ABC’s Private Practice had a strong second week in its new Tuesday 10 PM time slot. With a lead-in and competition on par with last week, the medical drama (2.2/6 in adults 18-49, 8.4 million) shot up 29% in 18-49 from its Tuesday debut. The Grey’s Anatomy spinoff posted its most-watched telecast in more than a year and a half and its best 18-49 result in more than two months. Private Practice‘s lead-in, the Dancing With The Stars results show (2.4/6), matched its fast national from last week, down a tenth from the final. Cougar Town (1.5/4) was up a tenth following a Last Man Standing repeats vs. an original last Tuesday.
The Whitney Houston-themed episode of Fox’s Glee (2.7/8) was up 13% from last week. But the gains didn’t carry over to New Girl (2.6/7), which was down a tenth. It was followed by a New Girl rerun. NBC’s The Biggest Loser (2.2/7) was flat with its fast national from last week, down a tenth from the final. The Voice results show (3.2/8) shed another tenth, while Fashion Star (1.6/4) is currently a tenth ahead of last week’s episode but may be adjusted down in the finals. Even with all repeats, CBS won the night in total viewers. Fox was No. 1 in 18-49.
The CW’s Canadian import The LA Complex (0.3/1) was dead on arrival, matching the underwhelming premiere rating for the now-defunct CW midseason reality series Remodeled. The Melrose Place-esque drama held onto half of its lead-in, the return of 90210 (0.6/2), which was down a tenth from its last original last month.

It’s very hard to launch a new show at this time of year, as HUT levels are dwindling already due to warm weather, daylight, spring activities, etc., not to mention the “final 3 or 4″ episodes of shows folks are already devoted to.
LA Complex was outstanding, and people are really missing a quality drama if they ignore this one.
The LA Complex was surprisingly good! My wife, who got sick of Degrassi years ago (and found Cassie Steele annoying on that show) actually enjoyed The LA Complex quite a bit.
It’s already been renewed for a second season in Canadia, so I can’t imagine that The CW has much on the line financially with it.
I definitely agree the LA Complex is a great show, executing the “behind the scenes of hollywood/LA” better than almost any other show out there. Maybe it’s just not on-the-nose and over-the-top enough to catch the audiences of Grey’s or Gossip Girl, but the writing definitely has rewards for those that appreciate well drawn out characters and well paced story arcs. ** I am saying this after having seen the first 6 in Canada **
The LA Complex deserves a network that can properly promote and give it its due; I agree w/ Jason in saying that it is a pretty decent drama, and certainly better than anything that The CW has on right now.
Last night I watched LA Complex. I was surprised at how well done the show was compared to the production company’s other show “Degrassi”.
I don’t think it should be on The CW though. It’s a show that should be on a network like MTV. It will surely die on The CW because I saw no promo for it. It’s like a way better version of the Melrose Place reboot.
LA COMPLEX is GREAT perfect fun fit for the CW! Perfect companion to 90210!
LA Complex was terrible. Poorly written and produced. Amateurish, embarrassing drivel.
Quality drama was Melrose Place. It was a huge it the first time around. Their was a nice blend of core characters from previous version and new ones for the spin off. It was hot, good and kept you on your toes. This is a cheap imitation that I wont give a chance and it seems that it got the ratings it deserved. Good riddens and I am very happy that the CW has another failure in its hands.
The CW is going after the female Millennials, THEY DON’T WATCH TV ON A TV!!!!!! They watch everything online, IDIOTS!!! The CW needs to go 100% on line be a sub of Hulu on Hulu’s site etc… FREAKING EASY to understand.
If millenials don’t watch tv how do you explain the much bigger numbers for abc family’s scripted shows and mtv’s jersey shore? Stop making excuses for the cw. They just try way too hard to be cool and should take themselves less seriously. The Melrrose Place reboot could have been ten times more a guilty pleasure but it was too restrained. 90210 is so boring too. Gossip Girl isn’t as cool as the OC.
The LA Complex sucked. I’d like my hour back. Embarrassed that I’m one of the handful of people that wasted their time watching it. Why on earth Paul F. Tompkins wasted his time & talent on that show I don’t understand.
WOW! A 0.3 for the Cw’s L.A Complex. Whether or not it was good is beside the point. The Cw wouldn’t keep it on with a 0.3 or would they?
The CW seriously needs to either rebrand itself and their image or a year from now, they will become extinct and CBS and WB will not be putting up with these awful numbers anymore. Pedowitz seriously needs to grab the bull by the horn and stop bringing in crap reality shows and scripted garbage from other countries and primarily focus on a two-set plan…1) start producing scripted shows that will generate interest amongst ALL audiences and not just the female tweens and 2) stop with the constant reruns of shows and bring about stability to this network. ION isn’t far behind in whipping the CW’s butt so they better be careful here because regarding this specific show, I won’t blame Ostroff as this wasn’t her decision to bring it to air. This was Mark’s choice and he has to put the hammer down and wake up and start cleaning up the mess she left there a year ago and focus on making this network relevant for once or else, it’ll end up like OWN and slowly fade off into the sunset. No excuses here!
LA Complex was and is a fantastic show for the CW. After watching the initial six episodes I found it to be well written and the performances are great too. Good group of hard working Toronto actors who deserve their shot.
LA Complex is really good. I hope CW is smart enough to realize the potential before they cancel. Good actors and fun story. Too many crappy CW shows have scared people away.
