Barack Obama’s re-election campaign has been offering donors a chance to hang with the president for months, but today they just sweetened the deal with the addition of George Clooney at his LA home on May 10. “He’s hosting supporters at his home next month to help build support for this campaign and elect President Obama in November,” the Obama campaign wrote in a fundraising email that went out with “Clooney” as the subject line. “And he’s saving seats for two grassroots supporters like you and their guests. It’s just not a chance most people get — well, ever.”
Clooney has had quite a bit of face time with Obama in recent months. The day before being arrested protesting in front of the Sudanese Embassy in March, Clooney visited the White House for a chat with Obama and later a state dinner for UK PM David Cameron. The Oscar winner has also attended fundraisers at the Holmy Hills estate of The Bold And The Beautiful producer Bradley Bell on Obama’s visit to L.A. in February. On that visit the price of admission ranged from $250 to $35,800. This visit with Clooney and the president, whose re-election effort has raised over $350M since last spring, is a little cheaper for potential invitees. “Donate $3 or whatever you can to be automatically entered to win,” the campaign said.
Deadline's Dominic Patten - tip him here.

This is sad, desperate and just stupid.
I am keeping track of all these actors who are whoring themselves out to this lackluster president…
LOL @ “I am keeping track of all these actors.” Who the fuck are you, Richard Nixon making an enemies list? “Lackluster”? Really? I guess trolling on Deadline is way cooler than PRESIDENT Obama and Clooney combined. Are you broadcasting live from your villa in Italy? Hahaha, best laugh I’ve had all day.
Two of the coolest cats in history in one room, I guess you can’t stand it.
Swiping the credit card for the POTUS! Have spent money on much, much worse.
Maybe Romney could counter a night on the town with Ted Nugent.
Have you ever met Ted? He is a hell of a nice guy, unlike the dick that Clooney has become over the years.
I think the president needs to spend less time hanging out with policy experts like George Clooney, and more time addressing serious issues, like high unemployment, the energy situation, the deficit, the debt, and Wall Street reform.
Clooney IS a policy expert and has done more than almost any elected official to bring attention to the humanitarian crisis in Sudan. show some respect for a man who could easily just sit back and party in-between making movies. What have you done to help anyone? anywhere? anytime?
Get off your high horse. That’s what I love about you lefties, always patting yourselves on the back. “Look at how great he is. I am so great also. I drive a hybrid. I am the 99%. I like farmer’s markets and Saturday Night Live. Blah, blah, blah.” Please enlighten us, what have YOU done?
I actively support numerous social and political organizations with my time, money and words. I do my best to educate and push back against the misinformation perpetuated by rightwing news outlets and all the BS/lies spread on the internet. I do this as both an attorney and award-winning writer.
I’m not patting myself on the back- I’m just pushing back and voicing my opinion when I read a comment that tries to denigrate the important contributions of a man like Clooney, who has no financial interest in pushing the international community to take seriously the humanitarian crisis in Sudan and does this work simply because he actually cares about addressing human suffering and injustice in a remote place that the media wouldn’t otherwise care about. Compared to an “entertainer” like Ted Nugent who supports rightwing causes and spouts vile, arguably criminal statements about the President, I’ll take the activism of any number of left-leaning Hollywood actors over a tool like Ted Nugent any day of the week.
Good on you mate. I agree. From Downunder.
Believe it or not, George Clooney is quite the policy expert when it comes to issues involving Africa. Just because he has a career as an actor doesn’t mean he isn’t knowledgeable in other areas.
As for the other issues you mentioned, I’m sure the President is doing all he can but with the GOP blocking everything he tries to accomplish and unwilling to compromise with him, what would you suggest he do?
Perhaps it is Obama who is blocking Congress and refuses to compromise. Anyway, it seems Obama is doing a pretty good job circumventing Congress with his proliferation of czar appointments, regulatory law and executive orders. Obama’s many failures are on Obama. The blame someone else game that Obama likes to play is in triple overtime and people are getting bored with it.
Obama can’t do anything as long as the Republicans in Congress are determined to block his every move. Even good ideas that they would otherwise agree with, Republicans will block if it comes from Obama since they are not interested in helping the country, only in gaining more power.
about 10,000 civilians dead in Syria.
Are the Repubicans blocking POTUS from doing anything about that? It took Obama a year and over 5,000 casualties to even acknowledge the rebellion.
Unlike you the Obama administration has weighed the risks of attacking Syria and it’s not in our best interest.
Unless you want a 3rd war, you need to trust that this administration knows how to handle this situation.
It’s easy to call the shots from behind your computer.
That’s exactly right David. This is the state of politics today. Even if a candidate comes up with a good idea the other party tries to destroy it because it’s not coming from them. The party shouldn’t be above the country.
Just a quick reminder that Democrats are in the majority in the Senate.
The Dems have a majority in the Senate, but haven’t passed a budget in 3 years, in violation of the law. Who’s blocking that? Is it that no-good Mormon, Harry Reid? You know those Mormons, I hear so much about how weird and out of touch they are.
They also had filibuster-proof majorities in the House and Senate for the first two years, and the last two years of Bush, so stop blaming other people all the time.
David here is a queston for you? Who controlled both the Senate and the House for the first two years of this administration and even now controls the Senate? I’ll give you a hint, it wasnt Republicans….
Because he couldn’t possibly do both, could he?
Yeah what’s with these actors thinking they have rights as American citizens to support a political candidate of their choosing. Who do they think they are participating in a political process that is only meant for every single law abiding citizen. They should leave the process to people who know what’s going on in America ,you know people like oil com
It is called fundraising.
The celebrities want to help out for the good cause. There is nothing wrong with that. In this polarized country caused by the right wing, only right wingers will criticize this as part of the “liberal agenda”
Hey George,
I truly respect your work as an actor, director, producer, activist, humanitarian, and all around good guy. Moreover, lending your support and funds for causes and candidates you believe in is also just fine. And, having a few seats for the common folks at your event for Obama is okay, too.
The problem arises when you let your good heart be so influenced as to lower your standards to this publicly embarrassing promotion stunt using your celebrity. This, sir, is way below your pay grade.
George, this is beneath you…I feel.
Obama cannot repay this debt…ever.
Wow, I remember not too long ago if you were a citizen called upon to help your President, you were called a PATRIOT.
I wonder what changed and why 44 is soooooo…I dunno…DIFFERENT…from his predecessors.
I’ll wait.
Your cynicism is just not as funny as Sarah Palin’s,lol
Just remember, this was the guy who rocked rubber nipples in Batman and Robin.
Dude, open your eyes, he is rasing money for his reelection. It will ve a nightmare if Romney took over, this country will go down hill so fast. it is called fund raising, wake up, dummy.
Anonymous,
Don’t know which “Dude” you are addressing, and it doesn’t matter. What does matter is your consistent arrogance mocking others who do not believe the way you do.
You tell us “to wake up,dummy” while you almost always see the world only one way, anonymously and rudely.
We know it’s fund raising, so I guess if we tarred and feathered you and rode your smart ass out of town for donations to Obama…that would be cool, too.
“Tarred and feathered” and “Obama” in the same sentence. How telling. Nah FTCS, you’re not racist at ALL.
You Righties can’t help yourselves.
Well, if it is ok for you mock George Clooney’s attempt to help Obama, why is it not to mock people like you who are basically out of touch with reality?
Yes, unfortunately, this country is polarized by people like you.
You can say it, you are anti Obama or liberals, right?
Why not just admit it?
So you support Ted Nugent, don’t you?
You think it is ok for people like him to call with harm for the President of the United States?
I sense a large amount of hypocrisy. You make me want to generalize the right wingers.
Nugent did not threaten anyone. He met with the Secret Service yesterday and the S.S. agreed that there was no threat. Did you even listen to Nugent’s comments in their entire context, not just the misleading sound bite that has been widely disseminated on the internet?
That’s true, LeftCoastDrags, but really……who HASN’T rocked rubber nipples at some point during their life??
Sheesh. So I can have a shot at a date with Clooney for only $3? Why do I hear Bette Midler in that movie whining “I been kidnapped by K Mart” when the nabbers cut the ransom. When did campaign fund raising become a publicity stunt and a cheap one at that?
