actors/characters is and has been the best in television (in my humble opinion)!!!

NCIS is far and away the best show on television. I personally have sat and watched every re-run I can find on any channel. The actors are above great. The plots are very intense and always well done. Please continue with this show we would all hate to loose the best show to come along in ages. By the way some of the guest stars are very hard to take. Jamie Lee Curtis and the girl who played B J Barrett as well as others are not my favorites. I am glad to see that Ziva is becoming more human. Great writers, outstanding actors and strong chemistery makes for a wonderful show for all of us to enjoy even on television which makes me sick most of the time. I do not like television but NCIS is phenominal.
