Did this seal the fate of The Finder? In its Friday debut last night, the Bones spinoff pulled in a 1.1/4 among adults 18-49 at 8 PM, down 52% from its most recent airing on Thursday behind American Idol. At 9 PM Fringe (1.0/3) dropped 20% after an encouraging 33% jump last week. (That is a two-tenth drop for Fringe, while its lead-in went down a tenth with the switch from Kitchen Nightmares to The Finder.)
CBS won the night in 18-49 and total viewers, with Undercover Boss (1.8/7, 7.8 million) once again ranking as the top program of the night in the demo and Blue Bloods (1.7/5, 10.8 million) in total viewers. Boss was flat and Blue Bloods up a tenth in 18-49 from last week. Sandwiched between them was CSI: NY (1.6/5, 8.9 million), also flat with last week. ABC’s Shark Tank continues to hold its own, drawing a 1.3/5 with a repeat for a second place at 8 PM against originals on the other Big 4 networks. Primetime: What Would You Do? (1.6/5) was up a tenth from last week, while 20/20 (1.5/5) tumbled 29% from last week’s highly-rated lotto frenzy episode. ABC finished second for the night in 18-49 and total viewers. Following a flat Who Do You Think You Are? (0.8/3), NBC’s Grimm (1.3/4) was up a tenth from last week. Dateline (1.1/3) was down a tenth. The CW aired repeats while Univision logged another No.3 finish among adults 18-49 this week (1.2, behind CBS’ 1.7 and ABC’s 1.4 and ahead of NBC and Fox’s 1.0).

Grimm needs a better lead in. that Is the worst lead in of any show on any network. I feel bad for them it’s a great show and they give it a crappy lead in and then keep taking them of the air for weeks at a time.
Or a better staff…
Definitely better staff. The only saving grace of the show is that it’s cheap. And its cheapness does shine through.
Or better writing.
Yet Grimm can hold onto basically steady ratings despite all its obstacles. That just makes it more likely to get a renewal, in the context of other shows being given great timeslots and blowing them.
I believe it was already renewed.
Shows how much faith NBC has in this year’s development.
Damn, too bad about Fringe. Dropping again after finally rising last week. Fringe is my favorite show & I desperately want it renewed, but, its’ ratings break my heart. Putting that Finder thing in front at 8pm may completely finish off Fringe. I was worried that would happen. Fringe is hardly promoted to begin with & now that Finder as a lead-in just makes things worse. I knew noone would watch that Bones spinoff.Only reason it got any viewers before was because of American Idol as the lead-in. I’m an eternal optomist guys, but, enjoy the remaining episodes of Fringe. They may be our last. If we don’t get a fifth season-at least let them get a series finale that brings the story to a full circle type of ending. The fans are very loyal. We deserve an ending. Thank you.
I loved last night’s episode of Fringe. Again, I watched this on DVR. It would be interesting to see what Fringe’s live+7 ratings are. I bet there are a lot more people watching on DVR than on 9pm on a Friday night.
I do have to note that in order to get totally invested in Fringe, you need to watch the prior seasons.
Finder is actually a better show than Fringe; Michael clarke Duncan has more talent than Jackson, Noble and Torv put together. He’s also easier on the eyes than Torv.
That’s about the most laughable and ludicrous statement I’ve read in quite a while…
I like Fringe and Finder. The Finder seems like it’d be more at home on USA and Fringe has had a solid run, hopefully it’ll get a final season but we’ll wait and see on that.
I like Fringe but its a money losing show and has been for a while. Plus, it likely won’t work in syndication so there is no money there. The Finder, on the other hand, would be a perfect fit on USA.
The Finder is a great show….very unique and entertaining. Love the zany cast of characters. Too bad it couldn’t find an audience.
give me a break, of course The Finder’s ratings will drop moving from AFTER AMERICAN IDOL to Friday? From the best spot to the worst. What show does well in the TV cemetery. There has to be a different series of expectations.
Fringe could have went down because of the focus on a supporting cast member. While I like the Lincoln Lee character, he’s certainly not as popular as the Bishop Boys!
Guess Hart Hanson will have to string Bones out for a few more lame seasons before packing it up and heading back to the great white north. Good riddens…
Why be mean-spirited toward a truly great guy like Hart Hanson? You, sir, are an envious ass…Get your own act together and stop slamming those doing better than you…
Some of us believe Hanson is a jackass. Deal with it.
Fringe sucks and should have been canceled long ago. The Finder The Finder is an awesome show with great characters and is something different from all the lawyer, doctor and cop shows on. Fringe is a rip off of Doctor Who and the X files. It’s too bad they wanna get rid of The Finder and not give it a chance before sending it to the death slot on Friday nights. They are gonna need to fill time where House is once it ends. I will say this again If Fox cancels The Finder then there is nothing on stations I would ever watch again.
I watch that Bones spinoff !!! It’s better then Bones..and needs to be put on USA.
I personally think that Finder is being sacrificed to justify keeping Fringe around.
I pre-set my DVR to record the ad riddled network TV shows I like, to watch later, so when a show is moved to another slot, I don’t personally follow them over until later, if ever. Programming continues using an old, outdated paradigm, not in sync with how today’s viewers watch TV. Nor do networks seem to take into consideration Hulu or On Demand viewing.
I like Finder. It’s amusing light entertainment for when the mood is right… which is rarely when the network broadcasts it. So, I’m one of those who missed the Friday night move. I’m usually not home to watch TV Friday, but I’d have recorded Finder had I known it moved. I didn’t.
I had heard that Finder was moving, and used the “Record Entire Series (first run episodes)” to ensure a smooth transition, as I did with Harry’s Law and Bones.
I love both The Finder and Grimm. I did not record The Finder because (1) I didn’t know it was on (good job network ad people)and (2) I believe the season had ended.
@Litman. Phil wasn’t being mean-spirited with his commentary-just honest. The fact of the matter is this: Bones has basically turned into a soap opera. That’s one the many reasons I stopped watching it. As far as The Finder is concerned-its’ Friday numbers were not good. That’s not being mean- spirited. That’s just being honest.
Anna,I also like Michael Duncan & his movies. But,you could have praised him without putting down the entire Fringe cast. Also John Noble is an accomplished actor who has also been in films. Also, I don’t know who you have been looking at,but, Anna Torv is one very sexy F.B.I. agent in ANY universe!
The Finder isn’t that great…………but since it’s not even a similar show to Fringe I don’t see the point comparing them. Though I totally agree on Bones. It’s been on a major slide the last couple of years but Fox doesn’t really have a lot to replace it with just now.
And John Noble is at least as strong an actor as Duncan. I personally would take Torv though. No question.
Maybe The Finder is going down because only Anna watches it.
At any rate, I would be surprised if Fringe gets renewed. It just seems to be inevitable now.
