The former GOP VP candidate tore into Hollywood — including comedian Bill Maher and HBO’s movie about the 2008 presidential campaign, Game Change — but showed some affection for Oprah Winfrey and Tina Fey on the Today Show’s “Today’s Professionals” panel discussion segment this morning. Asked about Winfrey’s admission yesterday that she failed to appreciate how hard it would be to launch her struggling OWN network, Palin said “more power to Oprah for getting out there, showing the guts, showing the grit that it takes to succeed. ….She is representing what makes America great. You have opportunity to succeed and to fail and to keep trying again.” Palin didn’t raise her hand when host Matt Lauer asked panel members to do so if they thought that Winfrey would be able to fix OWN. But she added that she thinks the channel is “going to be around. She should get some conservatives on the show, some patriots.” On the subject of whether it’s fair to criticize actress Jessica Simpson for the weight she’s gained during her pregnancy, Palin said that it only became an issue because “the Hollywood image is full of itty bitty people — unrealistically tiny.” Palin blasted a Facebook app that enables members to list their enemies. ”It’s all about tearing people down. Hurting people. I don’t see anything positive, anything good about this.” The panel wondered whether politicians are also guilty for spreading venom. “It’s not just the political arena,” said Palin. “Look at the Bill Mahers of the world….In the entertainment business –there’s power in people’s words, we know that.” What about politicians who campaign for “anybody but Obama”? “I don’t think saying ‘anybody but Obama’ is such a negative thing because it opens the door to talking about positive solutions that I would like to talk more about.” Lauer asked about the planned movie about Steve Jobs that will star Ashton Kutcher. That seemed to strike a nerve with Palin. ”Do any of you here have experience with people being paid a lot of money to pretend like they’re you?” in an obvious reference to Julianne Moore’s portrayal of her in Game Change. “I didn’t see the movie… wouldn’t want to waste my time on a false narrative.” She added, though, that Tina Fey has been “pretty clever.”

John McCain really should be ashamed for saddling America with this nitwi, and giving her a platform for the next 40 years.
You mean like Joe Biden, Eric Holder, Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, Debbie Washerman-Shultz, Harry Reid, Howard Dean, John Kerry, etc.?
No, Jim, YOU should be ashamed for not getting professional help for your Palin Derangement Syndrome.
Joe Biden? Really? He’s just happy to be in the VP position. He’s pretty harmless. I mean, everyone else on your list, I get those. All of them can be pretty harsh and abrasive at times. But Biden just says silly things, everyone has a laugh, and we move on to being angry again.
I don’t see any of those people going on publicity tours in a bus with their name on it, launching reality shows and trying to keep their face on TV as much as they can.
I don’t give a crap about her politics, but she was woefully unqualified to run for vice-president and while I feel bad that she wasn’t ready for the onslaught, she has done herself no favours since then. She’s never come across as very intelligent, yet thinks nothing of speaking her mind. And her resignation as Governor of Alaska before even one term was up spoke volumes.
I find it shocking that ANYONE, no matter what their political leanings, would take this woman seriously.
Really?? None of those people get on news programs and rant ans rail against Palin or lie while using insider information to make millions? At least Palin is doing it honestly, while the politicians are using their postition to reap millions while claiming they are pure as the driven snow.
Get a clue.
John McCain isn’t responsible for popularizing any of the aforementioned. Only Sarah Palin. Read the post before you comment. And yes, in case you are wondering, I do think Palin is a nitwit.
you are typical of those who cannot distinguish between competent intelligent and thoughtful individuals and populist demigogues who thrive and survive on generalities and slogans and are intellectually sub standard and whose only appeal is that her views match those of the dimwitted – like you – who identify with her reality show ideology. (sad)
Nice publicity stunt NBC! However, April Fool’s Day was Sunday, what were you thinking?
Not much. Even more stupid? On Palin’s banner while being interviewed by Lauet, it said ‘Fox News Contributor.’ so Fox got free advertising from NBC, brilliant.
Oh god…
When will this Dumb-Dumb’s 15 minutes be up?
If she hasn’t seen it, then how can she claim it’s a false narrative? Although I suppose any film that portrays Palin as a sympathetic should be assumed to be a false narrative.
Keep on trying, Caribou Barbie. You’re still as offensive and as hateful as ever, no matter what kind of mask you try to wear.
Then again, so are all Republicans.
Where’s that other brilliant political pundit, Kate Gosselin, when we need her?
How much do we have to pay Ms. Palin to go away and sink into the oblivion she so richly deserves?
Oprah should sign up Levi Johnston for his very own talk show on her OWN network.
Good riddance to all of them!
There is something truly sickening about the way NBC used Sarah Palin to counterprogram against Katie Couric’s guest appearance on GMA. The woman’s projections suggest a shaky grip on reality.
God forbid the media not cover ever word that escapes this idiot’s mouth. Every single word about this too-stupid-to-be-embarrassed low-IQ narcissist puts money in her pocket. STOP ALREADY.
I don’t know how Sarah Palin does it, but I’m embarrassed for her everytime she opens her mouth. She’s clearly not but then again I guess lack of insight and being completely void of self-awareness will do that to someone.
“Real patriots”? BWHHAHAHAHA…Here’s a clue Sarah, honey, if you got to call yourself a patriot, you’re not. And for a person to complain about listing your enemies on Facebook as not being positive, lets remind everyone that dear Sarah put crosshairs over her political enemies. Crosshairs. Let’s ask Gabrielle Giffords how that worked out for her.
Conservatives have their own network which Sarah is pon the payroll. I prefer the lunatics and idiots in one place, but thanks for the suggestions Sarah. How does it feel to be sliding into obscurity?
Combining politics, morning television and broadcast network desperation together in one place means we can happily ignore all three at once.
Watched her on the Today show this AM. As soon as she said the line “anyone but Obama” I turned it off. She can’t express what she wants in a Republican nominee so she will settle for anyone but Obama. Will Hitler be OK or Stalin or Pol Pot?? After all they aren’t Obama!
Get ready NBC viewers (if palin got good marks from the producers) mark my word! Sarah will be on MSNBC by summers ends. I remember readig a few weeks ago that FOXNews President had issues with Palin. I bet this Today “stunt” was an audition for her to be a NBC contributor for the election season.
I despises every thing this lady dose but she may be on to something when she say that OWN could use some conservatives on the network maybe not a controversial conservative like her though that would be down right awful but having a conservative on the network at least part time would widen its viewing audience a little wouldn’t it?
Ah, that civil, tolerant tone of the left. Always open to listening to different opinions.
Have any of you ever stopped to wonder why Sarah frightens you so much that all you can do is namecall?
The left is very open to listening to different opinions. But when someone like Sarah Palin constantly spouts stupid talking points and is constantly trying to extend her 15 minutes of fame without bring anything substantive to the table, that’s when we turn you off.
Yes Ann, liberals are afraid of Sarah.
Feel free to run her against Obama and see what happens.
yes spreading hate is very bad it is better just to put them in the cross hairs right Sarah?
So she thinks Oprah needs to get some conservatives on her network in order to be “patriotic”. But what would she say if you suggested Fox News needs some liberals in order to be “fair and balanced”?
she’s a robot, right?
And it’s not her baby, right?
Right. And thank you for saying so.
So she took a paycheck from the “liberal elite media” ?
I would have watched if they had Steve Schmidt as a guest.
Palin is like a Chatty Cathy doll who can speak about 8 sentences. For all the supporters, haters and inbetweeners someone present an argument that she has presented anything new or different to say since the McCain campaign.
The clock has ticked down her 15 mins. Let her go already.
JUST WATCH THE MOVIE DUMMY WHATS THE BIG DEAL. I very much dislike Sarah Palin but felt compassion for her after seeing the movie. That’s not so bad.
I switched to Good Morning America this morning as I was NOT about to watch Palin while eating my breakfast. I had no idea how good GMA was. I’ll probably watch that show from now on. I have to thank NBC for making me a GMA viewer. Plus GMA is a Ryan Seacrest-free show so that’s also a bonus.
Sarah, are you willing to renounce the use of “lamestream” as a term, considering the word “lame” used in a derogatory sense is disrespectful to those with physical disabilities–much in the same way “retarded” is disrespectful to those with developmental disabilities like your son?
Its too much to expect that you can bring up Palin on an entertainment site and note have the carpeting and criticism begin. Personally i thought she was polite, funny and unpretentious. As for her opinions:
1. Oprah putting on conservatives. It couldn’t hurt to try. But i think it will take more than that.
2. On Jessica Simpsons weight. She is so right. Read how they want Ann Hathaway to lose 15 pounds for Les Miz. There is slender and then there is scrawny and emaciated. Simpson looks fine.
3. Facebook enemies. Why would people want to do that?
4. Venom from celebs. Cant argue with her there.
5. Ashton Kucher + Jobs – Does not sound interesting enough to watch. Neither was the Game Change movie. But it does have to be weird to have someone play their version of you.
